Our first visit to Bandido Taqueria Mexicana was awesome. Although we've driven by it countless times, on a recent Friday we were looking for Mexican, but wanted to try something new. Bandido did us well! Located on Shelbyville Road in St. Matthews, it's kind of unassuming in that there aren't flashing lights or neon. Just a simple sign on the roadside. When we first pulled in the parking lot we weren't even sure if they had seating, but luckily they did. Bandido isn't a full-service eatery, but an "order at the counter and we'll call your name when it's ready" kind of place. The menu is extensive and features a number of signature burritos, almost all of which I wouldn't mind trying on my next visit. I'm particularly interested in the Chile Relleno Burrito, but they all look amazing. BUT...Jim is a sucker for Street Tacos so, yea... I had street tacos -- Chicken, to be exact. When ordering street tacos all three have to be the same kind; no mix-and-match, and I'm OK with that. We ordered a basked of chips and salsa also (yes, there's an upcharge). There's also a salsa bar with several kinds of salsa for your meal enhancement. OH...and most importantly...they have Glass Bottle Coke®. In order to truly appreciate Street Tacos you have to have glass bottle Coke®. This is the way. Our food delivery was about ten minutes and everything came out grand. Our food was hot, the chips and salsa were tasty, and my street tacos were a-maze-ing. I opted to make mine a combo, adding riced and refried beans. Refried beans in Mexican eateries can vary from seriously average to amazing so you're never sure what to expect. Bandido's refried beans were out-freaking-standing. I'm not sure what kind of magic goes into them, but they are most awesome. The decor is, in keeping with the Mexican theme, bright and colorful, with yellow being the primary color. It's not overly decorate wall-to-wall television screens. During our visit I saw a good number of people come in for takeout, so I'm guessing they do a pretty good takeout visit. I'm glad we finally tried Bandido. We generally have a monthlong rotation of Friday dinner spots and I think Bandido has now been added to that list.

Street tacos style, Rolled Tacos aka fried, Burritos, Bowls, Elotes and most importantly all day long breakfast burritos. Drinks and other menu items. Deals on Tuesdays for drinks and for tacos it is 1.99. This location has its own parking, drive through and always a very friendly service staff. You can't wrong. Oh the music is always playing, and the salsa bar is always flowing.

Bandido's is a go-to taco place for me. It's close, has good food, and all at a good price. I got tacos this time, 3 different kinds: fish taco, carne asada taco, Maui wowie. The tacos were great. They were filling and tasted good. They're not the best tacos in the world, but they are very good and I had no complaints. However, the fish taco does get soggy due to the salsa and sauce, so I would eat that first. The environment is great too. You order at a kiosk and the workers are all very nice. The space feels a little open and tight, but does the job for dining in, and they have a drive-through for if you want to take your Bandido's to a different environment. Bandido's isn't going to be the absolute best place in the world for tacos and Hispanic food, but it sure is great and hits all the boxes that I'm looking for. It's got quality and quantity at a great price and its accessibility with its drive-through makes it a go-to for me!

This is a solid place and I would give it four stars, it's just that it had a funky, unpleasant smell when you come in, and it's not a relaxing atmosphere. The music is a bit loud and it's not somewhere you want to go and have a nice meal with someone. It gets the job done. We liked our burritos, but we would have liked them better if the tortilla was steamed like they do at chipotle or QDoba. We liked the burritos just fine, but we probably won't be back. It was good, not great, and for me to want to come back, it needs to be great.

Easily the best burrito I have EVER had and so filling! The service was so friendly and personable and I can't wait to go back. There is a bit of a wait for food but it is totally worth it for how amazing their burritos are. I recommend the surf and turf burrito!

I had three street tacos with rice and beans and a drink. Food was decent but overpriced. This place serves soft drinks out of bottles and cans which is a negative in my book. Also, they do not recycle.

I ordered several things for my family, and when it arrived, it was missing an entree and an appetizer. Disappointing but I'm used to DoorDash deliveries being risky. So I called the store and it took 5 or 6 tries. Nobody answered and their voicemail box was not working. Finally I got a person and they said they were out of those items. Their attitude was like "oh well." They said they were out of the items. When I asked why they didn't let me know, they said they were too busy. Too busy? They said they didn't charge me but what actually seems to be happening is they charged me for the full amount and then refunding me in so-many days for the missing items. Finally, I checked my email and saw they notified me that way that they were out of the items, and that I was being refunded "based on my substitution preferences." I never made any substitution preferences. I'm not ordering from them again. Can't call me? Can't not charge me for items I didn't get, only to be refunded someday? Terrible.

Bandido just opened on Shelbyville road in St. Matthews, next to Ace Hardware & 5 Guys. They have a drive through that looked to be moving very slowly. We went inside to order so we could scope out everything. They do not have a liquor license yet, so only offering soft drinks for now - some Mexican favorites in bottles as well as a drink fountain, self-serve. They have margarita machines all setup for when they get their license to sell. We both got the burrito in a bowl. It was good and filling. Next time, I'll have them hold out the rice. It's not fancy inside - fast food style table & chairs. Festive Mexican music playing. Some outside picnic tables along the edge of the parking lot. Plenty of parking. Nice staff. Will try it again.

This is the newest Bandido that just opened on Shelbyville Road back in the spring. My friend and I decided to try here because we have been to the Westport Road location (formerly Liberty Street) and UofL Campus. We visited on a Sunday afternoon when it wasn't too busy. Parking lot in the front is quite small so if you plan on dining in, you may want to visit during not busy hours. There is also a drive-thru available as well. We opted to dine in here and I'd say it's quite small on the inside about the same as UofL Campus location. Westport road is actually bigger. We were greeted with prompt friendly service. We both got California Burritos which happens to be our fave except my friend didn't want fries in the burrito. We also got chips and queso with drinks. The food was delicious as always. Didn't quite finish my burrito of course because it's huge, took it to go. This is a nice location. It is small but it definitely delivered. Will be back.

Came here to try some tacos. The inside was nothing nice, which we didn't expect, but the tables were all either taken or dirty. We didn't love that we couldn't mix and match the tacos in the meal so ended up just getting chicken tacos and birra tacos. Personally I thought the chicken tacos were better than the birra but did not think it was anything amazing or something we'd come back for.
