I used to love Portillo's. It was always my go-to fast food choice, but the quality of the food has steadily declined over the years. Initially, I thought it was the location, but that has proven false. From the city (Canal) to Villa Park to New Lenox or Naperville, it's all the same. The food simply doesn't taste the same. I'm inclined to blame covid, but I honestly think the decline started happening before that. I stopped by this location and picked up a couple of dogs and fries to go. The fries were lukewarm by the time I got to the car, and the fry container wasn't generously filled. They tasted okay, though. At least they didn't taste like they'd been fried in old grease. The soda was flat, and the hot dogs were just okay as well. I've had this ongoing argument with a colleague who has always contended that Portillo's is "trash." Lately, I haven't been able to combat his point of view. This location does have a cool retro feel, though. It felt like a 50s diner, which was cool. The restaurant appeared clean, and the service was fine. The young lady who rang up my order was pleasant. I'm going to have to find another go-to fast food restaurant.

My husband wanted to experience his first Chicago beefs sandwich so our friend brought us here. The person taking our order outside didn't hand us a menu until we had already placed our order. I ordered a Breaded Whitefish Sandwich and cheese fries already per my friend's suggestion. Then I saw the menu and and am pleased to see they now carry a plant based hot dog. Mental note to try the plant-based dog next time because I really want one! We got our food to go so we didn't see the inside of the establishment. My husband got his Italian beef sandwich "wet" dipped in the juice. He really liked it - he wolfed it down - and he described it as "hefty" meaning he didn't need to eat the rest of the day haha. My friends got double hot peppers on theirs. My fish sandwich was good, with a piece of melted cheese and lettuce on top. The French fries are crinkle cut and the sauce is a gooey nacho sauce. I was so hungry I barely tasted them. Overall a good fast food meal and met our expectations.

My family goes there for lunch about once a month. We are never disappointed. Food is really tasty. My family are huge fans of the Chocolate Malt and always ask for extra malt. Their Italian beef with hot peppers is one of my favorites. And you can't forget about their iconic Chicago-style hot dogs. The restaurant is always clean. The help are super friendly.

After a long wait due to only one cashier, we were disappointed by the food. I asked for a cheesy beef on a crescent, the cheese was barely present, the beef was dry, and sweet pepper cost an extra $99 only to get one slice. The fries were extra hard. There is no consistently from store to store. I have never been disappointed with Portillos until today. I will say one positive note there was in the who I didn't want to bother with my complaint because she was working extra hard trying to keep things moving.

It was late. It was raining. Portillo's is down the street from my house. I go about once every two years. I ordered the cheeseburger meal, a hot dog and a chocolate shake. My boyfriend went to the pick up area to get the good. It was taking some time and I thought he might have ghosted me. Eventually, he arrives at the table with the food. The French fries are blah and the cheeseburger tastes like it had been under the nonexistent heat lamp for awhile. My food was lukewarm at best. I snuck a taste of the shake while my boyfriend got napkins. It was warm. The hot food was cold and the cold drink was hot. Do you need a temperature reader?

I was driving into town on a Saturday for a wedding and HAD to snag some Portillo's! I was able to order online for pickup 15 minutes later. Easy peasy. The interface was easy to navigate and it was easy to add or take off toppings. The orders were all correct, it was piping hot. My spicy chicken sandwich, onion rings and cheesy fries really hit the spot. This location had a plethora of parking, some great staff working the drive thru line. You have to go inside to pickup your order-- they're sitting on a shelf, labeled with your name. No complaints!

Portillos takes no nonsense from customers when ordering, so know what you want and how you want it. I always get a Big Beef, extra dipped, with hot peppers and fries. My son experienced the chocolate cake shake for the first time and he was shook. He said it was amazing but he was totally full.
