Santa was exhausted and famished yesterday around 3:30. He used to pop in for a sammich when, years ago he paid pastoral visits to membets of his Downers Grove flock at Hinsdale Hospital. Yesterday, he needed to be sure he had his favorite hazelnut creamer for the next morning's java addiction...and a huge turkey sandwich was also in order. At check out, the checker in the other lane deftly reached over with HIS credit card and beat Santa to the swipe, sharing a loud: "Merry Christmas, Santa!" This is one of my favorite Shell stations in the area. Why? They have a very good deli. They will make a sandwich custom to your desires. Great customer service. Clean bathrooms. The place is always busy. But they also have some good, crispy, seasoned, fried chicken that they only serve Mon thru Fri from 10AM to 2PM. Whoever said to skip the fried chicken here is getting high on his own supply!

Whoa. This is not your ordinary gas station. The ladies in the deli were so sweet. They said, "Well. This is more like a deli with a gas station built around it." Right on. This is one high-end gas station. They have a milk shake bar. Fresh pastries. Custom-made sandwiches and fresh fruit. Hot meals like chicken with mashed potatoes. I just needed a massive ice-cold Diet Coke, which I received for a very reasonable $1.19 plus tax. But I would totally come here for lunch, too.

Yikes. I mean gas is gas but the gas here is always 5-10c higher than the BP across the street. I already didn't love the staff's nonchalance attitude during the worst of the pandemic. But we come here a lot for convenience to get candy, drinks, coffee etc. However I think will be putting a pause on that, last week there was a news article that someone left there keys in the car, ran inside to buy something and their car got stolen! Nothing feels safe anymore.

HINSDELI The deli here is fantastic. Great cheese and meat selection, fresh produce and a wide variety of breads are crafted by a friendly and fiery team into amazing and delicious sandwiches. There are great menu options such as Karen's combo, a corn beef/roast beef sandwich, and the Hot Gobbler, a turkey sandwich. The weekly specials are plentiful and tasty. But honestly, the ability to craft your own custom sandwich stands out above all other sandwich places in the area! Personally, my favorite sandwich is the Karen's combo, however, I ask for it the "Glenn way" which adds a spicy twist to it by adding a touch of horseradish and swapping in pepper jack cheese. All on marble rye, of course! Ms. Laura or Ms. Karen will send it through the oven, although you could have it pressed in the Panini maker if you like, and this amazing sandwich is good to go! Seriously, skip the fried chicken, skip the premade sandwiches, and take the five minutes to have a bite of heaven hand-crafted for you! You will not regret it. The convenient store has a food drink and snack selection too... I recommend the bbq 'Dirty' brand chips! Look past the fact that this is a gas station. This is a deli that is so successful that they added a gas station and convenient store. The food here is wonderfully delicious, customizable and very affordable.

This place has a great deli selection, especially fried chicken and the chicken salad sandwich. Also a plus that this Shell spot brews Intelligensia coffee. Overall, I found this place to be a good option to grab lunch, especially since it is walking distance from work. Very clean place with a friendly and helpful staff!

If there were ever something like, a Gas-n-Sip Elite Event....this should be the venue. This is a stellar gas station. It feels wrong referring to it as a "gas station" actually, as it houses a fine selection of wine, large walk-in beer cooler, huge and attractive deli, gourmet dog treats and...wait for it.....it's one of a few places I can still find cherry Life Savers (see my profile). Last but not least, the employees here are extremely friendly and helpful. It's always a pleasure doing business here. PS - Don't be tellin everyone about the cherry Life Savers! That's an insider tip between you and me :-)

Never thought of reviewing Shell before! Anyhow, I come here often. They have a stupendous awesome sauce deli department. One Employee, Laura is sooo nice. She is a hard worker and appears to acknowledge each person by name and know how they like their sandwiches. WOW, cant beat that! Highly recommend this place. For lunches, and quick grocery items. Groceries are a bit high, but then again it is a gas station. However; the deli sandwich prices are very reasonable. Oh, did you know they sell gas! See Laura, get to know her. She will always remember your favorite. Uncanny!
