I had never been to the Phoenix bar, but some friends invited me and I had blast. Really fun time, Wayne the bartender is hysterical,he made the night! Will def be back

Stopped in here for a drink, not realizing I was entering one of New Orleans premier gay bars. My wife was the only woman out of 40 patrons. Our drinks were fine and the service was great. I went to the bathroom and stepped in a very adult leather shop by accident. I found the bathroom, and it was fine. I mentioned the place to locals, and they all laughed and had stories about what was going on upstairs and what not. If you want a slice of San Francisco while you're in New Orleans, I recommend this place. If you don't like alternative lifestyles, I would stay away. Not too noisy, standard bar ambience.

I will never walk back in there as a patron of the bar, or the store. We went to Gay Pride here this past June. My 73 year old husband has a heart condition. It was hot and he needed to sit. He sat at a barstool at the door where a bouncer would sit. I went in to get a drink and had a coozy on my cup. I ordered, and the bartender ( not a regular bartender, but extra help for Pride) chewed me out for handing him a cup with a coozy. Sorry dude, make it in your cup and I'll pour it in. Don't cuss me out about my grimy germ filled filthy oozy coozy. His exact words. While I return outside, husband is not in the stool. With a health condition, I kind of freak, but he called me from a distance. The police had him under a tree. Another extra help of the day saw someone show him their ID ( he was sitting where a bouncer would IF they had one.) This extra day worker freaked out, and accused him of checking ID's. Summoned the police and had a man with a heart condition being held under the tree. They ordered us to leave. I have bought a lot of stuff in that store over the years. I bought a lot of cocktails in that bar. I will never spend another dime in this place, and I'd urge anyone to do the same. All he wanted to do was enjoy himself before his scheduled surgery, and the Phoenix "employees" ruined that .

This was one of our last nightlife stops for Southern Decadence. For their Sunday night party, they had local vendors, a grill, and a Nasty Pig sale. Inside the bar, there was a little shop, but it was very well stocked. You can find everything from lube, gear, etc. This was my first time at the Phoenix, which I think is equivalent to The Eagle in other major cities. I loved how there was a bar window outside where you could order drinks without having to go inside. I am not sure if the outside seating was temporary for Decadence but it was convenient. I also enjoyed the upstairs for a bit, but spent most of my time in the main bar. They do have a Touch Tunes which were taking credits/requests but not playing the songs. Highly recommend this place if you're into bars that are heavily kink or gear positive.

The staff seems to be known for being rude to anyone who is from out of town but if you're darker skinned or have an accent you will be straight up ignored here
