This is quite an affordable and quite a large selection of food on a buffet. The drink price will up the price of the buffet more than you might suspect so just be sure to double check your drink price before ordering one. The food is overall pretty decent with a lot of canned veggies along side some decent proteins. There is a little Chinese food thrown in with some things like Salisbury steak, fried chicken, chicken nuggets etc. Overall a decent budget place for a variety of food.

Clean establishment, but the food was just ok. The shrimp fried was not very tasty, it wasn't bad, just not to my liking. The shrimp in the rice was a bright red color, which was quite interesting. Fried chicken was not to my liking either. It wasn't bland, but the seasoning used was not good. The only thing I enjoyed fully were the fish bites.

Buffet $5.99 All You Can Eat, Monday-Saturday 10:45am - 7pm. Today as add-ons they had boiled crawfish for $2.29/lb and boiled shrimp was out but $4.99/lb. Po Boys $5.99 and $6.99. Photos of all the food are displayed above the register. A couple 30" LCD TV's on the wall, local radio station playing. Clean and new. I put several photos of the buffet and one of outside up. P.S. Giving a 5 star review to get some more Yelpers over here! I'd rank it 4.1 star, but want to encourage more reviews!

I might go 3.5 stars if possible... The ribs,chicken and pork chops were great. The mac n cheese , mashed potatoes and gumbo should never be served again. $6.99 +1.89 soda w/tax is 9.72.. Fair enough deal to eat here.

Love this place the staff are very friendly and the place is nice neat and clean. This is a place I would recommend to family and friends. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet for one price.

You know for a place that is pretty indicative of a Hooverville inside and out, the food isn't terrible at all. The buffet is 6.99, and with a drink it ends up being about 9 bucks; that's not too bad at all. The selection isn't huge, but there is a variety of things ranging from soul food to Chinese food. I work in New Orleans occasionally, and if I need lunch when I'm in the area I usually come here. Try and see how you like it!

$5.99 is not a lot of money. I'm looking on my desk and see a can/bottle opener, a pepper grinder, an empty bottle of some organic raspberry beer, a broken fleur de lis antique table lighter and a few valiums . Each one of those things cost about 8 bucks each and they all just pretty much suck when compared to the $5.99 all you can eat buffet meal I just had. Now if you blindfolded me and we played - Which gumbo came from Creole King and which came from Liuzzas by the Track, it is admittedly no contest, but you can whop up your plate with a big freaking pile of a variety of New Orleans and try above average, if ot incredible versions of all of it. Or several plates. Theirried chicken is better than the much overrated McHardys around the corner, mac and cheese is passable, fried catfish as good as most joints and boiled spicy sausage is delicious wherever you are, its not sublime (whatever that means,) but it is good, especially with their home made tartar sauce). They had veggies if that's your bag, but luckily they cover the broccoli in so much cheese sauce you cant even see the green. With lettuce, chicken, hard boiled eggs and bacon bits and vinegar I even invented what I now call the Seventh Ward Cobb Salad. The sweet Asian cashier was singing along to the 89s lunch power hour so I got to hear her renditions of REO Speedwagons Keep on loving you. that was worth $4 right there making the meal really just $1.99. When I left, I didn't walk , I waddled. Sometimes I think New Orleans isn't the healthiest city. If your heading to Jazzfest its right along the way...so take a stop and support a local business and see and taste a day in the life of working class New Orleans food, Really $5.99 is insane. I ran the numbers, it makes no sense. Even if they are fishing their own catfish and frying my escaped chickens, I dont see how it is so cheap.

This place is....ghetto. But it didn't stop me or my conservative parents. We walk in, and the space spells g-h-e-t-t-o. No matter. We walk up to the register and prepay, grab a table, and take our Styrofoam plates to the buffet. STYROFOAM. Plates. Anyway, there is probably 15ft of counter space for food, the standard stainless steel buffet aisle. Although there is a decent selection of spaghetti, fried chicken, greens, mac-n-cheese, etc the BEST items are the fried catfish and red-beans-n-rice. For the last two aforementioned items, I was even tempted to give them 5 stars. Crazy, right? The fish is amazingly fresh (based on one encounter). The batter becomes secondary because when the fish is this good, it overrides any deficiency, if any. Then the red beans n rice? Holy moly. It taste just like Popeyes. I like Popeyes but at $2 for a small container, you can get as much as you want at Cajun King for less than $6 or 7, buffet style. Beast. Simply Beast. P.s. The desserts and fruit are typical of any low end buffet but hey, at the least the brownies were decent. Overall, the food is amazing especially for the price. Funny thing, they have a sign saying you can't eat more than 90mins. Weird right? I guess freeloaders who hang around really want to get double their money back, and then some.

Eating at Cajun King is an experience in and of itself. I stopped by with a friend on a whim after dropping her car at the nearby Boudreaux's Automotive. We joked about stopping because of the cheap $5.99 price tag and then figured, "hey, what the hell..why not?" It was crowded on a weekday lunch hour. Signs covered the restaurant telling people to not waste food by getting more than they could eat, warning customers that the numerous cameras would catch them if they tried to smuggle food out of the restaurant, and letting everyone know that there was a 90-minute dining room time limit. A buffet plus a water cup and tax came to $7 and some change. The food choices consisted of typical soul food (delicious buttery cabbage, spicy fried chicken, mac & cheese, cat fish, etc) and some Asian fare (fried rice, sweet & sour chicken, egg rolls). Everything tasted pretty good but we were so stuffed from the first go-round we couldn't make a return trip to the buffet line. If you want to get bang for your buck and some unhealthy yet satisfying buffet food then check Cajun King out.
