Check out this kind of unique zoo themed bar. It's next to a zoo: the Brookfield Zoo to be exact. Zubar is a convenient stop for those coming from and going to the zoo. Even those not going to the zoo can enjoy it. This is right off the Metra zoo stop, and I'm wondering how many times I can mention the zoo in this review, maybe 20 times or so. A convenient stop along the Metra gets you here. It's almost seriously there as soon as you get off. This is obviously located on the way to the Brookfield Zoo. It makes a pretty good stop when coming back from walking around. This is pretty much just a little bar with drinks and slots. It's about $5 for a simple cocktail. There's basic liquor. Good place to hang after walking around the zoo and needing to get a drink. It doesn't seem to have food anymore but you can bring some in. There's also entertainment like a jukebox and pool table.

Good local joint. Friendly and super cheap drinks. Right off the train station which is rather convenient. Offer slot machines in the back and has some outdoor seating! We'll be back whenever we are in the area!

We. Love. Zubar. We come every every year for our annual holiday train crawl and I cannot wait to come back next week for round 4!! First thing we love is how close it is to the Metra. It is literally a walk across the tracks and you are there! We give the bartenders a heads-up that our large group is going to be coming every year so they're not slammed with 30 people coming in at 11AM on a Saturday, in obnoxious voices and holiday sweaters :) The bartenders are also so amazing and accommodating. Especially because we're only at that stop for an hour, they crank out everyone's food orders and drinks! The have great, cheap beer selections. My favorite part of this bar? The JUKEBOX! It's so much fun and our group is always in the mood for some communal karaoke when a good throwback comes on. The bar is also larger than it seems. Aside from the actual bar area, there's a pool table, dartboards, and lots of TVs. We'll see you soon Zubar for this year's crawl and we'll be bringing a whole lot of holiday spirit ;) PS: Did I mentioned because it's close to the Brookfield Zoo, there are large lion statues outside the train stop that are always a great photo opp. haha!

Divey place but friendly and amazingly cheap drinks! As someone who lives in downtown Chicago, it's refreshing to come out to a place where you can get 5 drinks for less than $15! They have a pretty big interior with plenty of seating, darts, and even some slot machines if you're feeling lucky. Would come back here if we are in the area, as it's the only place near the train station.

The only place within walking distance between the Metra Zoo stop and Brookfield Zoo and they "closed their kitchen" at 5pm! The zoo closes at 5pm and the next Metra train is at 6pm. Seems like they are missing out on a market of people looking for some wings & a beer while they wait the hour for the train. Seriously disappointed.

First visit and this place gave me a good impression. The owner was nice, bartender attentive, prices just right and atmosphere Devine. The wings are good (not breaded) and prices just right. The Captain and coke had the perfect balance of sofa and alcohol. I will be back.

I attended a benefit party for a family friend on 11/11/17. Saturday nights are busy everywhere, I understand this. But coming from the north west side of Chicago, my bar experiences differ a bit. I walk in and there are maybe 150 people and 1 bartender. Poor woman was swamped, but that's to be expected. Eventually I get my drinks and everything is going well. The bar itself has a bit of a strange vibe. It's fairly roomy which is great, but it's a little bit all over the place. Some slot machines and dart machines. Pretty average. The main reason for the 5 stars I'm giving is because I have never had such stellar service in such a busy environment until this day. Eventually more bartenders showed up and let me say, the bartender Adrianna was excellent. I never had to wait longer than a minute for my next order and she was very kind every time. I've worked and managed bars/restaurants in the past and I would be proud to bring her onto any team any time. Great, great service from her. Additionally the drinks are all priced very fairly which is always a plus. I live about 40 minutes away, but if invited back that way, I would definitely make the trip out.

I went to this bar around 10pm on a fri and as soon as i got there I saw alot of ppl and dj playing classics,bachata, hip hop. My wife and me had a blast from beginning to end, drinks r decent prices, the vibe was gd, the owner was kool and friendly. This bar is the spot to drink and dance and have a gr8 time. This bar seems to be more for a older crowd like 30+ which is gd 4 me lol.

Stopped here during a train crawl with friends. Conveniently located just steps from the Metra station. Best stop of the evening. Smaller dive bar, but very friendly people! Good beer and a great price, jukebox, a couple TV's, two dartboards and a pool table. What more could you ask for??
