Hard to get any info ahead of time - the ticket kiosk is outside the ferry office where I knocked and got no help from employee inside . Luckily a very jaunty and friendly young man passing by helped me. Thank you!! Tickets for adults are very reasonable and can be used on any other transport if you're going around the city --pay for a jazzy pass if you're going to be out and about all day. We were just taking our grandsons out for fresh air, quick boat ride , time out for their parents and to visit the charming Algiers neighborhood. It takes only minutes to cross . Fun way to spend a few hours . Very scenic. Seniors pay 80 cents and the kids were free! Woohoo!

How dare you guys change us to leave the East Bank? The ferry was always a 5 star experience before they started charging people to use it. I am certain that is only because they do not charge people to use the Crescent City Connection while going from the West Bank to the East Bank. They needed to recoup that money some type of way, so now they are charging for foot traffic. Well, this is a smooth ride over the Mississippi River and is a short water ride, but an experience that will last with you for a long time. It is currently $2 per person to ride, and the ferries come frequently. Just be warned, if you use this for night time travel, the ferry does stop running at some point each night.

Good, wholesome, cheap family fun! For $3/person, you can ride unlimited rides across the River! Great way to see the lighted city at night and the bridge. The paddle oat is also really cool to see on the River. Jackson Square is beautiful from the River.

The canal street ferry affords one of the best views of the city. As you make it mid river you can take beautiful photos of the city skyline. The best part about the ferry is that it is free for pedestrians. There isn't too much to do in Algiers Point if your not from here (its mostly residential), but there are several cool bars and the dry dock cafe has pretty good food. I would highly recommend this ride to tourists and locals who want to get an excellent view of the city and enjoy the river. For an even longer ride, you can catch the vessel to Gretna from the Canal landing and have a 30 minute ride that goes under the CCC.

The ferry was such a nice ride across the Mississippi River. If you're debating on a boat ride to see the New Orleans skyline, I recommend just taking a round trip on the ferry. It cost only $2 each way, so that's $4 and you'll have a great view. It's cheaper than buying a dinner boat ticket that cost like $50 and more. I recommend checking what time the sun sets and go then. The ferry comes every 20 minutes. The ride last about 5 minutes each way. If you don't plan to get off on the other side, just know that you'll need to get off, and go around back in line and pay to get back on the boat. Bring exact change like small bills or coins. There is a vending machine that will give you change if you forget. Hopefully your smallest bill isn't a $20. I got dollar coins and those are so heavy.

Ferries leave on the hour and 1/2 hour on the Algiers side and 1/4 before and 1/4 after the hour on the Canal St. and Chalmette sides. Fares are $2 each way and exact change is needed. Coin machines are available. $2 isn't a lot, but the ride across the Mississippi River was short- maybe 5 mins. St. Louis Cathedral can be viewed from a distance.

We came over to yonder Ferry for a little sight seeing over the mighty Mississippi...it was a very brief tour. It's $2 each way for adults with little squirts riding for free. I'm fine with that, however, the ride was quite literally 8 minutes with 2-3 of those minutes being the slow down and docking portion. The inside is air conditioned, but in a word the ferry is Janky. The views of the shoreline are probably worth the $2 price of admission, but it just feels wrong to charge me money, make me physically exit the boat, only to round a corner and get back on for the low price of $2...again. The quaintness of the Ferry is quickly eclipsed by the myriad of rust throughout, the chairs that may have been purchased at a church yard sale a few decades ago and the bug carcasses that are plentiful amongst the aforementioned rusty areas. The upper deck is nice given the few minutes of breeze that are available and provide for a some good photo ops.

It's a boat. You pay $2 and you get to sit on the boat. You're also allowed to stand. You get passed by fancier boats that cost more than $2. When you get off, you're on the other side of the Mississippi. I don't know how many more details I can give. Yes, but the boat itself isn't the nicest. But it's functional, and I'm still alive, so no complaints. And maybe it's because I'm from New York and I've seen fare hikes throughout my lifetime like you wouldn't believe, but a lot of people on this Yelp page are super angry that this ferry costs $2. You get to ride a boat. For $2. Chill out, people.
