A great coastal Mexican restaurant! I came on a Friday around 6 and was seated immediately outside on the front patio. When we went inside to the hostess stand, the restaurant was beautiful. It gave coastal vibes, and it was very clean from what we saw. We were seated at the front patio. My only complaint, no tvs out there... because the inside is so beautiful, you can look at that, so I wish there was something outside. But, I did like the string lights out in the parking lot. To start, we got lots of drinks. I started with the sangria, which I didn't love, so for my second drink I got the guava margarita, which I loved! Also, the color of it was pretty. We also got the frozen margarita, which was very strong. Chips were also complimentary for the first round, and then you had to pay to get more. The salsa that was with it was spicy but good. For food, I got the burrito, which came with a lot of food! Fries, beans, and rice all with it. I got the rice and beans on the side, and the rice was different, but I liked it. It was sweet and had corn mixed in. The burrito was cut like a wrap,and this made it a lot easier to eat. The food was 10/10 and tasted very fresh. The service could have been better, as we waited a long time for our waitress to come check on us, but other than that she was very nice and got everything we ordered correct. I can't wait to come back for more.

Veracruz might be tucked away, but once you step inside, the cool, vibrant vibe makes it worth it. The food is fresh and full of flavor, and the menu isn't your typical Baton Rouge Mexican lineup -- there are some unique dishes you won't find elsewhere. The service is consistently great, and Hunter, the bartender, deserves a shoutout -- especially for the spot-on spicy margaritas. A great hidden gem with excellent food, great drinks, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile.

The food, drinks, and staff at Veracruz were absolutely exceptional. The tacos and rice were phenomenal, with unique variations that worked amazingly well. I was beyond pleasantly surprised with the rice, as it consisted of white rice and corn, and it tasted better to me than the yellow rice served at non-coastal Mexican restaurants. The tacos were boasting with flavor, while not being overpowering whatsoever, and were delicious in their entirety. The flavors of the meat, as well as the sweet potato, were blended perfectly with the toppings and garnishes listed. The wait staff and bartender were super friendly, attentive, and fast, and the ambiance was modern, open with high ceilings, and inviting. It is certainly a hidden gem, both literally and figuratively, as it can be slightly challenging to find the entrance and parking; but it is well worth the adventure! Highly recommend. Thank you Veracruz for a 5 star experience! P.s. I need to remember to get more pictures instead of getting lost in the sauce - next time will do!

New places means it's time for me to go try it out. This new restaurant is bringing a twist on the Mexican food cuisine options we have in BR. I went for lunch and got the fajitas and a cup of queso to go along with my chips. First, the fajitas were pretty good and had a little different flavor profile than what I get a Tex mex restaurants. Overall I enjoyed it. The rice was different but that's the point of this concept. It was ok. The star of the show was the queso. Very delicious! Would highly recommend this and the salsa served with it is not bad - just a little sweet. Overall the place is clean, my waiter was nice, but for lunch this can be a bit pricey. I might stop back for a dinner!

Alright, people. This place is SO GOOD!! The food is incredible. The service is wonderful. The design is cute inside too. Even the chips and salsa are awesome. The salsa is different, kind of sweet, super tasty. You MUST order the Tuna Tostones app. The Pulpo (octopus) taco and the Ostion (oyster) taco are amazing!!! And the rice and beans are great, not just thoughtless sides. Everything on the menu is high quality but the prices are not bad. I got to meet the owner, William, because he is so active greeting customers, serving food, checking on tables and he is so great!! I have now been twice in one week and the weekend is young so I might make it three. I hope this place thrives. We need to keep places like this in business in BR. Shouldn't be a problem, yall!!

Went for lunch with my husband. Really cute place. I got the taco plate with the asada, octopus and the costra. The costra was my favorite and the octopus was a close second. The asada had a little too much going on. My husband got the tuna tostones. He really like the plantain and the idea but didn't like the sauce mixed with the tuna. Think that was a personal preference, but didn't try it to give me opinion. Can't wait to come back at dinner and gets some drinks.

Fantastic service, ask for Ace, an amazing variety of dishes to choose from. Hard to find a true Mariscos restuarant, they do a fabulous job and presentation here. Definitely will be back.

Y'ALL. I wasn't ready. I came in expecting a good dinner, and left absolutely floored. Veracruz isn't just another new spot--it's one of the best dining experiences I've had in Baton Rouge. The flavors are bold, creative, and downright addictive. I can't stop thinking about the sweet potato taco--how can something so simple be that good?! Crispy edges, warm and comforting, with just enough spice to make you pause mid-bite. The pork belly taco was rich and melty, and the asada brought that juicy, confident steak energy. Every taco was a knockout. The apps? The queso was gooey, cheesy gold, but the salsa is what sent me. I asked for it THREE times. It was unlike anything I've had before--bright, savory, and almost like a tomato basil soup and salsa hybrid. I would 100% drink it. Cocktails were perfection. The Passionfruit Martini was tropical and flirty, the Guava Margarita was sweet and refreshing, and the Añejo Old Fashioned brought depth and smoke in the best way. And I have to shout out William, the owner--he was incredibly friendly, helpful, and walked us through the menu with so much passion and clarity. You can tell he truly cares about the experience and the flavors he's putting out there. The vibe? Effortlessly coastal and modern. The kind of place you want to linger.
