I travel to NOLA one night per month, and lately have stayed at LaQuinta by Wyndham Downtown. The location is convenient, but it's the staff members who make the hotel my preferred place to stay. On my most recent visit, I asked KERRA at the front desk if she'd hold my knapsack until check-in time. She allowed me to just check in early so that I didn't have to lug my bag around the French Quarter all day. I really appreciate her kindness and helpfulness; she made my brief monthly stay in New Orleans much more comfortable!

My recent stay at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham New Orleans Downtown (Nov 8-10, 2025) was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I've ever had. Checking in was a hassle from the start -- the front doors were locked at all times, and there were no clear instructions on how to get inside. I could only enter because another guest happened to walk out. The front desk staff was rude and unwelcoming, and no one mentioned the $150 deposit until check-in, which also caught another guest by surprise. Once I finally got checked in, the key cards didn't work, and I had to lug my bags back downstairs to get new ones. The elevator had water on the floor with a wet floor sign sitting there all weekend, showing poor maintenance and safety standards. The room itself was dirty and poorly maintained. The bathroom floors and sink were dirty, there was a used toilet paper roll left behind, poor water pressure, and a loose, unsafe safety bar in the shower. There was no ventilation fan, the entry light didn't work, and one of the light fixtures was missing a cover. The refrigerator was dirty, the front door barely opened or closed without my husband having to put weight behind his push or pull, and the floor clearly hadn't been vacuumed -- there were crumbs on the floor by the nightstand. The AC unit barely cooled the room and was so loud it overpowered the TV, which was capped at volume 30. The comforter was thin and offered no warmth, and the walls were paper-thin -- I could hear the room next door's phone alarm at 5:30 a.m. and every door opening and closing in the hallway. To top it off, one of the cups by the minibar had water in it, meaning it hadn't even been cleaned. I paid $430 for two nights, and this experience was well below acceptable standards for any hotel, let alone one under the Wyndham name. I have photos and videos documenting everything mentioned. This property needs serious management attention and a full review of its cleanliness, safety, and customer service standards. I've reached out to Wyndham corporate for a full refund and will not be staying at this location again.

I'd give La Quinta a solid 2.5 stars if I could. Two of my friends and I decided to do an impromptu trip to New Orleans for the first time after finding super cheap flights here ($99 round trip!). We booked La Quinta Downtown since it was right in the heart of the central business district and was in good proximity to pretty much everything we wanted to do while we were down here. The hotel itself is clean, has no bedbugs, and offers free breakfast and a free welcome drink upon arrival. They will hold your luggage if you get there before your check-in time and they will also hold your luggage for you in a secure checked baggage area if you need to check out before your flight so you're not hauling around your suitcase all day. I did really appreciate those and I wish I had known those when we came to check in since we ended up toting our luggage on the first day here for six hours while we waited for our room to be ready (not the hotel's fault, we requested early check in at 1pm but we arrived in NOLA at 7am). We were able to request early check in for an additional fee ($30) and they do have a very small outdoor rooftop pool (you enter at 3ft and it goes to 4ft) on a balcony on the fifth floor that has some good views of the city. Now, for the downsides, I did struggle with a rude employee our first morning at breakfast that did not want to give me ingredient and allergen information citing that they were too busy and it would be too difficult for her to do so, and claimed that the front desk would be able to help me. Another kitchen staff, I believe it was the manager, overheard this employee and escorted me to the front desk to try to get this solved, but the front desk did not have any information and it turned out the kitchen manager was able to get the information incredibly easily and very quickly (like less than 30 seconds). I would highly recommend that they emphasize to all of their employees of the importance of taking food allergies seriously, and creating some sort of binder to keep in the kitchen area that has all the ingredient information for their breakfast foods so that this doesn't happen again. Every hotel I've ever been to either has the information available as a PDF on their website, or in that binder I was talking about being kept in the kitchen area. Breakfast was pretty good, although that was the worst coffee I've ever had. Also, we booked for two nights here and we learned that housekeeping would only come every three days to switch out towels and sheets, and if you wanted them to come more often, you could do so upon request but only with 24 hours notice. I thought this would mean that housekeeping would still come daily to vacuum, wipe down counters, empty trash cans, restock toilet paper, soaps, etc. but apparently it means they literally only come every 3 days for everything. On our reservation, we noted we'd be a group of 3, but when we went to take night showers, there were only 2 towels. I called the front desk at 8pm on Saturday to request more towels, toilet paper, and a few other things that came with our room, but housekeeping never came. The next morning, we called again. They told us housekeeping was running late that morning but they still had our request down from the night before. Do they not have 24/7 housekeeping on shifts? What if a kid wets the bed and needs new sheets, or you run out of toilet paper, like we did? They made no mention to us when we called the first night that we'd have to wait almost 14 hours for toilet paper and towels and that they didn't have a night shift housekeeping. At least let us know so we can prepare better... We got our stuff the next morning at almost 10am. The elevator was super jumpy and kept trying to close on us as we would get in. The elevator floor was sticky. The tv volume in our room wouldn't go below 15 (it would only go higher or mute completely). The bathroom had French doors that didn't lock (pretty, but impractical). No bathroom fan, and only one trash can in the whole room (in the bathroom). They have free WiFi, but it wasn't available. Overall, for the price of the room and the proximity to everything else. I think this hotel got the job done. It was good enough for our stay, but I'd take a look around next time for something else.

Great 1 bedroom suite, decorated in the New Orleans theme with beautiful paintings of the famous city. On the fifth floor, there's an outdoor pool and patio area. 5th floor indoor there is a gym. Complementary serve at 6am.

Was out of the room with my lady and got a smoking charge taxed onto my bill. Obviously main concern i was NOT in the building i was out on the street with my lady. checked with the staff they said the alarm censor just automatically goes off and charges right away. no accountability for their mess up or nothing. so now I'm down 430 dollars and i'm heading back to physically harm the staff Untill they realize their mistake.

We booked a room there two nights ago and went to sleep and woke up to several bed bugs in our bed. My arm had been bitten several times and was obviously swollen. The sheets look like they had not been washed and the room had barely been cleaned. The lady at the front desk was rude and management did nothing about the situation. We were stuck standing in our room the entire morning while we got ready to check out because we obviously could not sit on the beds. I have never been more disgusted by a hotel establishment. Management said they would follow up with us but of course they never did. Will be certainly taking this to corporate and I 100% recommend nobody stay at this La Quinta unless you enjoy sleeping in bed bugs and rudeness from the hotel staff.

Oh it could've been higher but...La Quinta. Clean. Not too far away from the action. One thing that should deter you from staying here is apparently there is a smoke sensor in the room that "detects" smoke. And it will go off without cause. We do not smoke, but are being charged an extra $500. We were told by La Quinta that it is an issue with a separate company, guess they outsource supposed smoke in the room. We were never told of this charge until it hit our credit card statement. Don't stay here, just don't stay here, New Orleans is not short of hotels.

If I can I want to give them no star. Stay away from the hotel. Totally scam. Parking fees on agoda app is $25. But they charge $50 at the hotel. When you want to cancel they deny. They take your money without staying. Horrible scam!!!

Be warned: The La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham New Orleans Downtown is not pet-friendly, although it is listed as so all over the internet. Furthermore, the staff will gaslight you over it, suggesting you booked through third-party sites, didn't check the website, etc. Despite the gaslighting attempt, I was able to pull up the La Quinta website itself and show the staff that the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham New Orleans Downtown is not included in the list of locations that do not allow pets. La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham New Orleans Downtown cost us time and money during out quick trip to NOLA all while being absolute displeasures to speak with. Last minute we ended up finding a room the next block over at the Magnolia Hotel New Orleans that was listed as pet-friendly online and indeed was pet-friendly. The La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham New Orleans Downtown could learn a lesson from the Magnolia Hotel.
