I visited Shopper's Kitchen with a group of coworkers after work around noon. We had received a few recommendations from others in the area and were excited to try a good soul food restaurant. I hate to say that I was disappointed. I was really looking forward to some good cooking. There was one waitress who was very kind and was great assisting us. she left after our food was delivered so we didn't get a chance to interact with her after that but the owner came out and helped us once the waitress left. She said they were short staffed and she just came in to help with the lunch rush. I got the catfish, mac and cheese, and greens. The catfish was perfectly seasoned, crisp and golden like I like it-no complaints there. The greens and mac and cheese though, left much to be desired. The mac and cheese was gummy and tasted boxed along with the greens that were not seasoned well. Amongst my coworkers, the meal that seemed to be the best was the protein bowl. It arrived smoking of heat, was full of flavor, neatly arranged, and flavorful. It seems like that may be the go to for future visits. I was excited about the desserts since this seemed to be a top selling point but was disappointed when we found out that they weren't serving the majority of the items on the menu. They did have sweet potato cupcakes which were amazing.

I ordered my food thru DoorDash and was given a time to pick it up. I was on break when it said my food was finished however when I went to pick up my food they had not started cooking it yet, so I had to leave and come back on my next break which sucked. Then when I came back to get my food I must say I was truly disappointed, I ordered a chicken dinner and my chicken was salty and peppery. The Mac and cheese and green beans did not taste home made but from a can. I was hoping for real soul food but instead it hurt my soul.

Let me give you the bullet points of this new restaurant: Great customer service Homemade desserts Best seller - protein bowls. They essentially do healthy here. Various desserts that range from $2 - $5 Can ask them to make desserts for you. They cater. They do taxes here. Other businesses here as well which includes cleaning services. The protein bowl is something you can eat daily. This is a food item made from the Auntie that cares about your health. This isn't heavily spiced and it let's the ingredients make the meal. They are not skimpy on any portions including the protein. The cheesecake is extra smooth. You can tell it is not store bought. The same can be said for the chocolate version I ate. My frugal meter showed up when I was told $5 a slice, but homemade goods always make me spend a little more. All in all, you should stop here and see what you like.

I tried Shoppers Kitchen via the drive thru when they were located on Huntoon near Gage to try their catfish. It was fried hard the way i like it. Today i was in the mood for breakfast and called to make sure they were open. When i walked inside the young hostess greeted me by my name which was an unexpected but pleasant surprise. I'm glad I remembered that they have a new location. I popped in to order the breakfast and was glad to see i hadn't arrived too late! Breakfast is served from 9am until 11am on Saturday. I arrived at 10:50am. The pancakes with sausage patties and fluffy scrambled eggs were wonderful. Cooked just right and looked lovely on the plate. Yes, it all tasted great!!!

I was really hungry and wanted to get something to eat in the area and I was immediately reminded of this place that I visited close to over a year ago. Be mindful that my last visit was during the pandemic, so my excitement to see it now was very high. They had such an awesome salad the last time that I visited that I said "it's been way too long since I've been there so I will go in and see what I'll get this time." The first thing that I noticed when I pulled up is that they have their drive-through window operating fully now, which during my first visit they had the window but it wasn't operating at that time. But I decided to go in because I really wanted to see the different types of cheesecakes because I had decided since I wasn't able to get cheesecake the last time that I was definitely going to get it this time. I walked in and my eyes were so amazed at how they had really fixed up the place. The tax area had been taken out and nice little quaint tables with decorations were inside. These gave it a very quaint and elegant look. The menu was now posted up for you to see. They had way more options on their menu than they did the last time. I stood looking at all the different options and at first I was a little afraid that I wasn't going to get any cheesecake because I looked in the container in the front of the store where they usually kept the desserts and I didn't see any. When the owner came out and saw me to my utter surprise, she remembered me and she said she always wondered how I was doing. I couldn't believe she remembered who I was. She didn't know my name but she remembered me when I came and that I worked with kids and she began sharing with me all of the changes that they had made. She explained how their menu was revamped and how she now does private parties and catering as well. She spoke of how recently a mother's brunch she hosted with mothers of a church group. She says her restaurant is a venue that you can rent out for private parties. I told her I was majorly impressed with everything that she had going on and the guy who worked for her who took my order looked so young that I was really questioning whether he was old enough to work there but he not only informed me that he was old enough, but that he was happily married and had two children. He was wearing a culinary jacket which let me know that he had been attending a culinary school. To have been a customer who saw the beginning of a business and come back to not only see them still going strong, but growing and flourishing, does my heart good. I'm glad that not only was I apart of its beginning, but that my presence lingered in the owner's mind and she came to cherish my patronage. I recommend checking her place out... and by the way I had a pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac & cheese with a sweet tea and to top it off a nice slice of cheesecake. "Hoodoggie"it was awesome. The pork was tender, the Mac and cheese was delicious and omg that cheesecake was off the chain!!!!
