This will be a fairly short review; I was in Chicago for the Frank Lloyd Wright Plus tour in Oak Park, so after finishing the tour I wanted to get a deep dish pizza before I headed out of town. Reviews of Lou Malnati's were good so I ordered a pizza to go using the website. Lou Malnati's Oak Park is located on the main drag of Lake Street near to Unity Temple; the restaurant is cool looking inside, very retro, dark and industrial. The takeout is located all the way in the back, by the parking lot, my pizza was ready and I got dried peppers and cheese along with a plate. On the way to my car I grabbed a seat at a bench nearby and enjoyed the pizza. I got a small the "Lou", a deep dish with spinach, mushrooms, garlic and tomato slices. The pie was delicious, the crust was good and the toppings and cheese were excellent. I ate about 1/4 of the pie before hitting the road and finished off the rest over the next couple days and actually enjoyed it even more since I liked the more well done version when I reheated the pizza. I really enjoyed the "Lou", an excellent version of a vegetarian deep dish pizza. a strong recommendation for Lou Malnati's.

A local friend took me here. The pizza was good, but I've had better deep dish. I was surprised that she thought this place was one of the best in town. Again, not bad, but I had higher expectations. I got the classic deep dish. They had a a decent selection of beer. Garlic bread and tomato sauce was pretty good. I give this place B-. Service and price was acceptable. They place it self is pretty big, cool décor and comfy booths. It def. has a franchise feel to it. Nothing disappointing about this place, but I prefer moms and pops spots. Worth the visit so you can judge for yourself.

Love the new happy hour specials. However, I've been to the happy hour (which ends too early by the way) and the last two times I've had a server who was training. Our beer sat on the bar for probably 15 minutes before we asked the bartender if we could have our beer. We were asked if we wanted butter crust and said yes, without being told there was a $1 up charge. When mentioned to the server upon receiving our bill, the server replied, Oh, well. Yikes. I understand that staff needs to be on the floor to gain experience, but train your servers. If that's the service I'm getting, and mentioning, bring the matter to the manager's attention and make an adjustment on the bill. You don't want to lose regular customers with poor service.

Thin crust margarita pizza is awesome. The cheese so gooey and the pesto on top is so good. Love this one - believe it's limited time only so go get yours. I did pick up and the service is always friendly and prompt. All staff are friendly. Ambiance is just classic pizza joint in Chicago with great pies and friendly staff.

The most amazing combo! Everyone needs to try this. We picked up from the Oak Park location, it's 50/50 at best when it comes to service but the food always hits the spot.

Visiting Lou's is a tradition for us when we attend a Blackhawks game in Chicago. However, we usually go to the Randolph street location. Oak Park was along our route this time so we decided to try here instead. We called ahead (over an hour) for our confirmed reservation so our pizza would be hot and ready when we arrived as we have done before. The restaurant appears clean and well decorated but this location is clearly understaffed. When we arrived, there was nobody at the hostess stand and when one of the wait staff came over to us we told her we had ordered ahead and were seated. Once seated, we waited were given menus and water and then waited 15 minutes before anyone returned. When our server arrived, he did not know we had ordered ahead. He did not take our drink order and went to check on our pre-order. After several minutes he came back and confirmed they had the order. He took our drink order and went to prepare it at the bar himself. We received our drinks but still waited almost 45 minutes for our pizza and when it arrived it was only warm. We were never asked if we needed more drinks or water. I asked for the bill right away as we had already been there an hour and had just received our pizza. The pizza was ok but not what we were used to. Our server was friendly and was trying. But I think he was over tasked. I would not return to this location again. Next time, we're going back to Randolph St.

Went to Chicago to try the pizza. Their pizza unimpressive and so was the service. On top of that, it was noisy and an uncomfortable environment. I probably will not be back.

Lou Malnati's makes some of the best pizza around. They still make service is great and the ambiance is nice as well.

the garlic bread was SOOOOO delicious. And the pizzas were good. we got the classic and the Lou. I will say service was just okay though. They were a little slow at getting to us, and when we asked for water refills, they just handed us a whole pitcher and told us to do it ourselves. other than that, it was pretty good!
