This is the best burritos and tacos I have ever had in my LIFE. The burritos are so huge and filling and DELICIOUS! The service can be slow, but that's because a lot of people come here, which makes sense. The ambiance when I ordered was fine and the place was nice. The only con I have are the tacos. It's not the taste, but the size. Overall, get the burritos and if you want tacos, you will need a LOT.

Omg I can't believe I haven't seen this place soon. Their tacos were amazing. Of course the chips and salsa were amazing. And sadly, I can't remember all the other stuff I ordered I would recommend this place 100% very clean

El Chavis is pretty good. Nothing was bad but nothing blew my mind either. The enchiladas were especially good. In fact, they enchiladas alone made this a 4 star and not a 3 star review. Everything else was decent. Chavis Taco was good. Gorditas not so great. I think this place is trying to make too many things. The menu is massive. Maybe if they focused down to a few specialities and really made them awesome, they could take it to the next level. The place is clean and orderly with nice decoration and prices are reasonable.

Updating my review: we ordered takeout from here tonight since my spouse is craving tacos. We did a 3 taco dinner (all chorizos), 1 extra chorizo taco, 2 shrimp tacos, 1 fish taco, and 1 flank steak taco. I've learned to accept that not every taqueria can nail the traditional steak taco, and moving forward, I'd just stick with the fish and shrimp tacos from here because they smack. Their chips and salsa is also really good, it made us wish we had more of their fresh chips since there was way more sauce than chips. We both devoured our food, and it's so conveniently located right by our condo. Our food was still piping hot when we got home.

Service is terrible here from the lady that takes orders. She usually works night shifts. I came in one time with my buddy and she took our orders and never asked if we wanted any drinks. She also didn't give us any napkins or anything. We didn't get any chips and was also weird because most times we came and she wasn't there , the chips were free. About a week ago in a dine in I had , I was given chips and salsa for no charge. I told her that last time I came the chips and salsa were free. She then went on to say that they just changed this rule a couple of days ago.

The service is good the ambience is nice but the steak burrito is awful. I've been to this restaurant over the years in hopes that the food would get better. Needless to say, I was disappointed all but one time. I always get the steak burrito. If I go when they first open, which I did once, the burrito was great. If I go in let's say a few hours after they've opened, I noticed that they mix fresh steak meat with older meat which makes for an awful burrito. I've tested this theory out several different times. I consider this lazy and not thinking much of their customers. This was the final time today. I had to toss out my burrito because it was a mixture of fresh and older steak meat mixed. If you don't believe me try it out for yourself.

I love this place. The food is excellent, be sure to try their Carne en su jugo, which is my favorite. The restaurant itself is charming, the staff friendly, and the speed of service is excellent for a kitchen of this size. (usually one cook) Definitely the best in its immediate area. if you're between Cicero and Kedzie, 89th to 103rd, it's a must.

First off I'm a chef store manager at a restaurant being doing this for over 25 years the girl in there very very rude on her phone the whole time I ordered the taco dinner the bread was do hard I van barely bite it the steak was so brunt couldn't eat so I only ate the fries which was the only fresh so I get up to pay for my food she tried to charge me for a taco I took a bite out of we argued about 10 mins until I said I was calling the police there so instead of her giving me my change in my hand like I gave it to she throws it on the counter wow I advise people check your food before you eat
