After staying here a few times, I have trouble understanding the majority of negative reviews for this hotel - I've had nothing but wonderful experiences here each time I've stayed! I'm nervous when it comes to cleanliness, and my rooms in Arlo have always felt extremely clean to me. No shower mold, no gross floors, etc. The staff has been so personable & friendly to me, and really going above & beyond regarding late checkouts, etc, with a great attitude. I never felt like a bother. The smart TV worked great, and I also LOVED the water pressure in the showers! Thanks so much for a great stay - I'll be back for sure!

Positives:
- Comfortable bed
- Fast WiFi
- Good location
- Receptionist dealing with my check-out successfully resolved overcharging issue and was pleasant to deal with

Negatives:
- Lots of overcharging: there were attempts to double charge me and my colleagues to the point where we'd have lost several hundred dollars each if we hadn't checked accounts and queried the bill. We had paid on booking but were then told we were being charged again on check-out. The hotel also tried to charge us no-show fees despite us having notified them in good time that our flight had been cancelled so we would be arriving late. The concept of no-show fees is bizarre to me in any case as they already had our money for those nights so they were not losing out in any way!

- The whole place felt geared towards making you spend as much as possible for as little as possible in return. Two fortune cookies were the only freebies on offer - everything else in the room was charged (not even any way of getting your own hot water for a tea and coffee machines in all but one of our rooms didn't work). We were told we had a $15 credit per day, but it turned out we were paying an additional urban fee that covered this, so it wasn't really a credit at all. And you couldn't apply it to anything on the happy hour menu. I'm unsure why this urban fee is charged as the things it covers I'd expect to be part of a hotel's standard service.

- Over the five days that I spent at the hotel, only once did a staff member at reception acknowledge/greet me. It costs nothing to make guests feel welcome, but this lack of acknowledgement contributed to an overall impression of just wanting to make money out of people, which is a real shame.

The rooms were nice besides having a bad view. The food in the lobby came out quick and tasted good, the lobby itself was nice with great furniture, and lots of books. The location was right in the middle of the acton everywhere we went was in walking distance and took no longer than 10 minutes. This was a great way to spend time with family, and I would for sure come back again

We had an amazing stay at Arlo Chicago for our anniversary! From the moment we arrived, Ali at the front desk made us feel so welcomed. She was incredibly pleasant and let us know we’d been given a fantastic room for our special occasion. To our surprise, the staff also left us a customized card congratulating us and expressing how happy they were to be part of our special day—it was such a thoughtful and sweet gesture. On top of that, they treated us to two complimentary drinks at the bar, which truly made our stay extra special.

The hotel itself was so clean, and the location was perfect for exploring Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (The Bean), which were the highlights of our trip. Everything was within walking distance, making it so convenient.

A huge thank you to Ali and the entire team for making our anniversary so memorable. We highly recommend Arlo Chicago and look forward to staying here again in the future!

BED BUGS! BEWARE!! I was bitten more than 40 times by bed bugs at the Arlo Hotel in Chicago on Saturday, January 25, 2025. I woke up Sunday morning itchy (I have reactive skin, so I welted instantly), and upon inspecting the pillows and bedding, I found evidence of bed bugs at all stages of their life cycle - dead and alive. I captured two bed bugs under coffee cups and watched one crawl by while I was recording video footage of the entire room. I had to bag all of our personal belongings and replace one full set of winter-appropriate clothing (including shoes and coats), head to toe, for myself AND my 8-year-old son to ensure we didn’t take any bugs into our friend’s car or into our home. I was told to provide the receipts for these purchases, but the hotel now refuses reimburse me. I am now on day 4 of a high dose steroid to alleviate the histamine reaction of 40 BITES and am already showing signs of scarring. I requested a copy of the pest control report that made a positive identification of the bed bugs (which was confirmed in a voicemail left by the manager of housekeeping) and have been met with silence. I will be sharing photos and videos with the Chicago Department of Public Health and have initiated contact with a lawyer. If/when this happens to you, demand a written incident report with details on how they are handling it, because they will not follow through with their spoken word. I do not believe my situation has been handled properly - both on a customer service level and on a legal level.
