An interesting free self guided tour to watch artisans in glass making ornaments and paperweights. A roving attendant is available to ask questions. Learning the basics to melting the raw glass, loading a rod, shaping, coloring and the use of alternating heating, rolling, cooling, etc was enjoyable. An excellent gift shop with a broad range of low to high end pieces is the centerpiece. There is also a commercial hands on area available as well as a paid tour to participate with glass workers.

I love this place. Anyone can watch the artists blowing on the tour but the gift shop is free to visit. One day I'm going to be able to afford several pieces to display proudly in my home. It's a must see if you can drag yourself away from all the bourbon bars on Main Street!

Very cool and original works of art. This is not only a gallery but its also a studio for these who want to learn how to blow glass. There are numerous artists that sell there creations so go by and buy something. Forgot to mention the also have a hands on area for children to make things out of glass beads.

Glassworks is awesome. 3 glass studios, a gallery, gift store, classroom, event space rental, tours, boutique hotel and residential lofts all under one roof! We took a tour and watched as Mark Payton of Payton Flameworks created a beautiful vase, then to Hyland Glass where we watched glass blowing techniques and finally to Architectural Glass Art, where the models of some projects for hotels and hospitals was breathtaking. You can even take classes! Everything from a basic $25 class demonstrating how to make stained glass, all the way up to an intensive $450 class teaching you how to blow glass for yourself. A wonderful, uplifting experience if you are into art and design. Highly recommended!

My wife and I were visiting Louisville for the weekend and we received a lot of recommendations to visit the glassworks. We didn't know much about it but saw that they offered guided tours at 1 and 3pm. We showed up a few minutes past 1 and they were gracious enough to allow us to join the tour a bit late. It was $7.75 per person and lasted about 45 minutes. We were able to see a few different methods of glassmaking/glassblowing up close. It was really interesting and enjoyable. Halfway through the tour we realized that they offered, FREE, self-guided tours that gave you access to the same areas of the building. I highly recommend the self-guided tour. You see the same things, just don't have the guide.

My husband and I did a walk-in workshop here for my 40th birthday. It was a really easy process. I picked out a project (a 3-section tray) and an instructor showed us how to cut the glass. They had so many shards to work with, though, that we didn't cut a whole bunch. There are also confetti-like pieces of glass and even smaller pieces, like glitter, that you can use to add some pizazz. We live in Indianapolis so the shipping cost was $15. It took about 3 weeks to arrive, as anticipated. The tray was well and securely wrapped. I'd definitely go back!

I live in Glassworks, and here is my top 10 list of what I love about it! 10) Jazz Bar in the basement, with great music ! 9) Great views of downtown from my apartment 8) People always say "Wow, I did not know that people live at Glassworks" 7) Frequent weddings and proms in the building 6) Convenient to downtown 5) Friendly security guards 24/7 4) Being able to watch glassblowing at all times of the day and night 3) Great neighbors 2) Rooftop availability whenever I want it 1) Rooftops concerts during warm weather!

If you are looking for a place to host a large event or reception, Glassworks is by far the coolest venue in which to host it. I have been to many receptions and events there (including my own wedding reception), and it never fails to impress me with it's beautiful space and decor. There are two reception rooms to choose from and they both exude sophistication, elegance, and style. The first floor room is designed for smaller receptions, but has the added bonus of the Glassworks gallery as part of the backdrop. The second floor is for larger parties and includes a checkered dance floor to get your boogie on, a large window overlooking the glassblowing studio (you can book demonstrations during your event for a little extra moolah), and a beautiful built-in glass bar--the most popular spot at my reception by far! Not only are the reception rooms unique and very visually appealing, but the service is impeccable. Their event coordinators will go above and beyond to ensure that everything is perfect for the big event. They leave no stone unturned and cater to your every need to the best of their ability. If you are looking for an event space that will impress your guests and set the scene for a fabulous swarray, take my advice and stop your search at Glassworks.

Really loved the space. I was here for a reception and the space was great for about 200 people. They also had a great view in the city. The wedding had their own caterer as well as Bar supply so I assume it's a okay with outside sources. There is also a nice back drop for a great photo on the side of the wall.
