This is the kind of place I will send my family to when I'm out of town and they are looking for a place that is safe and steady, particularly for the 50+ community. We came in for dinner two weeks ago and tried the calamari, shrimp risotto and the gnocchi. All of it was fine. I would never get any of these dishes again, but I didn't mind a single bite. The big plus at Jim & Pete's is the portion size; for $110 (we got a bottle of white), we got a lot of food, wine, and a good environment with a very attentive server who almost certainly is from Europe...because like my other trips to Italy, she left us alone for long stretches, which I asked for and appreciated because I was there for a date night. For Italian food in Chicago, there are at least 20 places I would hit first. But, for a place around the corner from my house that is reliable, you can do a lot worse than Jim & Pete's.

My Sr. Training Specialist treated me to lunch here so we could have a one on one meeting to discuss her development plan and to update me on a project she is working on. She gave me a choice of three places to pick from and I chose this place based on the menu. This place is also near her home and is a go to place for her family, which is why she included it in the selection process. So based on her recommendation and the menu, we went here. The restaurant itself is on the small side, but they do have an additional outdoor area that is covered. When we walked in, there were several groups of parties of 5 or more people and the crowd was older, but there were some kids scattered about. We were presented with the lunch menu and I got their meatball puff as I normally don't do a heavy lunch and had a meeting to go back to. Lawdy, that puff was amazing! Loaded with cheese and meatballs, it packed a punch. Our server brought over takeout containers, but there was no need for one for me as I finished that joker off! It was so good that I started in on it and forgot to take a picture before cutting into it. The puff itself was interesting as it was pizza dough, but it was more like a bread, nice and soft with a lovely brown color. I loved that it came with the marinara sauce and a decent amount to cover the puff. This was so good that was thinking about the next day. The dinner menu looked interesting and I would like to bring The Doctor and Queen there for dinner. But I might have to consider going to lunch here again just as a treat as I don't often go out. But I know I will hear that Meatball Puff calling my name.

Lovely I went there 5 years ago . We went there for an event. And now we booked for another , this time it was for all of us for my bday. The ambiance is nice. The manager and gm were very nice. The food was not good at all, there were 7 adults 3 children. I had a chicken franchise. I can't believe it but it was actually dry, not too many spices at all. I dont recommend that plate. My daughter had salmon hers, which was very dry as well. My hubby had a taste for pizza, so he had the anchovies on it. There weren't many. He didn't eat it. The mac and cheese was also dry and crusty. The grandkids liked there's though they had a small pizza.I felt bad because I had some ppl travel 2 hours to go there and mostly we were disappointed in the quality of food. obviously, we must have gotten some leftovers. I would not go back. Not for the amount of money that you pay for, no. The server had not picked up plates, and I think she had an issue with her shoulder We also had to flag her down to get refills ( I did ask the manager) . Sadly when we were younger we went there all the time. Last time, it was my nephew s bday. My kids haven't been there in years. Oh yeah, the clams are a joke. omg, drowning in butter , now don't get me wrong. we all love butter on clams, but we actually had to play find a clam. And yes, barely anything in them we had more fun making fun of them than eating them ,(and no we pretty much only had 3 out of 12) . Yes, it was quite a lesson. See pics. The antipasto tray was ok, barley any vinegar on it, though. On the nice side they did have good buns.

unfortunately, beside the fact that this place is extremely outdated it's pretty dirty. The tables are covered with white butcher paper, but they must be trying to save a couple of bucks on the paper because they just leave the paper after seatings they don't even try to improve the Appearance of the table. The paper should be free of any kind of food, debris, or rings from drinks or platters or plates.. The tablecloth itself should also be free of debris on the sides, especially red sauce. The staff loves to talk to each other, but when it comes to the patrons, our table felt very ignored. The restaurant itself is not very clean as you would imagine the staff is using the bathroom as well as the customers it should be kept clean. The service is lacking as well. If you could please try to get all the food out at one time - if you need help with an expediter, you would think that some of the staff who was just hanging around, leaning on the walls talking to each other would help a fellow server, but that was not the case. further, the food was not seasoned, did not have the proper ingredients as specified on the menu, if you're trying to serve Italian food, there are so many other places to go where the food has the proper ingredients and at a good temperature level. Have been to this restaurant since the 1970s, so it's not like I'm unfamiliar with the protocol of a good restaurant which this place used to be. Would definitely not Recommend and will not be returning.

We order their pizza regularly and it is delicious! We also order their eggplant appetizers and they are delicious and enough for a meal. The staff is friendly and the service is great. It is our go-to restaurant in Elmwood Park and th perfect place for a martini and appetizer, a social meal, or a place to celebrate special life events.

Absolutely delicious food. Had the pork shank special. Tender, juicy and flavorful. Also a huge portion. Service was perfect and even brought a nice ice cream Sunday for my 96 year old mom's birthday. Just another great evening at Jim and Pete's.

The best veggie pizza I've ever had is here. I keep coming back for the crisp thin crust and great tasting veggie pizza. I think it's a little garlic that ties it all together and there is so much variety of the veggies from broccoli, olives to spinach, mushroom, onion and tomato. Really tasty. Goes great with a Chianti. Arugula salad is great too. Service is top notch and friendly vibe every time we're there. Love it.

Went for lunch with my family and we had a great experience. Our waiter was so friendly and brought us fresh, warm bread right away. My daughter and I both said the pasta e fagioli soup was the best soup we've ever had. It was light yet hearty and the perfect thing for a blustery Chicago day with snowflakes falling outside. The pasta and pizza are excellent as well. We'll definitely be back, and I'll be dreaming about their soup until then.
