I have ate here 3 times in the last 2 weeks. I was not disappointed on any of these visits. Generous portions and excellent service and price. A hidden gem in the Best Western Plus in Hillside, IL. There is ample parking, even for large vehicles (buses, semis, etc.). Give it a try, you will definitely return again and again.

I can only speak for the breakfast buffet, which is a really good value for $6. The food is typical of what you would expect at a diner. There are eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, waffles, cereal, fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea, toast, and bagels daily. I also saw biscuits and gravy or pancakes depending on the day. The service is good. The staff came around often enough to clear plates and keep drinks filled. They also take special requests for things like hot tea instead of coffee. There was plenty of seating, and the place was clean. Overall, Charlie's is a good place for a fast, inexpensive, American breakfast.

Ate dinner at lounge as no sitting at restaurant due to Covid. Bar menu was typical: burgers, pizza, appetizers, etc. I had breakfast burger with fries. Good burger, cooked to requested doneness. Price for food and drinks quite reasonable. Lots of food. Bar tender very friendly and attentive. She took food orders, brought in food, and schlepped drinks. Breakfast available in morning only to-go. Full page of options that are reasonably priced or free if you stayed in motel. Again large portions and extremely tasty. The breakfast forced me to raise rating from 3 stars up to 4 stars.

The worst chicken caesar salad I have ever had. The chicken was literally PETRIFIED it was so old and stale and the lettuce was soggy and gross. There's no excuse for a salad this horrible in what is supposed to be a 3-star hotel's restaurant. Hotel food is generally pretty terrible, so I wasn't expecting much, but this was even worse than I thought it would be. Wendy's or McDonald's has a better salad for about one-third the money. It was hot in the bar (which was empty at lunch hour--never a good sign) but this salad wasn't just shit--it was ABSOLUTE shit--like the difference between Zero and ABSOLUTE ZERO if you are science-y. See the photos for how dried-out and petrified the chicken was--it was more like chicken jerky than chicken breast. Horrible--I would give negative 10 stars if I could. Don't and I mean DON'T EAT HERE!!!!!!!!!!! The barmaid was nice--but she didn't cook this disgracefully inedible bowl of slop. It tells me why they place was DESERTED at lunchtime. Lock your doors Charlie--you have NO business being in the food business. Even for hotel food this was godawful!!!!!!!
