Attended an anniversary party at this venue this evening. It was a little strange to get to as it's in an industrial corridor, but the space itself was attractive inside and the staff was nice and helpful. The food was fine & the bartenders made decent drinks as long as you didn't ask for anything to complicated.

Please, please, please...do not have your wedding at Taravella Manor. Only thanks to good friends & family was I able to enjoy the last part of my reception because the majority of the reception I felt like a guest of dishonor rather than a guest of honor. I waited to write my review until after I discussed with Taravella Manor. All of the issues I addressed below were of course disputed by the general manager, Darius, who acted as though everything went off without a hitch. As a result, I have decided to write a review in hopes that others will not make the mistake I did & book their wedding at this venue. Taravella Manor boosts that they will walk you through step by step, "you just show up & we will do the rest." What a joke. It was so disorganized. My hostess would stop by tell us something & then disappear! We had no attendant for myself, my groom, his parents or my mom. He & I had to go to the bar to get our own drinks all night long. There also was no reserved table for the bride & groom or our bridal party. When asked by the mother of the groom, the staff advised there were no reserved signs in the establishment. I brought a pen for people to sign my guest book & no one could find it. The general manager insisted I didn't give it to him, which just infuriated me further. During my bridal party dance, the music stopped & we were offered no explanation as we stood on the dance floor for several minutes looking around. The DJ was terrible. He played "Strokin" for the first song of my money dance & was asked 4 times before he changed it. No one could hear any of his announcements as they were all muffled. Due to miscommunication of their staff to my photographer, we cut our cake & no one knew. When I asked the general manager, Darius, he said, well that was the cake cutting if you already took pictures. The pass around food was not served until an hour and a half before the reception was ending. By the time we were made a plate by the attendant, it was ice cold. One of the staff members kept going to the dance floor. She tried to get me to dance, but I told her several times I did not want to do a line dance. When this was addressed to Darius the general manager, he says that staff dance when asked to by guests. No one asked her! She was asking people because she wanted to dance. I have several pictures of her in my professional pictures dancing- so unprofessional. The lighting is terrible in this place, spotlights nearly blinded us when walking in & photographer had to ask us to step out of it during our first dance because it was ruining our pictures. There were candles on the table, but they were not lit and it took 4 times asking for these to be lit. The place seemed to be falling apart at the seams with neither our attendant or the general manager ever readily available to address any of these issues. As I said above, despite my frustrations, my groom & I were set on enjoying ourselves & we ignored the cacophony of disaster and set our sights on the beauty of people we loved there to celebrate with us. I wanted my grievances to be heard & I was not only placated, but moreover told I was a liar. Save yourself some frustration, pay more & go somewhere else. I could probably list 20 more complaints about this place, but I believe I have painted a good picture. Several of my family members and friends have also reviewed for my wedding on 10-11-19, echoing much of the same.

Do not choose this place for a wedding venue. The bridal suite was locked. The hall cannot accommodate a 300 person reception. The buffet line took 45 minutes to get through. The bride and grooms family had to stand in the line, no one attended to them. The passing hors d'oeuvre were few and far between, if you were lucky enough to get any, Unfortunately there is no redo on a wedding however you can help keep a future bride and their family for making the same mistake. The food is actually delicious. You just won't get an opportunity to eat much of it. One of the bridesmaids, left to get takeout.

Attended a wedding reception last night that had been rescheduled due to covid. The family had rented the venue from 7-10pm. At 9:30pm the lights started coming on and at 9:45pm they stopped the music. I then witnessed a family member ask management why everything was shutting down early, and he was responded to very unprofessionally and with vulgar language. A security guard stepped in and called the police to have everyone leave. It was the most absurd thing I had ever witnessed at a venue. If that wasn't enough, the cake was not served, the food was not good, and out of the 15 or so staff I encountered, only one was pleasant and seemed to be trying to do a good job. Management is lacking and if the same people who owned it 15 years ago still do, (Kyle?) you guys need to step in and make some changes. Your venue has gone down terribly from the way it was.

I went to a wedding here and I really enjoyed the place. It's probably not the fanciest venue to hold a party or a wedding, but it gets the job done. I remember that the wedding I attended here was outside in the courtyard at night and it was really nicely lit and cozy. Fun fact: my 10 year high school reunion was held here. I didn't attend.

Where do I begin to tell you all about my experience with Taravella Manor? Let's start with the fact that Darius (the manager) and Kyle (the owner) attempted to charge a $125 fee to bring in a photo booth. When I asked Darius what did the $125 cover, he had the audacity to say it covers the use of the venue's electricity and the cost to set up. First of all, the cost of renting the facility should include the use of electricity. I told Darius my contract with Taravella Manor does not state we have to pay $125 fee. Darius explained that the fee is a separate charge, and it has to be PAID IN CASH because it's not included in the contract. I told Darius my fiancé and I are not paying this fee because we are not contractually obligated. So Darius leaves to discussed the matter with Kyle in their office while I sat at a table in the venue waiting. Darius returns and tells me that they have decided to "waive" the $125 fee because it's not stated in your contract, but going forward we will include the $125 fee in the contract. Whatever Man! Oh did I forgot to mention, Darius told me if I wanted to bring in my own DJ, it would have cost us an additional $125 just to set up! The next headache was the fact I wanted to bring in my rental chairs, piping draping to create a backdrop for my wedding cake, and a gas lamp self-service photo booth. First, Darius said Taravella Manor's chairs could not be removed from the facility because of wear and tear. When I spoke to Kyle, he said he paid $6,000 for his chairs, and he does not have the storage space to stow them. As for the piping draping, Kyle and Darius did not allow the piping draping because they were afraid it will scratch the floors. Please keep in mind that 1) our event planner and her crew have the padding to place at the bottom of the post to protect the floor, and 2) the flooring at Taravella Manor is concrete! Lastly, Darius and Kyle had concerns with the gas lamp photo booth because it was too tall. At this point, my lawyer sent out a demand letter to Taravella Manor because my contract and the decoration policy does not prohibit me from doing so. My lawyer and Kyle's lawyer reached an agreement to only allow piping draping. I had to contact my photo booth vendor to choose a different photo booth option. The timeline for the reception was a total disaster. Our wedding planner and her crew had 30 minutes to decorate the entire venue. I was told decorators have an hour to set up, which is still not enough time. I'm not sure why Darius instructed a policeman to follow her around the reception hall during the set up time, but he did! Throughout the night, our wedding planner had a very difficult time coordinating the reception because Darius constantly overstepped his bounds. Because of his "I run the show" attitude, several mishaps occurred. First, our bridal party was never introduced. Secondly, Darius and his crew had disassembled our wedding cake before we had to opportunity to cut it. Luckily, my husband found Darius and told him to bring our wedding cake back out in order for us to cut our first slice. Thirdly, our wedding cake and the groom's cake were never served to our guests despite the fact the servers had plenty time to slice and serve our guests both cakes! Guess who had to leave with 3 tiers of wedding cake and the entire groom's cake????? At the end of the night, I was beyond upset and disappointed with my experience with Taravella Manor. Darius' behavior was totally unprofessional and downright disgusting! To anyone out there needing a venue, please do not rent this hall to host any event.

My son's wedding was there in September outside in the courtyard. Everything was beautiful. Everyone raved about the food and service. Very reasonably priced.

I had my rehearsal dinner here. The place was beautiful and the staff was amazing. They were very nice and easy going. They allowed my guest to enter 45 mins early with no problem no questions asked. You cannot beat the price, very reasonable. They food was good. The owner was awesome and very accommodating. Even offered to give rides to my guests after their cabs failed to show. But we got it worked out. It was beautiful and wonderful. All my guests had a great time and really enjoyed everything They also give a personal waiter for bride and groom and parents. Great time great place we are so happy with our choice

This review could be an essay length but I will try to sum everything up into a semi-quick review by using bullet points instead of story form! * TM boasts that they will do all of your decorating for you prior to the start of your event. You just need to bring in the items and explain to them how and where everything goes. However. when we brought in our decor 2 days prior to the event the one staff person that was there to see the layout appeared to be overwhelmed. We then asked if we could just do it ourselves the day before which she agreed to. The only decorating chore that we left was for the TM staff was to tie chair sashes on all the chairs. This was still being done as my guests were walking through the front door. * We requested to have TM setup using 20 tables with 6 chairs per table. Instead the staff set 5 chairs per table. This caused many of my guests to not have seating. *TM assured me that there would be a staff person at the entrance with a guest list. I only wanted those peoples names from the guest list to be allowed to enter the event. There was no staff member at the front door. * I was told the TM staff would reserve the first 2 rows of each side of the ceremony pews for siblings, parents,and grandparents of the couple (which is traditional). This was not done so I was forced to ask my guests to move in order to accommodate the immediate family. * It was discussed with the TM staff that we would do a cocktail/appetizer hour after the ceremony but prior to the reception to give Bride and Groom time to finish pictures. However, the TM manger on duty opened the buffet immediately after the ceremony. When i asked him not to serve he began yelling at me that he would not. I asked him why and he said thats not how things were done at New Orleans events. I am from New Orleans. I asked him if we could go into his office or the kitchen to discuss the matter instead of doing so in front my guests. He informed me that I wasn't welcome in either location. * During the outdoor garden ceremony the building's A/C units turned on. In addition to ruining the romantic ambience of the moment, it became impossible to hear the ceremony. TM sold my sister upon her first visit to the venue with their accommodating personalities. However, once it became time to actually begin asking for slight changes to the hall (i.e. can we push this table one foot to the right) the answer was always "no." Many of the responsibilities that were told to us were going to be handled by their staff on the wedding day were never done. Brides remember, this day is precious and assuming you aren't a "bridezilla" there should more "yes" responses to what you ask for than "no." The people you pay to help you host your wedding day should want to accommodate your requests within reason. They are in a service industry. They are there to serve your needs. Taravella Manor does not do such. I DO NOT recommend hosting your special event at this venue. The food may be good but the taste that the service leaves in your mouth will overpower all else.

I went to this reception hall for a wedding reception on Saturday. I've been to many, and despite TM, being in an industrial complex, the minute you drive in, you forget all that. The parking lot and front of the building is immaculate. There were doormen, and a beautiful hall that looked brand new. I've lived on the Westbank for 15 plus years and never knew about this venue. The staff was professional and accommodating, without being obtrusive. Everything was pretty unbelievable, because I just don't expect this on the Westbank-nothing of this caliber. The food was incredible as well, and the food was what prompted me to write this review. I wasn't expecting food made from scratch, I was expecting food fried 15 ways from a factory in Minnesota. They passed freshly fried shrimp and chicken that was better than anything I'd ever had before, and the chicken and sausage gumbo was authentic. I was pleasantly surprised by all of this, because most hotels don't do this good a job with wedding receptions. I know, I work at one.
