This is the best omakase course you can do in Chicago. The price is justified by not only the quality of the dishes but the size/quantity of the dishes. You won’t leave feeling hungry which I find to be a common issue with other omakase courses. The presentation of every dish was unique and really highlighted the item brought out. Highly recommend, can’t wait to go back.

We did a la carte and everything was outstanding. The space is inviting and warm—especially in the booths! The service was a bit too quick sometimes when dropping off items, but if you have questions they’re definitely willing to help. Given how complex some of the dishes are and that I’m by no means a fish expert, the almost drive-by speed announcements when delivering items sometimes made it difficult to understand what was placed on our table. Other than that it seemed to be good value and I’m definitely looking forward to trying out the omakase next time! We especially enjoyed the maguro pearls, the polenta bites that had a wonderful warm creamy polenta wrapped in escolar, the taro tuna-scallop handroll, orange rush, and the chef’s choice sashimi which had delicious cuts of fish.

Visited for the first time with my mom and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Kai Zan! The hospitality was stellar - our server Kong(?) did an amazing job walking us through the menu and the rest of the staff running food were very attentive when explaining the dishes.

We ordered one omakase set, two sets of maki, the dynamite bite (grilled scallops), and matcha creme brûlée for dessert.

Everything was delicious! There wasn’t a single dish we didn’t like. The fish and seafood all tasted very clean and fresh.

Highly recommend dining here!!

Very nice and cozy place for dinner.

The food is delicious!! I recommend pork belly. I don't like pork belly but this was very flavorful.

The staff is friendly and are on top of things.

Went here for my wife’s birthday.  She is a seafood lover and also of omakase. Everything tasted fresh and was very flavorful.  We were also pleasantly full at the end of the meal.

Vi har varit här runt 8 - 10 gånger nu. Allt vi har haft har varit helt utsökt, och servicen är genomgående bra. Alla rätter inklusive sushirullarna är genomtänkt upplagda där varje tugga är utsökt. Det här är det bästa sushistället vi har hittat i västra stan. Efter så många middagar har vi inte fått en dålig bit än. Vi får normalt 5 frallor och ibland en förrätt och är helt nöjda. Vår favoritrulle är den kryddiga Toro Maki. Det är på den dyrare sidan av rullar men det är en generös portion tonfisk i varje tugga och smakerna är fantastiska. Be om en monter för avskildhet om du vill, be om en sushibarplats om du vill se kockarna på jobbet. Annars sitter du vid ett vanligt bord mitt i händelsernas centrum och de går också bra. Det är oftast där vi sitter och vi gillar det. Ingen dålig plats i huset.

Första besöket 2020 och sedan förra sommaren. . . Konsekvent hög kvalitet som alltid. Hade den nya Omakase-menyn som var 9 kurser med olika traditionella och icke traditionella artiklar.

Min dotter och svärfärd tog mig till middag här för min födelsedag. Jag älskar sushi och är alltid villig att prova nya smaker. Maten är fantastisk. Allt vi åt smakade fantastiskt. Rekommendera varmt att du besöker om du är en sushi-aficionado.

Om du blinkar med att köra nedför Chicago Avenue kanske du missar denna oas av kulinarisk lyx, men en gång inuti kommer du att transporteras till en restaurang som känns långt borta från stadsdelen West Town. Linda och jag hade nöjet att äta middag på Kai Zan för första gången och åtnjöt en spektakulär måltid som fyllde våra smaklökar med upprepade överraskningar från vackra konstverk skapade specifikt för munnen. Om du letar efter en speciell plats eller söker en fantastisk matupplevelse är Kai Zan det absolut bästa valet. Om du har turen att ha Justyn som din server kommer du att njuta av denna läckra matupplevelse desto mer.

Det finns inte många ord jag kan säga som skulle göra rättvisa till Kai Zans Pre Fixe-menymeny. Det är 7 kurser (om jag inte misstänker), utsökt, oerhört mångsidig och till ett bra pris jämfört med Chicago restauranger ($ 70 per person).

Var noga med att boka bord i förväg, restaurangen är liten och fylls mycket snabbt, men om du inte har säkrat ett bord kan du alltid registrera dig på väntelistan!

Om du gillar japansk mat (inte bara sushi), rekommenderas denna plats starkt!

Wow . Min fru och jag har haft sushi på många riktigt bra sushi restauranger, det är utan tvekan bäst. Fantastisk service, fantastisk mat. Smakmenyn är mycket bra med en bra mängd olika rätter. Prova pärlbitarna och kolla in en daglig special. Brian var vår servitör, oklanderlig service.

Maten är mycket bra för att jag tidigare varit i Kai Zan. Men när jag nyligen gjorde en reservation för att återvända med vänner hade jag en mycket ovanlig upplevelse. När restaurangen ringde för att bekräfta min bokning för fyra (dagen innan den planerade måltiden) fick jag veta att det är restaurangens policy att parterna i fyra måste lämna bord på två timmar. Jag tycker att det är ganska motbjudande. Det finns väldigt få helgmiddagar som är inslagna på under 2 timmar. Gud förbjuder att vi njuter av en cocktail eller två och går till 2 och 1/2! Det finns gott om utmärkta restauranger i Chicago. Jag kommer inte att returnera här eftersom jag njuter av att äta mer än att äta!

Var informerade detta var en riktig äkta japansk restaurang, rekommenderar starkt av japanska. . . Men jag trodde att det var alldeles för amerikaniserad, med alla de såser som täcker upp sub - par produkter.

För priset, ok, jag bör inte förvänta sig de förstklassiga, men ändå, var jag förväntade oss mer. . .

Detta påminde mig mer av restauranger som Sushi Samba och Doraku. . .

Det var inte dålig. Men, om det här är den " bästa sushi " du har någonsin haft, kan jag starkt rekommendera en resa till Tokyo och gångavstånd in i någon sushi restaurang?

Jag är inte säker om Chicago, men det finns mycket bättre alternativ i sina ställen ett sådant som Honolulu, London och New York.

Jag hoppas att finna bättre i Chicago också.

Sammantaget en mycket trevlig middag på Kai Zan. Massor av mycket god örontasslarens vackert presenterad. Exklusiva Sushi med ett pris som matchar. Älskade det. Vi kommer tillbaka.

Kai Zan är en mycket speciell plats att alltid serverar god mat. Jag är inte super du dig äventyrlig men jag älskade verkligen allt på deras Omakase meny. Jag gillade också ett par sushi (Shitake Maki och Lax) vi provade och detta var en annan nivå av sushi.

Jag skrev ett omdöme om Kai Zan förra året och yrat om hur underbart det var. Vi har varit tillbaka flera gången sedan dess. Jag är förvånad över hur de hålla på och ändra deras meny. Just när du tycker att de inte kan eventuellt få bättre. . . De göra! Det här är vår favorit sushi restaurang och en av våra favoriter i den Chicago område.
