Went here for a Christmas party / event, and I really enjoyed my time and the atmosphere. This venue is very beautiful. However, I did not like most of the food and the desserts that were served here. I still enjoyed myself regardless

We visited the Chateau Del Mar while shopping for a wedding venue for my daughter's upcoming wedding. When walking out, we saw a white male in the golf grounds PURPOSELY throwing a golf ball at my daughter's SUV windshield. The ball broke the windshield, and the man loudly laughed and yelled, "Ooopps, sorry." As we were perplexed, looking at the windshield, we saw a white pickup truck leaving the parking lot with three white males on board. The driver, a white male in his late 30s, pulled down the window and yelled again, "Ooopps, that is bad, sorry," and laughed loudly again. I went inside the venue and looked for the General Manager, who identified himself as "Mike," but he refused to provide a last name. I explained the situation to him as we walked out, and in the most hostile manner, he asked, "What do you want me to do? I can't control what people do here." I asked him to please review his security cameras to track the license plate for the aggressors. His response was, "Do you see any cameras here?" and claimed there were no cameras, kept walking, and his last statement to me was, "Sorry, that is all I can say." I called the Hickory Hills Police to file a report, and while they arrived, I spotted two cameras facing the parking lot. When the police came, they spoke to "Mike" inside the venue. I was not present in their conversation, and when they came out, they said that "none of the cameras work." They asked if we knew which direction the white pickup left (an utterly nonsense question); we didn't since we were inside the parking lot. The police offered to check the traffic cameras but did not give any solid possibilities to follow up on anything. In conclusion, I find the management of Chateau del Mar to be RACIST, FRAUDULENT, UNETHICAL BUSINESS. We were the victims of an attack inside their premises, and they were unwilling to show any compassion or ethical behavior. They claimed that their security cameras don't work, and I find this to be a hazard to their customers and visitors. The result for us after visiting their premises turned out to be a traumatic experience and the unexpected cost of a new windshield. FOR YOUR SAFETY AND WELL-BEING, DO NOT BOOK ANY EVENTS AT THIS QUESTIONABLE, RACIST, DANGEROUS, AND UNETHICAL PLACE.

I had my wedding here and was basically pleased with everything here. We held our reception in the Columbia room, which is the middle room with partially frosted windows that look into the Barcelona room- this was actually fine because you can really only see the draped lights from the ceiling. Here are my pros and cons of this place: PROS: - Very affordable - Food is pretty good overall (the baked chicken, spanokopita and meatball appetizers were favorites at my wedding!) - You can bring in some of your own liquor at no additional cost to add to the bar - Dance floor is nice and large - Room is nice with draped lighting on the ceiling - The staff is friendly and easy to work with overall - There is an over abundance of couches to sit and relax on - You have access to the golf course for photos if you'd like - spacious bathroom stalls that fit a big-ass wedding dress - even though there was another way larger wedding going on in the Barcelona room, the bathroom and hallways did not seem crowded CONS: - there is only one bridal room that you can rent for the night. I wasn't the lucky bride to get it. - I requested vegetarian meals for a few people and indicated it with a "V" on their card, but these people did not get their food. When I said something to the house manager they didn't seem to believe me and wanted to check my reservation rather than fix the issue - The children also didn't get their kids meals in a timely fashion - When we went for the food tasting, it seemed like we basically just got to try whatever food they were serving at the present wedding going on. We had to make some blind choices on other food items since we didn't taste much!! This was our biggest disappointment with the place. - There can be a bit of a language barrier some times - Due to the lower price, there is less frills So take it for what you will... for the price it was definitely still worth it. We had a blast and so did our guests.

My second time attending and event here. This place is absolutely beautiful and so very elegant. Atmosphere is so welcoming.

The place was decorated in a very elegant way. Even the bathroom looked regal with a sitting room. However, the bathrooms were located on the lower level. There is an elevator but it will easily be crowded during events. The food was great. The problem we had was the banquet halls were a thin wall apart so the music/ sounds of the two events happening simultaneously kept clashing and it was hard to appreciate the music. Other than that, it is a good venue with ample parking and easy to find.

As a guest: The venue was beautiful. The actual reception hall was "magical". The track lighting, wrapped in chiffon, suspended from the ceiling, arranged around the chandeliers added a particularly elegant touch. There was another reception taking place but where we were supposed to go was clearly marked. I've been to other affairs and this was not the case. Everything was clean and decorated tastefully - not too gaudy. However, the restrooms were a bit out of the way. I'm not accustom to going in pairs, and I didn't but I was happy to see my niece come. If this venue were a castle then main floor could be compared to a great room with lots of flowers and glitz, (not cold and dank); conversely, the restrooms would be the dungeons, although, they were clean with multiple stalls - just a bit dim and therefore scary. Perhaps having better lighting and staffing it with a person to offer assistance/safety, may be an idea - if others have stated this issue. The servers were pleasant, but some seemed unenthused about being at work that evening. These were some of the younger crew who although did a fine job of serving the appetizers they just weren't smiling and had that hesitation in approaching tables - begrudgingly. The food was tasty and seasoned well, with ample portions to go around. However, I felt the awareness of the schedule for some of the servers because no sooner, in some cases had we been serve our soup - they were serving the salad and there was no place to put the salad except where the soup was sitting. So some of us were holding our soup in hand with our salad in front of us. I understand that some guest would talk away the night while servers, on the clock have lives other than serving meals.... I get it, they are working and we are "partying". Still, it was a tad rushed. We were served family style and while I appreciated the centerpiece being raised so we could see one another, the table was too small to accommodate the number of dishes. Timing was everything. We immediately started serving ourselves, so that we could eliminate a dish or two on the table. There was a self-serve fondue table, but the caquelon did not work properly. The chocolate was barely warm, however the pound cake was very good - dense and moist. The wedding cake was served with ice cream and I did find this presentation poor. Given the cake, (it was beautiful), which I know wasn't from the venue, serving it on a small dessert plate WITH a metal bowl with ice cream just brought the moment down. The metal bowl made it feel cafeteria style/industrial. I don't see that it would have been problematic to simply serve the ice cream directly on the cake or as they serve the cake ask if ice cream was desired - then serve the metal bowl - placing the two together was for form. The actual place/venue was really done well and presented exquisitely, however there were inconsistencies in the service that brought my rating down - although, I would give 3.5 stars rather than a set three.

My sister had her wedding here and it was so beautiful! I love every detail this venue has. The service during the reception was good. The outside was great for pictures. Food was good and very hot! 4 stars because they messed up the chairs. My sister asked for gold chairs and they gave her silver. Still looked very lovely but she was upset about that. Huge parking lot.

I've been here for 2 weddings and the venue is beautiful. The parking lot is huge and the venue itself is nice in all aspects. The high ceilings and marble walls give a really glamorous effect. The food was ok, pretty average for banquet food. The dance floor is a great size. Even the downstairs area of the venue is pretty.

Chateau is a beautiful venue. I had my reception here and was in the Columbia Room. The ceilings and chandeliers are grand. Spiral staircase to restrooms are really nice, there's elevator to accomadate those in wheelchair. Joyce, Osha, Venetia, all the banquet coordinaters, have been very helpful from the very beginning. Staff was friendly and dinner was served promptly. Received many compliments from my guests on how beautiful the venue is....and a few were not aware Chateau Del Mar even existed so thats why I'm writing review. Had a wonderful wedding here and highly recommend :)
