Basic sports bar. It's located in Norridge not close to anything interesting. Newbe's actually is pretty good to be honest, much better than expected for sure. Has the basic drinks and food. There's also gaming. A few way to keep entertained. It has video poker and slots. There was one woman who never moved from the one slot machine the entire time. As for the rest of the stuff, it has pretty average drinks and food. It's about $6 for wells. Basic liquor selection. The food is mostly fried and greasy things. About $3 for fried appetizers. The rest of the menu is meaty stuff. Good stuff as far as entertainment. It has slots. There's not that much else interesting but it's a nice neighborhood hangout if you're around it though.

Down right neighborhood dive bar. Great atmosphere and prices. We went there to have a few drinks before dinner down the street. Bartenders poured great drinks and were very attentive. We will be back

Met here with a few friends , nice neighborhood bar which has your usual selection of drinks , gaming machines , pool table , ordered a hamburger which was very very good , glad we stopped in

"But I can't drink,I'm taking antibiotics," said my friend to the owner of Newbes. " I don't give a s___t!" was the owners response. This isn't exactly Gibsons,this dark tiny bar on the outskirts of Norridge where crowd wise it's feast or famine. We have been there when there was 7 people and when there was 70 but we were almost always there on a Friday to enjoy karaoke as presented by the very kind and cool Jeff Raskow, the reason I am giving this place even one star. About a year or so ago the owner prone to mood swings bought us a pitcher of beer as a thanks for our being regulars who never make trouble and are good guys. Tonight he banned us. My friend saw people partaking of snacks as a party was going on and he got himself a snack. As I have trouble getting around he got me a snack as well and got another for himself when the owner came up to him and tersely proclaimed that he was to eat no more food as that belonged to "their" party. As it turns out the party was the karaoke dj's family and he couldn't have cared less but no matter. My friend apologized and said he thought everyone in the bar was welcome to the snacks and the owner stalked away in frustration. Another friend and myself went up to sing karaoke leaving my snack loving friend alone at the table and in an act of cowardice, the owner confronted him ,got right in his face and chewed him out in front of patrons. "Do you know what my electric bill was this month? $1,000!" (Had I been there I might've mentioned mine was at an all time high too but I don't have the benefit of having a packed bar help me pay it). His rant continued. "You guys come in here every week,take up a table for two hours and all you do is order a pitcher of beer! Why don't you not come back here! You're not a child,you're a grown man. And you're drinking a Coke!" The idiocy of this, besides the fact that it actually made the owner look bad for berating a customer who is not causing any trouble, is that there is no drink minimum in this dank joyless place and since when must one go to a bar to get so full of liquor that they endanger themselves and others.My friend was driving. Does Newbes encourage this? They certainly don't encourage one to come to their non descript saloon and have a pitcher of beer and enjoy karaoke and camaraderie as a normal bar owner might. Especially desirable should be customers like us who don't break glasses or spill drinks or start fights or flip off the owner,all of which we have seen in the past month. We mind our own business and have some drinks but that won't pay the thousand dollar electric bill which apparently is our responsibility,the 3 of us. And remember,just 12 months or so ago we were lauded as being "good guys who don't cause trouble" by this same owner. Anyone who treats customers like this deserves none. If he had a problem he should be expressed it to my friend privately and quietly instead of berating him with volume in front of patrons after my other friend and I had left the table. We won't be back there and you should stay away as well. That section of Norridge has better,cleaner bars with classy ownership that values patrons and treats them with respect. We will miss DJ Jeff who was the only reason to go there anyway.He's a good man, but there are other places to karaoke on Friday and one is The Brunswick Zone where we will be most Fridays from now on. This building has been a tavern for as long as i can remember...this is the first time I have been pleasantly surprised at how well kept it is. Prices are good, it seems we may have been there on a pool night, but that just made the guy to girl ratio in our favor....nice people of various ages...stop by...i think you'll have good time. Oh and there are SLOTS.

Just brought my girlfriend and family here for her birthday on one of our stops for the night. Prices are decent and staff is awesome. Mixed drinks were made well and karaoke guy had a great selection. Took care of a first timer the same as the regulars... Big thumbs up!

Nice new owner! Place is clean with a sports theme and now the bar has a functioning kitchen! Live music is coming and I am really excited it's close enough to walk. Bartender Kathy has been super sweet too!
