We decided to give this restaurant a try as it is the first Michelin Filipino restaurant in the town. Their breakfast burger is really special and it brings the taste of Filipino foods but combined with American flavor. Really special! It will take a long way to get in to order. So make sure you order online before coming to pick up. That way will be so much faster. The burgers have low to high price, but it is worth to try.

I came here at 8:40 on a Friday in the cold, and waited about 30 min.

I got the classic breakfast sandwich with sausage, and a few pastries.

My impression here is this place is well run but lives off of the hype - the sandwich was excellent, carried by the egg and the sausage, but I still expected it to be even better based on how many people wait daily for this. The bread and cheese are very very standard, and the sausage is thin. The hash brown isn’t very thick either.

I think the pastries are solid, but there are places that have pastries as good as this too.

Come Early for the Pastries—but Be Ready to Wait

If you’re planning to visit Kasama, make sure to get there early! I arrived around 8:10, and there were already people waiting in line—even in freezing rain. This spot is definitely popular, so be prepared for a bit of a wait.

When it comes to the savory food, it was good but not particularly memorable. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth the long wait—it’s solid, but nothing that blew me away.

Now, the pastries? Absolutely worth it! I tried four different kinds, and each one was delicious. I’d gladly wait in line again just to get my hands on those pastries. If you’re a fan of baked goods, this is definitely the place to go!

Great experience. I would say it’s worth it to try the tasting menu once; I’m not positive I would return for it though. I do want to try the breakfast. Impeccable service of course and an intimate setting.

My husband and I found some of the courses way too salty; not sure if those are supposed to be that way or not but it didn’t quite fit our palates.
Standouts for sure are the truffle croissant (absolutely amazing) and the Wagyu in peanut sauce. Would recommend!

My main purpose for visiting Chicago was to try Kasama, and it really did not disappoint!! I was able to do dinner AND breakfast there and both are two unique experiences. The dinner was amazing. As someone who is Filipino, this is the first time I’ve had a Filipino fine-dining experience that blew me away. Each course was elevated but somehow still tasted like a home-cooked meal. And of course the breakfast sandwich!! The hype is real on that one. All the pastries I got were so freaking good but I would 100% recommend the truffle croissant. They served it at dinner as part of the dessert but got it again for breakfast since it was so good lol. Really wish I lived close by to this place! I’d spend all my money here 🥲
