He ran a shoe repair business here and it also housed the post office, whose postmaster was a woman (unusual for the time). The house was many other things over the years, and eventually was moved to its current location in 2006 near the fire station, with a display installed inside and informative signs. Unusually for a museum, it's open 24 hours, because you can't go inside - you can however stand on steps or wooden frames outside, and walk around the house, peeking in windows and doors, reading signs posted inside the windows about its history; there's also a panel outside with history and some photos. The display is set up with costumed dummies (she is sorting mail; he is assisting a child to repair a small scooter; there's a row of shoes waiting to be repaired). It's rather charming, and the signs aim at the kiddies ("how many pairs of shoes do you own? People at the time might own only two, as they were made by hand..."), so bring them along.
