The GAC is a gem in Louisville. I don't come out here nearly enough, but the vibes are always immaculate. And Oktoberfest is a great reason to come out. The lines look long at first, but they move very quickly. $6 for a bier can feel steep, but you get 16 Oz and at least 5.6% ABV for most of them. The food is good, not great, but it's German food in Louisville which is surprisingly hard to find. The music enhances the atmosphere. And this is very kid-friendly too. Just be patient with the lines and be diligent when looking for a seat. Cheers!

I absolutely love German American Club Oktoberfest! This event is so much fun! The German-American Club is an assemblage of German culture. Not only will you experience an array of German beer offerings, but you can also grab some delicious eats in the form of pretzels, schnitzel, spaetzle, bratwurst, and so much more! The event also boasts German music, dancing, and attire, as well as other German activities. The main dance hall is decorated with German flags and other items, including photographs, so there's a lot to see! If you're looking for something really fun to do in the Louisville area, the German American Club Oktoberfest event is one of my favorites!

Overpriced, terrible food, terrible customer service, very little activities, we didn't even stay more than 30 mins. Entrance fee was fair $5 each person, but it cost us $20 to get enough tickets for 2 mediocre bratwurst, and 2 water bottles. The volunteer that sold us the tickets was extremely rude and wouldn't even answer our question until we purchased the tickets. There weren't many activities going on and it was too boring to wait around until a performance. The event is mostly outside, with nothing to do but stand around and drink beer. Inside the German American club, you can find some clothes for sale, books, and miscellaneous items. Overall a waste of time, and definitely waste of money.

All of the negative parts mentioned in my review from last year -- fixed! This year's Oktoberfest was our favorite yet! While last year we found ourselves standing in line after line, this year we never had to wait for more than a few minutes. The main entrance to the fest was moved around to the side, reducing the bottleneck. And some of the vendor spaces were removed for a new, expanded beer counter area. While I missed the vendors, let's get real and realize why so many people come to Oktoberfest -- the beer! The whole event had a much more relaxed feel to it this year, while still being packed. The weekend had perfect weather. We also got a kick out of the band playing Rammstein. Looks like they were going for a plethora of German music, not just polka. Oktoberfest is such a fun event. I'm happy to see it back to its full glory.

This was a blast! Super crowded so parking was a little tricky. But the ticket, food, & beer lines moved along quickly. All of the volunteers/workers were super friendly and helpful. I loved seeing everyone all dressed up and really getting into the German atmosphere. Tons of German beers were available on tap. Lots of seating, live music, even a kids area. Can't believe I've lived in Louisville all this time & had never been here before. Will definitely make this a yearly thing!

I'm not sure how Oktoberfest has not yet been reviewed, but it warrants a shout out! I visited recently with friends to check the place out. My first impression was that this was one popular event! I had to park a couple blocks away, but it was just a short walk to the German American club where Oktoberfest was held. Admission was $5 (cash only), which is also "dues" through the end of the year for upcoming events. Once inside, we bought tickets of 1 ticket to $1, which we could use for snacks and drinks. A meal could be purchased with cash or credit card. The Biergarten is really the best part of the event. There are innumerable tables set up outside as well as live music playing, to promote a festive atmosphere. This felt like the ultimate neighborhood watering hole on a mild late summer evening! After grabbing some food, we sat down to enjoy it, and ended up lingering for a good 3+ hours. It was a relaxed, inviting, and fun spot to spend a Saturday evening at, and one that you won't regret checking out!

It's always a blast coming to the GAC. Oktoberfest was amazing too! $5 to get in. A beer was about $6. A pitcher of Miller was $12. A pitcher of premium beers (Paulaner, etc) was $18. They ran out of Miller, which isn't a huge surprise. The beer was flowing! Lots of beer choices. Lots of size choices (up to a pitcher). Lots of booths. You could buy steins from vendors or food from different areas. The bathroom situation was a little rough. Lines could be long. The port-o-potties helped. The music was amazing. The live music killed! And lots of GAC members in full dress! Always entertaining! Lots of dancing and chanting and merriment! No complaints- can't wait to come back!

Our family has been attending the GAC Oktoberfest for many years. We looked forward to this event every year. We attended Friday afternoon/evening. Unfortunately, it has gotten so popular, it's just not as enjoyable as it was in the past. The sheer volume of people trying to park and get through the gate has become downright dangerous. In fact I pity the poor people that live in the neighborhood. Just the location of the GAC makes it incapable of handling these huge crowd sizes. They should consider holding Oktoberfest at a larger and more accessible venue. Additionally I didn't see anybody connected to GAC directing traffic nor helping patrons with finding parking in an organized manner Yes there are a few paper signs, but they quickly become hidden by parked cars and people walking to the club. As the crowd swells into the evening the whole situation devolves into a free-for-all! Has anyone thought what would happen if an ambulance or fire truck needed to respond to an emergency at the GAC or nearby homes??? It would be impossible to access the area quickly. There are a few close in parking spots for elderly or handicapped patrons, but they fill up within minutes of the opening. After that you are relegated to parking very far away. Trying to drop off or pick up an elderly person is almost impossible due to the volume of traffic and cars parked along the side of the street. While we love everything about the Oktoberfest, we will no longer be attending. It's just not worth the hassle.

Wonderful food, but affordable. Delicious German beer following the Purity Law. Lots of fun people. Bierhalls and Bierfests every two weeks. Big outdoor festivals. Check their calendar. Become a member too!
