St. Clair Supper Club, located in the basement of Roister and The Aviary is Alinea Group’s supper club.

With the ambience and style simplistic and homey, and the service good but a bit ‘looser’ than their Michelin-starred restaurants, SCSC is a fun spot for a fun dinner.

We enjoyed our meal, and had some really fantastic food (most notably the appetizers, sides and especially dessert), although both entrees were somewhat disappointing, which is a bit of a letdown since it’s really the only two entrees on the menu.

The prime rib is just not all that special. Sure, the mandatory medium rare cook is executed well, but even the smallest cut (Queen) gives you a giant plate of meat that’s just a bit… bland. And there’s no room for anything else on the plate.

Luckily the sides provided a lot of flavor to go with other entree, the Canadian whitefish, was also not a massive success. It felt a bit oily and fatty, and the herb crust tasted somewhat burnt.

The closer of the evening, the chocolate cake with absolutely magical red fruit compote, was stunningly delicious though.

We will be back to try the other desserts, and may very well just stick with appetizers and sides ;)

Spent $240 for two people.

Good: Cute speakeasy like atmosphere. But really, nothing exceptional.
Very tasty deviled eggs, ridiculous serving size for price. Pavlova was good, soft in the middle.

Ok: Cheese curds are normal quality. Dessert cakes were dry and underwhelming.

Bad: Whitefish crust was burnt and mushy at the same time. The butter it was served in had an extremely burnt flavor. I scraped off the ‘crust’ and was left with a plain under seasoned but well cooked fish. Not worth $30+.
The sides were competent.
Pickle backs were fun but I could easily have this at home.
My husband had the schnitzel. Dry and the breading was so overwhelmingly herb forward it was a negative.
Tasted my friend’s prime rib, again competent.
Overall, will not be back. Too expensive for what it was good at and frankly, I left annoyed at my burnt meal.

Absolutely amazing! The service is top notch. The prime rib was likely the best I’ve ever had. Try the cheese curds appetizer. The potato and carrot sides were delicious. Carrots were glazed and just sweet enough - not overly sweet. Not cooked too long and not too underdone. Like many places do. Also the cocktails were great. They will make you a classic that’s not on the menu if you ask. We sat at the counter and watched the team Work. Great experience!!

Meh. That’s the best way to describe this food.  I thought we’d be getting one of the best prime ribs you could ever have, but this is just standard you can get much better prime rib anywhere - and other places would let you get it less rare.  Also, instead of a more standard Au jus - they tried to fancy it up it’s more of a thicker Demi glaze- while nice for a bite or two you end up really missing a standard prime rib au jus.

The chicken Cordon Bleu was horrible! I ordered it because I haven’t had one in like 20 years and it’s rare to see it on an actual menu here in the US. All three of us  took one bite and left the rest.

The brussels sprouts were ok, but the mushrooms were not great at all- they were overly chard without a great flavor, and too large. The mashed potatoes were fine.

The deviled eggs were good, but just because they have truffle, didn’t make them much better than others

The grasshopper pie was what I was the most excited about next to the prime rib  - but it was only OK. It needs some thing else maybe like some dark chocolate or a thicker cookie crust because that mousse  Jell-O type mint filling is extremely rich and overpowering with mint it needs something to help balance a bit.

I gave them 2 stars here since the grasshopper pie and the brussels sprouts we’re not horrible, but the rest meh!

The service was great but honestly, the food is just nothing special at all- I should have read the reviews first

Just go to a standard steakhouse, or a prime rib spot will be better food and value

Restaurangen är mörk och liknar en lönnkrog från 1920-talet. Vi kom tidigt och satt i baren (trots att alla bord i princip var tomma). Vi satt i det enda båset i restaurangen vilket var trevligt. Martinis var välsmakande, men hällarna var små. Ostronen var också ganska små. Du var tvungen att be om bröd flera gånger och bara tillräckligt för en person. Vinlistan var utmärkt och dyr, och vi har haft två stora australiska röda viner. Schnitzeln var god smak, och klyftsalladen var utmärkt. Dessutom var ostmassan riktigt god och nygjord. Revbensspjället (restaurangens special) var segt och fett. För priset, verkligen en besvikelse. Servicen var utmärkt och vänlig av den stora servitören, Connor. Sammantaget fann jag måltiden underwhelming och medioker och rekommenderar inte.

Maten och atmosfären var i bästa fall genomsnittliga. Inget exceptionellt här utom vår servitris. Om det inte var för henne hade vår hela matupplevelse varit en förlust.

Ja, vi var tvungna att ge tabellen tillbaka klockan 7. 15.00 men vi gjorde det lätt, med tid att spara. Servicebrister förstörde bara allt.

Mat - klokt - vi hade Caesar sallad - bra men för salt, räkor cocktail - bra och Oyster Rocka - bra. Till huvudsak hade vi remsan med sidor. Kött var utmärkt, svampens sida var för salt och 50: 50-mäskan var tydligt genomsnittlig.

Dessert - gräshoppa pajen - helt enkelt genomsnitt. Konsistensen var helt fel i fyllningen och borde verkligen ha varit lättare - som en mousse.

Maten var fantastisk men förstår inte hur du kan ta slut på en av endast två förrätter på menyn till de priser de tar ut. Mycket pretentiös miljö där de inte var mycket tillmötesgående vilket är motsatsen till en klubb i Wisconsin Supper. Alltför komplicerat för att beställa prime ribben som är den enda förrätten på menyn. Det insisterar på sig själv.

Vi läste om detta i Tribune, och eftersom vi älskar middagsklubbar, ville ge det ett försök. Det är en annan restaurang av Grant Achatz, så du vet att det kommer att bli dyrt att gå in. Bra. Recensionerna raved om primer revben, vilket är anledningen att gå. Vi bokade ett bord för en födelsedagsfirande och var lättade över att hitta att vi faktiskt fick ett bord; utrymmet, i utrymmet på hans restaurang Roister, är litet litet och sittplatser vid räknaren räknas uppenbarligen som ett bord. Utmärkt restaurang och mitt favoritkoncept från denna restauranggrupp. Enkel meny med mycket solid utförande. Satt i baren (endast bokningar - bar är en del av matsalen sittplatser) längs köket.
