Four of us went to this restaurant for dinner on a Saturday night. Our reservation was early (5:30) and by the time we left, about two hours later, the place was packed.

The service and pacing were great. Our waiter took their time, answered questions, offered up some nice historic tidbits (the interior is a landmark) and stopped by regularly to make sure we had everything we wanted and were content. Which we were.

You can read many reviews about all the food and so will limit mine to two items:
The Parker House rolls: GET THEM
The Beef Wellington: GET IT (if they have it on the night you go. It was pricey but so worth it. We split it four ways and added one other entree to share. Plus two sides of the creamed spinach (every last bite was gone) and the mushrooms (ditto). We also had the she crab soup (delicious). For dessert, I had a couple of ice cream scoops since they are made in house. Very good (the mint especially) but the scoops are quite large!

It’s a splurge and enjoyable. I’d go back.

The cinnamon roll we enjoyed today was exceptional: Tender dough, plenty of cinnamon filling and amazing buttercream on top.
The biscuits and gravy were very good as was the fried chicken. (We’re really nailing our ‘healthier eating in 2025’ resolution, aren’t we?!)

Absolutely stellar. The NY Strip steak I got here was one of the best pieces of meats I’ve ever had and and served with plenty of baked garlic and a potato side reminiscent of a gratin dauphinois (I’m French yes). This is completed by the coolest and most extensive dry martini menu I’ve ever seen, with variants I didn’t even know. They offer a happy hour on those and oysters. And to finish, add a historic background making you feel like you’re in a Scorsese movie or Mad Men, in this lovely area of Downtown Brooklyn. One for the books.

the food was delicious, but something was missing. drinks took way too long to come out, having ordered 2 drinks and them taking 20+ mins to come out, for a quiet sunday lunch isn’t ideal. we then ordered a bottle a wine but even with empty glasses it wasn’t getting topped up. service was just a bit too slow. couldn’t fault the food but overall the services made it drop a mark.

I've heard a lot of people recommend their fried chicken and had to try it. Unfortunately it was good but not worth the price or effort to visit.

The chicken is fried with some gritty mix so it comes out crunchy but the real problem was the chicken was just too dry. Considering I was served dark meat, this was a bad sign.

I also had the Caesars salad, which was good but not special. Instead of crotons they have a flat cracker that can be broken up. It looks good for the photos but doesn't taste great.

The one dish I liked was the she-crab soup. Rich, creamy and with nice chunks of crab, this is a winner.

Overall while it wasn't bad, it wasn't good enough to revisit.
