Jag har varit där två gånger under den senaste veckan och kock Pete har nådigt förberett av - menyn vegetariska rätter för mig. Min man och min bror åtnjöt grundligt sina fläsk- och skaldjursrätter också. Delarna är generösa och varje sak är att dö för. Kock Pete bråkar inte!

8 av oss var ute och frågade en lokal var man skulle åka. Hans entusiasm berättade för oss att vi var tvungna att försöka. Det var en väntan eftersom detta tar ut endast plats gör varje måltid en i taget. Åh var det värt att vänta. Helt enkelt den bästa måltiden jag har haft i New Orleans!

Vi bodde i en Airbnb i Algiers och denna plats hålls kommer upp i konversation och lokala recensioner. Vi väntade hela veckan och missade vår möjlighet på Fars dag, för vilken han torkades ut på två timmar. Det var värt att vänta. Hans dagliga byta menyer var några av de mest kreativa vi såg under besöket. Jag skickade ett par anteckningar under min vistelse och fick snabba svar varje gång. Jag noterar här att jag är vegan och jag såg ingenting på menyn som jag kunde äta. Bestämd att åtminstone kontrollera platsen, gick jag men ned med min grupp och bestämde att jag skulle fråga om han kunde arbeta med mig (resten av min grupp är inte vegan). Vi gick ner omkring 5:30 på torsdagen och var glada att se att det inte fanns en linje utanför byggnaden, som vi hade hört är ganska vanligt. Byggnaden är väldigt liten och kan bara rymma cirka 4 - 5 personer inuti för att vänta. Det är en bra idé att veta vad du vill innan han kommer till dig, eftersom varje beställning görs för beställning, så det tar ett tag att få din mat, men väntan är en del av upplevelsen. Vi hade några riktigt roliga konversationer med andra i rad, mestadels lokalbefolkningen. Allt vi beställde var full av smak, presenteras vackert och delarna är ganska stora, så du kan enkelt spara lite till frukost eller lunch nästa dag. Kock sa att han skulle arbeta med mig, så jag bad honom att göra mig "kockens val". Han gjorde mig Neptun sallad, sans skaldjur och tillsatte falafel. Sallat var utsökt och falafel var plats på. Denna sallad är ginorm och matar två personer lätt, eller kunde ha gjort 4 stora sallader. Mina vänner hade samma sallad med skaldjur och ranted och raved om deras. De kunde bara äta hälften och slutade med resten nästa dag som en annan måltid. De hade också en order av jordnötssmör / banan cannolis som jag hörde var himlen. Den andra natten var linjen lite längre och vi väntade utanför i några minuter, få historier från lokalbefolkningen om tidigare erfarenheter på ARS och ge oss all information om saker som de tyckte om i NOLA. Den här gången lade kocken en vegan till menyn. (Jag tycker om att det var på grund av mitt inlägg om att återvända på fredag:). Men även om det inte var fallet var det bra att se, eftersom det inte finns massor av veganalternativ i NOLA. Jag hade polenta med rostade grönsaker och grillad asparges, och den hade lager av ljusa smaker och fylldes mycket. Min fru hade stekt gröna tomater med räkor louie (hon är en flexitarian) som hon sa var en av hennes favoriträtter i NOLA. Våra vänner fick en caesarsallad (STORA!), Pasta med bräserad fläskkulder som matade 4 personer, hela rostad pompano med sparris, skaldjur sallad och en nyckel lime paj. (De gick lite överbord.) Vi tog all denna mat över till kronan och ankaren för att sluka den med drycker. Vi hade en så stor upplevelse och skulle aktivt ta färjan till ARS även om vi bodde någon annanstans i NOLA nästa gång.

Utmärkt mat. Detta är vårt första besök på kocken Pete, eftersom Marisol förstördes tyvärr av Katrina. Detta var överlägset vår favoritplats att gå, men vi har inte fångat sin matlagning sedan dess. Mycket glad att äntligen göra det till Pointen, och det gjorde han självklart inte besviken. Menyn ändras nära kontinuerligt och publiceras på hans Facebook-sida. Men vår erfarenhet av kocken Pete är att det spelar ingen roll vad du får, det kommer bli bra! Det här är en "take-out" stilrestaurang, så var beredd att ha en trevlig sitta middag på parken, på leveen, tillbaka på ditt hus / hotell. Lokalbefolkningen har det bra!

Heliga delar, mina ögon var större än min mage! Detta är en seriös dold pärla. Vi besökte området och bodde i en Airbnb i närheten. Med alla NOLA matalternativ är det lite överväldigande. Det finns inte massor av alternativ på Alger sida av floden, vi plockade upp denna plats eftersom det var supertängt, recensioner var bra och det var öppet på söndagar. Wow lever det upp till förväntningarna. Inte bara fick vi massor av mat, men det var så bra och tjänsten var bra. Det är en enmanshow så det är inte freaky snabbt, men helt värt att vänta. YUM! Vi dyker redan in i maten så förmodligen inte de bästa bilderna jag någonsin har tagit, men litar på mig, det är bra.

Detta är ett underbart ställe att plocka upp mat på kvällen. (Det finns inga bord - bara ta ut. ) Pete Vazquez is the chef och server. Allt är utsökt. (Även om det ibland lite i kryddiga sidan för mig - jag bara hålla mjölk handy, därför att det är värt det. ) Kolla deras FB sida för dagens saker på menyn. Pete har även ett svalare med några standard sallader, sida och desserter. Allt är tillgängligt förrän det tar slut. Den fattar lite för honom att sätta ihop plattorna - det är ett bra tillfälle att lära känna de andra personer i linje som människor i Alger är mycket vänliga. På att portionerna är också bra - vi har normalt nog för rester nästa dag.

Den är öppen Fredag, lördag & söndag mellan 5 - 21:00 (eller tills maten är borta) . Eftersom det är bara Pete, det är en god idé att kontrollera FB webbplats för att se till att han är öppen eftersom ibland liv händer.
