This is one of those rare restaurants that does everything perfectly. The service, food and ambiance were excellent. We went for brunch, and the egg and cheese biscuit blew me away. The tuna melt was wonderful as well.

I really enjoyed my experience at Agi’s Counter. The service was friendly and the food was amazing!

We started with the chicken liver toast. So delicious, the mousse was so light but flavorful and the toast complimented it so well. Definitely recommend.

We had the pressed chicken and schmaltz potatoes for our main. The chicken was insane. They balanced the acidity and sharpness of the vinegar/peppers with their savory chicken. Really delicious. Same with the potatoes. Cooked to perfection and served with a lovely aioli.

We ended with the cheesecake which was so delicious. Light and fluffy, but rich with great mouthfeel.

Will be back again

I went to Agi’s on a rainy Friday afternoon, around 3:30 which is when the kitchen begins to close for their evening service.
Because of this, the restaurant was almost empty besides two others at the counter.
The atmosphere was so cozy, the music was great and while I usually don’t like being seating at a high top, I found everything so quaint and comfy.

I had the:

Dirty ovaltine- ok, quite possibly one of my all time fave warm bevis?? Insane and the most perfect thing to have on a cold rainy day

Rye Choc chip cookie- the rye flavor really comes through, which is great news if you’re someone who loves rye. I’m not, but still enjoyed the cookie- especially dunked in the dirty ovaltine. Despite not loving the rye, I would get it again because it was a perfect texture, and the salt and chocolate were so good it had the rye growing on me by the last bite.

Tuna melt- a top 3 tuna melt for me. The bread is so buttery, and the pickles??? I hate pickles, but will try them every time they’re served to me hoping these will be the pickles that change me. It never is, until now. THESE pickles. My only complaint is that I wish it came with some fries or some kinda side bite. But the cabbage slaw and everything was 10/10.

Also, the bathroom is incredible??? The candle burning was amazing, pads, flossers and mints were available on a fancy bar cart- okay luxe.

I’ve been putting off trying this place because I heard it can get really busy, so I’m glad my first time was at this off-peak time to be able to take in the atmosphere and do some reading. Excited to come back with a friend and eat my way through the rest of the menu!

The portion sizes are quite small. Although it's brunch, it still seems a bit insufficient for one person. The food is not exceptionally good—some dishes are very salty—but overall, it's average. Additionally, there's a 5% service charge for the kitchen staff at Living Wage, which I find a bit puzzling. If the kitchen staff's wages are low, it should be the owner's responsibility to cover that, not the consumers.

The first time we came the food was amazing (the tuna melt is UNREAL) but the server was like really unfriendly. I’m so happy that we came back because it was amazing the second time and the server was so kind and hospitable, everything we wanted was available (brunch items sell out early!) and everything was so delicious. We are looking forward to coming back for dinner.
