Year after year, St. James continues to be a Louisville institution that lives up to the hype! We attended most recently with the entire fam, and despite the big crowds, it was a great event to bring them to. After 15-20 minutes of driving around, we found free street parking on a side street. And we found several booths to look in. Our son even found one booth with art that caught his eye, and we ended up buying two prints that we plan to frame and hang. Along with the art, I love all of the community groups that have booths and local food options. And when our kids wanted to run a bit -- up to that point they had been taking eveything in from a cart -- we went to the playground behind the Old Louisville Visitors Centers. Wiggles managed! Having Central Park nearby also offers such a beautiful spot to relax. I stand by my tips in my previous review, and wanted to write an update to commend this large event on being consistently great year after year. We will definitely be back!

I went both days! I wasn't able to go last year due to a broken leg, so it was nice to get to come back and do an old tradition. Walked around for a total on both days of about 8 1/2 hours and then had food while we were there. The food trucks were amazing! And we had a great time trying different cuisines. There was so much beautiful art to be had and so many amazing people to meet. It just felt like such a cool place to get to see what other people get to do with their lives and be happy! We even found out about some discounted tickets for ghost tours around Saint James Court and the field of screams. We had a great time.! Made some new friends with the artists and got some really cool art! I will definitely be back next year !

I attempted the show two days running. Yesterday I could find no parking, payed or otherwise. Most payed lots were "FULL". I went earlier today and payed $20 to park fairly near the action. My back hampers me, so I needed to be close. I walked 10,000 steps in an hour and saw most booths from a distance. I didn't intend to purchase, just wanted to get a boost to my creativity. I am an artist and did this show for many years. It was early. I saw few packages, fewer sales. I hope for the artists' sake that people came back to purchase. There was a lot of variety and a plethora of good high quality work. If you are looking for unique and original art that reflects your personality, this high quality, nationally ranked show is a fantastic starting point for your collection. Art for the walls, functional art and hand crafted jewelry can all be found here in abundance. Annually, the first weekend in October (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) is when. St. James Court and immediate surroundings in Old Louisville (very picturesque) is the place. Most artists take cards, but take cash too. Plenty to eat and drink at specific points in the show. Go early to find parking.

I've not missed an art show in over a decade. Any time I have, the fall didn't start off quite right. My favorite day to visit is Friday and I prefer to get there at the start of the morning. We need minimum 4 hours, maybe 6 to move slower to visit all the areas. Parking can be tricky; however, there's several options to support community schools and churches to pay by car. The fountain area is a favorite picture spot, but my favorite areas are the smaller streets. Several of the repeat artists have become my favorite and where I purchase reproductions of their original artwork. I also find my favorite noodles mixed with veggies and soy sauce, close to shared picnic tables. Visitor tips: wear comfy clothes and shoes, bring an easy to hold bag to stuff your purchases, stash water bottles to start your day - it can be tough to find it later at the show and expensive, wear sunscreen, get a babysitter when you can, take breaks to rest your feet and stretch your back, and bring your out of town friends. Thank you to the volunteers that keep this show running smoothly! I hope every artist has a great experience in Louisville.

Local FREE annual art festival held the first full weekend of October and WOW! We lucked out with the weather this year (2024) after being hit hard with storms the week prior. So many amazing booths to meander and it's well worth a trip around the area and circle back to have a second look. Be forewarned -- don't expect to waffle too long on whether to get a must-have piece if you have your heart set on it. I still kick myself over a few items I missed out on over the years because I hemmed and hawed. Jewelry, metalwork, pottery, art prints, garden art, clothing items, etc, can definitely make your head spin and you WILL see so many items that you just have to have. Refreshments are available -- food and adult beverages make it next level when you're shopping to feather your nest and adorn yourself with unique items. Parking is atrocious and carpooling is a wise idea and be sure to make note of where you parked your car! It is also possible to park near downtown at the Brown Hotel for $15 and take the every 15-minute dedicated shuttle to and from the show and minimize the hassle.

Busy but fun as always. I think Belgravia Court has become way too crowded. I wonder if there's a reason they don't close down 6th st and use it for booths and leave the walking courts as spots for picnic tables. I'm sure these discussions are held among the planners but it would make the experience a lot better rather than being herded down the walking court!

We drove 2 miles up Sixth Street past beautiful old homes and found street parking before getting to the Art Show. The Victorian brick homes in the backdrop were huge & spectacular with beautiful gardens. Lots of local craftsmen presenting: paintings, glass work, jewelry, clothing, toys, silks, tiles, leather, fragrances, furniture, pens, housewares, wood & metal works .... Most of the vendors are local. It was a beautiful park with lots of beautiful things to look at. Food & cocktails were for sale also. There were 650 craftsmen displaying original pieces of art.

This is a wonderful art show in a gorgeous setting! Be prepared to park and walk. The exhibits are also spread out over a number of streets. Enjoy the architecture and landscaping of the homes as you shop. There are plenty of food vendors available. Although many artists are local, there are plenty from around Kentucky, Indiana, and many other states. You won't want to miss this!

One of the quintessential, iconic experiences in Louisville, and annually one of the highest rated art shows in the entire United States. If you love art and creativity, magnificent architecture, and typically great fall weather, this is a must. The art show is set in one of the nation's largest enclaves of Victorian homes and is spread over multiple blocks and streets. Nearly 700 artists are on hand showing their wares, ranging from uber expensive paintings, glass and sculptures, to more affordable ceramics, clothing, wood work, and just about anything else you can imagine. And you won't go hungry or thirsty with loads of food and beverage vendors. Do realize you will likely do a lot of walking since there is limited parking in and around the Old Louisville neighborhood where the art show resides. In addition to having to typically park several blocks away from the show, you will be getting lots of steps in as you walk around to see the multitude of booths. If you don't want to look for parking around the art show area, there are shuttles that run from downtown Louisville where you can park and then bus in. Be sure to do an online search for those options. St. James is a great excuse to come to Louisville for a visit, whether you are a frequent art show attendee or you are just looking for a wonderful outdoor fall experience.

We had a good time at the St James Art Fair this weekend. Its a really nice place that has many art venders all from around the area and other states. It was super crowded and hot. So this being said my young daughters did not want to be there so we did not get to stay as long as my wife had wanted. But we will had a good time and will be back.
