Perfect 👌 night! We sat at the bar and was taken care of by Raquel and Jose. Their service was outstanding and fun. My husband and I shared a variety of dishes that were all delicious and unique. You can taste the quality and care. Bonus, we were able to watch the ladies make pasta all night and it was mesmerizing. Go to Monteverde and eat at the bar if you’re lucky.

Came here with my girlfriend for our anniversary dinner and had such a great experience! Excellent food period. Such rich and delicious flavors with every dish. The Spaghetti and the Tagliatelle were soo good! Wagyu skewers are must!

We normally don’t spend this much for food, but heard very positive things about this place so we thought why not.

Food was delicious but I wasn’t impressed with the dessert. Cacio e pepe was creamy and not too salty.

Our server was super nice, explained to us how they served food there. The tables were a bit too close. But otherwise than that I liked the atmosphere in the restaurant.

You have to make a reservation but if it needs to be changed,staff was very helpful via email.

Probably the best pasta I've ever had is here. And no, I'm not exaggerating for the sake of this review. The most amazing texture of the pasta and the noodles, the most composed dishes, and with all the flavors that will make this meal a core memory.

You honestly can't go wrong with of the pasta choices so just choose which ever ones tickles your fancy.

Instead, we were greeted with four pasta dishes—yes, four (and I’m not counting ravioli or gnocchi because, honestly, they don’t count as "main" pasta dishes in this context). One of those was a *wok-fried arrabbiata*. Wok-fried. In an Italian restaurant. If I wanted Thai food, I’d have gone to a Thai place. Spoiler alert: it was the worst thing we ordered.

And let’s talk about the hype—oh, the hype. We waited nearly a month for a table, thinking we were about to step into the sacred halls of culinary greatness. What we got instead was... fine. Just fine. The service? Impeccable. Our server was the sweetest, and the staff clearly knows how to make you feel pampered. But the tables? Cramped so close together we were basically invited into our neighbors’ conversations. Now, onto the food. We started with the wagyu beef skewers—tender and delicious, but at $14 per skewer, they might as well have served it on a gold-plated stick. The ‘nduja arancini? Sicilian rice fritters with manchego cheese—not bad at all. Lillian’s stuffed cabbage with porcini bolognese and crispy polenta ($26, plus $2 for a fried hen egg) was... interesting. Not life-changing, but interesting. Then we moved to the entrées.

The wok-fried arrabbiata (tagliolini, ground shrimp, breadcrumbs, chile garlic oil for $28) was, as previously mentioned, a total miss. Not Italian in the slightest, and honestly, not even good. The chitarra alla boscaiola (prosciutto and porcini ragù, artichoke, crispy chicken skin for $30) fared much better. Finally, some al dente pasta—an endangered species in the land of overcooked noodles.

But the real star of the evening? The tiramisu. Oh, the tiramisu! In a world where most Italian restaurants massacre this classic by drowning the ladyfingers in espresso, Monteverde delivered a masterpiece. Vi bokade Monteverde för kvällen innan maraton och älskade absolut allt om det - för det första platsen kändes verkligen grannskap och vänlig (och bort från den livliga downtown & river area) , för det andra atmosfären var stor (surrande och mysiga) och för det tredje maten & Servicen var lysande. Menyn var intressant och utsökt. Bra priser också. Jag skulle starkt rekommendera Monteverde om du letar efter en riktigt trevlig upplevelse i Chicago.

Bakom baren finns en specialbyggd Pastificio, där teamet skapar handgjorda pastaprodukter under hela dagen, färska och utställda. Tips: Monteverde handlar om pasta. Jag började med Sarahs Spuntino med parmigiano reggiano, handrullad grissini, hantverkssalami och balsamico från husets batteria och Omas bergssallad med liten ädelsallat, avokado och knapriga grönsaker och räkor scampi på halvskalet med rostad vitlök, calabria chile, Yukonpotatis, citron och fänkålspollen. Till min förrätt hade jag ett stort beslut att ta: köttbulleravioli med pomodoro, Yukonpotatis, toskansk grönkål, vild oregano och pecorino romano eller spaghetti al pomodoro med rostade tomater, basilika, ugnstorkade körsbärstomater och chilivitlöksolja med soppressataköttbullar. Tyvärr, ravioli, men spagetti och köttbullar vinner den här striden varje gång. Och jag blev inte besviken. Till efterrätt valde jag pannacotta. Många anledningar till varför Monteverde är en av Chicagos finaste restauranger.

Tredje gången här. Köttbullsraviolin var fantastisk och gick i min till tio-lista. Cacio Pepe var intetsägande och inte särpräglad. Bra service, tuff reservation.

Jag gick med min fru på lunch. Vi blev sittande snabbt, behandlade till utsökt mat på ett vänligt och professionellt sätt, och atmosfären var trevlig. Man kunde se folk göra pasta för hand i restaurangens huvudrum. Viktigast av allt, antipasti och mains vi hade var mums och prissatt alla rätt. Rekommenderas.

Enastående mat och service! Vi hade en mängd olika förrätter och förrätter, gnocchi och kött förrätter var fantastisk. Vi beställde också dessert och olika cocktails, allt var utsökt.

Monteverde imponerar konsekvent på alla fronter, från drinkarna till matupplevelsen. Jag inledde lunchen med en perfekt kryddad Bloody Mary, följt av ett glas Beconcini Chianti Reserve — en stjärnparning för vad som skulle komma. Till lunch delade vi en utsökt lineup: krämig Burrata med prosciutto "slider", den krispiga Arancini Rica, fyllig Scampi på Shell, oförglömlig Texas Redfish (alltid ett måste) och en läcker, hjärtlig Lasagne som aldrig sviker. 

Servicen är genomgående exceptionell, med uppmärksam personal som höjer upplevelsen utan att vara påträngande. Det öppna köket ger en engagerande touch, vilket ger matgästerna en första parkett till den kulinariska magiska utvecklingen. Smakerna är inget annat än fantastiska – djärva men ändå raffinerade, som visar upp det bästa av det italienska köket med en modern twist. Oavsett om du är här för en affärslunch eller en avslappnad middag, levererar Monteverde en upplevelse värd att njuta av. 

Även om du inte kan ta en bokning, är det absolut värt att vänta på en plats i baren. I en stad fylld av italienska alternativ, Monteverde sticker ut som en av landets finaste.

Bästa italienska i hela Chicago - subtil men smakrik, med oväntade vändningar och lager. Allt är fantastiskt men pastan är stjärnan.

Monteverde utmärkte sig på alla sätt under vår middag där. Bergsalladen var exceptionell i sin fräschör och dressingen tog fram de individuella smakerna av ingredienserna. Det var den godaste sallad jag någonsin ätit på någon restaurang i mina 60 plus år av restaurang middag. Wokstekt scampi var perfekt förberedd och en fest för ögon och tunga. Arrabbiata pastan var kryddig och sublim. Den enkla öknen med vaniljglass med kokos och chokladkaka var uppfriskande i smaken. Alex, vår servitör, var professionell och informativ om menyn, hjälper oss att hitta rätt val för vårt första besök på denna Chicago italienska institution. Hela kvällen fick oss att önska att inte vara turister som besöker men Chicago invånare.

Jag försökte så länge att få en reservation här och det var värt att vänta. Det var en av de bättre upplevelser vi haft på länge. Höjdpunkterna inkluderade A RTI CH O K E &
S U N CH O K E CROSTI N O (så gott) , S MO K E D FI S H DI P, RED KURI SQUASH AGRODOLCE (fantastiskt) och BL ACKENED TEX AS KINGFISH ALL A PL ANCHA. Detta var en av de bästa fiskrätter någonsin. Kombinationen av den kalabriska chile crunch med krispiga fingerling potatis och mandlar var sinnlig. Födelsedagstårtan var beroendeframkallande - den hade munvattnande brynt maräng på utsidan med chokladsås. Mums!

Vilken fantastisk måltid det här var. Vi var ett sällskap på tre personer med en carboloading inför nästa dags Chicago Marathon-löpning. Atmosfären var livlig. Vi började med de små tuggorna av tomatarancini och aubergine parm. Arancini var krispig på utsidan och sprudlade av smak. Presentationen av auberginen var vacker men smaken var inte lika minnesvärd som de andra rätterna. Vi hade 3 pasta som alla var utmärkta - zlikrofi var krämig, nötkött och peperoncini ravioli och även spaghetti pomodoro. Definitivt rekommendera och skulle återvända om vi bodde någonstans i närheten här.

Denna plats är mycket bullriga och du måste skrika för att höras. Alltid en nackdel, särskilt för en fin matupplevelse. Alternativen för cocktailsprit verkade ganska begränsade = ingen Bombay Saphire och bara få goda bourboner. De hade en omfattande italiensk vinlista. 

De har mest tallrikar att dela som är större än förrätten storlek men mindre än en full portion. Kyparen föreslog 3 eller 4 att dela. Vi beställde plancha Texas kungsfisk som var mycket god och serverades i en zingy sås. Vi beställde två pasta - bräserad nötkött tortelli och gnoccetti con pesto. Båda var mycket bra men kunde ha varit varmare. Vi tog varsin cocktail och ett glas vin. Totalsumman före dricks var 196 dollar. Sammantaget mycket god mat men inte den bästa italienska vi någonsin haft.

Ganska process för att göra en bokning men tack och lov fick vi en plats. Så många underbara smaker. Verkligen njöt av röd fisk och förrätt med svamp. Pastarätter var dock lite av en besvikelse. Rätterna var dyra för storleken på serveringen. Restaurangen är högljudd när den fylls upp. Ständig ström av beskyddare.
