revisited for the first time in years for a friend’s chicago marathon carbo-load and it was just as wonderful as i remembered. the food was delicious, and our server’s recommendations were fantastic. my only complaint is that we felt a draft come in every time the door opened despite there being two sets of double doors, and that our table was definitely too small for how many dishes we ordered 🤣

we tried the insalata di mare, funghi e salsiccia pizza, ciotta ciotta stuffed pizza, marathon spaghetti & meatballs, paccheri alla boscaiola pasta, sarracino pasta, scialatielli di nella pasta, and chocolate lava cake. their pizzas are delicious, but their pastas were definitely the highlight for me. i especially enjoyed the scialatielli di nella, which was a red sauce pasta with lobster and other seafood flavors. the mussels in it were super tasty, and they melted in my mouth when they were warm

This is my #1 favorite restaurant in Chicago, and has been ever since I moved here in 2017. I've probably eaten at Nella over 100 times and have been blown away every time by the quality of the food, the service, and the atmosphere. I almost always order the margherita pizza, which is consistently well-made with quality ingredients. And I feel uniquely qualified to rate a Neapolitan-style pizza as someone who has traveled to Naples multiple times and even spent a week learning pizzamaking there.

I've also taken place in more informal pizzamaking classes that Nella has arranged for groups (in our case, a group of grad students at UChicago). See the attached photos. Nella did a wonderful job of accommodating the event and making sure everyone had a delicious meal.

I don't have any photos of it right now, but the outdoor patio is outstanding and a fun way to dine on summer evenings.

I have dined here several times and love it!!  The service is always extraordinary with kind and attentive waitstaff.
The food is always incredible; their appetizers, pasta and pizza are all delicious.
I would highly recommend stopping in for a meal!

Just discovered this place after walking past for what send like years. The calamari was good and the pasta was excellent. I didn't know this neighborhood spot had such great food and I haven't heard about it. I'll definitely be back. Absolutely.

As a person born and raised in Italy, I’m always looking for a place that reminds me of my country. Nella is an authentic Italian restaurant. Pizza is really good, and pasta well prepared and with the right amount of sauce. And the location is simple, warm, with tons of light
