The food was excellent! I ordered marsala. It came with a huge loaf of bread, a really nice salad with spring greens and multiple vegetables, and a side of pasta cooked perfectly. The meat was cooked perfectly. Portions were hearty. I called in my order. When I paid with my credit card, they didn't pressure me to leave a tip (via signing a receipt with a tip option).

It's about time I wrote a review for this place, as we've been here so many times over the past 12 years or so, and it really is one of our family's top favorite restaurants! The main reason we keep coming back? The consistently fantastic service! Every single time, we are greeted warmly, with cheerful smiling faces and genuine friendliness, not just politeness. They're not just reciting a script, they seem genuinely pleased to see you and interested in you, and they pay attention to every detail, and time everything just perfectly. We've gotten to know Kaitlyn now - she always recognizes and greets us warmly, and is so enthusiastic and fun. Even though she wasn't our server last night, she waved at us and said "hi" as she went by! :) Last night, we had Luca (Luka?) - not sure of the spelling. Such a wonderful friendly young man. We asked him for recommendations from the menu, and he really knew all the dishes well, and could describe to us in detail exactly what to expect. (At some restaurants, the wait staff don't seem to know their own menus that well!) Just like all the other servers, he was very attentive and friendly. At the end of the meal, when I ordered a latte, he apologized that their espresso machine wasn't working, and offered a regular coffee instead. But then, he went above and beyond and came back with something that he had hand made himself! (As he used to be a barista). It was the most delicious latte I think I've ever had! Such a nice gesture! The other main reason we keep coming back? The consistently excellent food! There's something for everyone it seems - even picky eaters. We feel confident bringing any friend or family member here, as we know we won't be disappointed. Last night was another fantastic evening here. My daughter and I both had one of the "Entree Specials" - the Blackened Salmon, served over a bed of fettuccine pasta with an amazing cheese sauce. (I don't remember the exact description from the menu, but it was absolutely delicious!) The salmon was juicy and tender, the blackened seasoning was so tasty, and it went so well with the cheesy, garlicky pasta sauce, and the pasta itself was very fresh and had a perfect texture. My daughter and I were "mmmm-ing" and "ahhhh-ing" the whole time! My son had the Scampi Mary, from the seafood section, and was very happy with it. My husband had the Veal Parmigiana and was very pleased with his choice. (I had a taste of his, and it was delicious too!) Two of our friends (more picky eaters!) simply had pepperoni pizzas, but they were very happy with them too. The soup of the day was tomato-basil - one of my favorite soups, and it was every bit as tasty as I'd hoped! At the end, we had 3 desserts, the carrot cake, the chocolate tartufo and the lemon sorbet - all very different but all very yummy. Also, we were glad we happened to be there on a Monday this time, so we took advantage of their "half price wine" Monday deal! We ordered a bottle of one of the most expensive red wines on the list (that we wouldn't normally get) - the Bonanza Cabernet Sauvignon - and it really was delicious! We also always enjoy the fresh crusty bread and bruschetta sauce, olive oil, etc, that they serve at the beginning too. And the jugs of water are regularly refilled. We've been here for many birthdays, anniversaries & other special occasions, and we often bring out-of-town guests here, when they're staying with us. The combination of the great service, delicious food and warm atmosphere has always been so lovely and satisfying. We sometimes say, "oh let's try somewhere else for a change" but then often end up coming back here, knowing we can rely on this place to be just what we want! :)

Great food, great atmosphere, great service. What else could you ask for? Had dinner here while we reset in Illinois at the pilot across the street. Some of the best lasagna I've ever had. The sangria was absolutely delicious. Their tiramisu was phenomenal ( chefs kiss ). Highly recommended.

Kaitlin was very engaging. Grilled calamari on a bed of crisp spinach was excellent. Fresh crisp bread with dipping garnish was yummy. Tomato basil soup was served piping hot. We split the tallest lasagna portion made with all ricotta I've ever seen! Split the spumoni! We'll be back.

WHAT HAPPENED HERE??? Seems there has been a change in cooks, because it's not good anymore. My family has been coming here for over 30 years. We were a party of 5 on a Friday night. Except for a few tables outside of the bar area, the place was empty! On a Friday!? We ordered a linguini dish that had a puddle of water on it! One of burgers was overcooked and dried out... The calamari was soggy and smelled extremely fishy! I don't even remember what the other dishes were. We were just disappointed. And what is with the waitress running back and forth to a banquet and then to our table?? Over $200 for food we couldn't eat.... Get your shit together!

If you're wanting traditional Italian cuisine this is it. Made a stop on the way home to Cincinnati and Loved. Great service , food and environment. Will definitely be a tradition to stop and eat during future visits to the Chicago area.
