We were traveling from Colorado and needed somewhere to stay over night. We needed a hotel that was dog friendly and this hotel charged $50 for one night. So we were spent a total of $158 including the dog fee. As soon as we came into the lobby there was no air conditioning, only fans and dehumidifiers. So I asked the clerk at the desk what was the story? She said they shut off the air so they can work on the system. Warning #1!. Then I went into the ladies room and there were big signs that 2 out of three of the toilets were out of order as well as one out of the two sinks! Warning #2.! I was sort of freaking already feeling that we made a mistake by coming here. I have really bad allergies and some of the walls were sagging and I know that is a sign of mildew and mold. Dave had already called and joined the Hyatt Club. I just don't understand why the condition of the hotel wasn't disclosed? We got a room that was conveniently located on the first floor. It was very large with a bedroom area and a sitting area. I put the air on manually, because the thermostat was off the wall. I tried to make it as cool as possible, but the unit was too small to cover the entire room. There was only one bath towel, so we had to ask for some more. There wasn't a hair dryer either. I had to ask them to change out the feather bedding for synthetic and that wasn't a problem. The housekeeper was polite and efficient and told me that you have to ask in advance for regular bedding. So Dave brings his clock which shows the time, temperature and humidity. So all night I felt uncomfortable and sweaty bc the humidity in the room was 72%. The temperature never went under 73 degrees even if I lowered the air! The biggest plus was the breakfast, a little nicer than most hotels and served on regular plates. There were eggs, sausages, oatmeal, bagels and butter. The coffee was very good. So this is my tale of woe about the Hyatt in Topeka. Shame is they have a nice pool and grounds around them ate lovely with a path around the lake. Well at least Freckles had a pleasant stay lol!

Place is terrible! Only 1 elevator for 6 floors. Understaffed. Can't see the TV from the bed. Way overpriced. The only redeeming value is the bed was good. Supposed to be a 3 night stay, left after 1.

Worst hotel experience of my life. We were given a dirty room - opened the door to find trash all over it and bed clearly unmade. Hotel has 1 elevator working so it took 15 minutes to just get on/off. After a 10 hour drive that was not what I wanted to deal with. We had our room swapped out for another (which was clean but the shower head and tv both had issues and the bathroom door wouldn't shut all the way) that was next to a family with kids screaming and running the halls, as well as knocking on the doors of other guests. After dealing with this until 10pm, I called the front desk and was met with hostility by the attendant (Jay? Jae? I don't know how her name is spelled). She was rude and dismissive and I have never been spoken to by someone in customer service like that. She talked over me and kept repeating that "quiet time had just started." Okay? I don't care what time your "quiet time" starts - no one should be knocking on the door of a room that I paid for when all I'm trying to do is get rest after a ten hour drive before another ten hour drive the next day. A reasonable response would have been to acknowledge the situation and assure me that you would be doing something about it. Not talking over me and then saying "what is this phone call accomplishing." Are you kidding? I reached out to Maria Cisneros, the general manager, and after sending my confirmation number to her, I have heard crickets. This entire experience is insane and I have now reached out to Hyatt corporate because I'm sure they don't want their brand represented this way. As it is we will avoid Hyatt anything in the future because of this experience and the lack of acknowledgment or accountability from the hotel.

I have stayed at the Hyatts in TX a lot. This was my first time in KS. Strangely it always seems one of the elevators is down in TX and that was also the case here. The room is well laid out and spacious except next to window wall where the A/C leaves no space to walk. Air would not sufficiently cool. The last night I set it at 67 and it still did not reach a very cool temp in the room. I like it pretty cool at night to sleep so I did not sleep well. There also are not enough electrical outlets near the beds if you have multiple people that want to plug things in. The handle came off in my shower/tub the second day when I turned the water on but I was able to put it back on. The body soap was out the first morning and housekeeping never came so I was out my entire stay. I used the hand soap instead. They say they are supposed to come every other day to clean the room but I never had my room checked so trash and dishes piled up. Breakfast was the standard breakfasts I have had when I stay elsewhere and it is a very decent breakfast. However, it was always eggs, potatoes and ham or sausage links and by the 3rd day I didn't want it. They need to rotate options. I like that this location is tucked away so there is no foot traffic wondering around the hotel and should lead to less vehicle break-ins. Overall the hotel/room/breakfast are close to what I expect from my past stays with Hyatts. I was disappointed with the lack of good A/C and the lack of cleaning the room as well as the same breakfast all 3 days. This is also one of the few times I spent a lot of time in my room. As I tried to sit on the couch to watch football the end piece of the couch kept moving away and I got very frustrated with that. Overall this stay was below the standards I have come to expect after my many stays in TX but has potential to be up there.

There was no one at front desk when we arrived and we waited for a while. Our TV didn't work. In the morning, all the breakfast amenities were empty, there wasn't even water.

Absolutely do NOT stay here. They have bed bugs and refuse to acknowledge it. I awoke to multiple mornings with more and more bites on my body. After some concern I removed the sheets to find the tell tell black specs and marking on the mattress. After going to management we were rudely dismissed and told that there were no signs of bed bugs, and that it could potentially be fleas because of a long term guest who had a dog in the room next door. They were adamant that they would not refund us and since they the hotel was full there was nothing they could do. Ontop of all this when checking into the hotel the bathroom with disgusting with brown marks in the tub and old hair/dust/dirt ontop of the tub. I would give this hotel a zero star if possible. Horrible experience. Plenty of other hotels. Don't put your body through the pain and suffering.

This is my favorite hotel in my travels. It's quiet, safe, and clean. I had a minor issue during my last stay and the general manager, Maria, made things right. I love Hyatt hotels. They have the best breakfast of the hotels I ever stayed at.

Facilities and amenities are fine, but the manager and staff objected to my dogs despite my being assured by the website of a pet friendly policy. Manager and staff conducted surveillance on me and even intruded into my room after knocking but without my permission as I was in the shower. What good is it to stay in a well appointed hotel if you aren't wanted and asked to leave in advance of the initial check out date.

I've enjoyed my previous stats at this location. However, I was not impressed with how dirty my room was. The sheets, comforter and one of the pillows was very dirty and smelled awful. Wallpaper was torn and looked horrible in the halls. They never clean under the sofa's! Towels were still damp. Coffee cup wasn't clean. The front desk staff was somewhat distant. How disappointing as this was such a great hotel when it first opened! Corporate needs to review this location!!!!
