WARNING: DO NOT RENT from this location. Update: Branch Manager Matthew T. Reaves has placed me on the "Do Not Rent" because I disputed this predatory charge for a one day rental. One of the most disgusting National Car Rental locations in the county. I travel for work weekly throughout the US, and I'm a loyal National customer. I've rented from many locations, and this is in the top 5 for WORST experiences. I reserved a one day rental, standard car rental. When I arrived, I was put in a compact SUV. Once I drove off with the vehicle, I noticed that my hands had soot on them. I pulled over and wiped the steering wheel down with a wipe (my own wipe because this location doesn't even offer Clorox wipes like other locations), wipe was covered in soot from the steering wheel and gear shift. Additionally, the check engine light came on. Frustrated, I turned back to exchange the vehicle. The return agent gave me a hard time about switching into a similar class vehicle. As I waited for them to get me a vehicle, I saw them put the vehicle I kust returned back on the floor for rental. Finally, I was given another compact SUV. When I looked at the bill, they charged me $273.01 for an "Intermediate Electric 4 door."" ELECTRIC?! This location could barely handle keeping clean cars on the floor. There wasn't a single electric vehicle in sight, and they had the nerve to charge me for a higher class car and put me in junk. Obviously, I've opened a dispute. Rent from another rental company when flying into BTR. You'll save yourself unnecessary hassle.

As an executive elite customer who rented about 250 days last year almost exclusively at the Baton Rouge airport. I can say that the management team at the location is awful. Starting with the area manager, Brady. The customer service is so bad that there have been employees to recommend that I contact upper management because of the lack of customer care being offered. I believe that his boss is Dulca Martinez. Unfortunately, 4 to 5 calls (w/messages) over a period of two months, obviously didn't warrant a return phone call, because I never received one. The current manager(I believe his name is Matt), is obviously taking his verbal cues from his manager Brady because his customer service is just as awful. For example, the area manager Brady asked me to call him if I had any questions or concerns. I called him from the location about a $500 overcharge and he never called back. It took almost a month to receive my money back And I had to elicit the help of another area manager to get involved. Another example is that I was at the site and I needed him to assist me in exchanging a rental that needed an oil change. He responded by text stating that he would call me back because one of his other employees, who identified himself as "manager on duty", --Mason, refused the exchange. Brady Fryou never called back after a one hour time period of having me waiting there at the location. " that just showed a the lack of concern for an already busy, business customers time". Further, I was told by latest site manager(that came from the Gonzales location) that, although he appreciated my 30 day rentals, etc. It was just not enough revenue in order for me to be out in certain cars. TO THIS DAY, I can't understand which part of it that he doesn't understand THAT I don't control which vehicle leaves the garage. They do. I certainly didn't expect the managers to go in and CHANGE MY RATE- mid rental because they came and saw that I was released in a particular vehicle. The charges were later reversed, as I later spotted the additional charges on my credit card. The cars will forever change, but good loyal customers is what keeps businesses alive. Just for the sake of argument, I recently rented cars at Los Angeles, Miami and New Orleans and the attitudes of their workers were great. Any issues were quickly and easily deleted. I've even started renting at local locations such as Siegen Lane and the customer service has been great. The management at the airport in Baton Rouge has to change. As judged by their reviews, many customers, think the same thing about the location.

Sitting here over an hour for car we booked more than three weeks ago 8 people ahead of me. No excuse.

Made a reservation for a van/truck. Had a confirmation number. Showed up to the desk and the guy told me they only had sedans. I told him I had a reservation though. He wouldn't even look at my confirmation number and basically shrugged me off. I called Enterprise who told me to talk to the manager. I asked for the manager and he told me to go find him on 3rd floor. (Why do I have to find the manager for their mistake? Shouldn't they call him down?) I went to the 3rd floor, found the manager. He asked if I had a reservation, which I did and showed it to him. He said well, since you have a reservation, I really can't turn that down. Then got a minivan ready for me. Very very poor customer service if you ask me.

Piss-poor customer service. My vehicle broke down 15 minutes away from the airport. The "Emergency Roadside Assistance" number was of no help at all. Their tow truck never arrived, and the police impounded the vehicle. THEIR tow truck arrived in under 15 minutes. National, a family owned company, has a fetish - cost savings. They will offshore, outsource and downsize their way to higher margins despite the impact on their customers.

I've been renting cars from this location for two years now along with 4 of my coworkers that live in the state the rest rent from other national locations across the country. This location is great for the most part most of the people are super friendly except for the Branch Rental Manager Matthew Reaves. I've had multiple altercation with this kid. On more then one occasion he has accused me of damaging rental cars that I definitely did not damage. I hope if you are renting a car from this location that you will not have to deal with this smart mouth kid that doesn't know what he is talking about. The old manager was much more delightful to work with.

Found a problem with the car as I left the parking garage - spent ALL day trying to get in touch with ANYONE to report the problem. Impossible to talk to customer service. 4 times on hold for 12 minutes each time - they disconnect you after that amount of time. Press another "service button" they will tell you they can't help. The guy at the rental counter was great- it just fell apart after that.

I was accused of damage that did not occur when I had the vehicle. I was with co-workers the entire time I was driving, so I have witnesses to the fact that I did not damage it. The damage was very difficult to see (the woman on the phone even said she was not sure if it was reportable and had to get her manager to look at it - her manager decided it was) and I suspect it was there already when I picked the car up. Whoever inspected the car at National probably either did not see the damage when it first happened, or saw it and decided it was not 'reportable'. Then I came along and rented the car and now I am paying for it. This is all bad enough, but what really pissed me off was the way the woman at the counter spoke to me when she called to tell me there was damage. She started lecturing me about how I should have taken the damage waiver. She was incredibly rude. I had to interrupt her several times from her rant to understand what the issue was. Once I got the facts, I told her I was traveling on company business and gave her my company's insurance information. The other thing that really pissed me off is that she then called me back and told me she was going to charge my card for the deductible. This is literally 30 minutes after I turned the car in. National charged my card for $500 before getting any estimate of the cost to fix the damage. I have heard about scams like this and I am guessing that a few things are going to happen: 1. The car will not be repaired, they will just pocket the money. 2. Some unsuspecting renter will come along and rent the same car and go through the same experience I have. To top it all off, my company just signed a corporate agreement with this company. We give them tons of business every year and this is how I have been treated... I will not rent from National at Baton Rouge ever again. Plenty of other companies to choose from.

Accused me of damaging the car when I returned it. They did a walk-a-round then but did not do one when I took the car. Charged my AMEX $250 without my consent. Damage was so minor that you had to look at just the right angle to even see anything. When I got the car the lazy girl at the window in the garage did not walk me to the car or give me a space number. Just motioned that it's over there somewhere. I did not damage the car. My company later got National corporate to remove the charge. I will never rent from National again. Especially in Baton Rouge.
