I can highly recommend one of Chef Dee's cooking classes. She is entertaining and funny, and we had a great time learning how to cook our Creole lunch. And the lunch was delicious!

I used to go here for work lunches & Sunday roasts BUT the food quality has fallen steeply. Very very dry BBQ ribs (inedible). Decent enough nachos & enchiladas. Will not be back for food -- nice beer garden & atmosphere.

As a foodie, I really appreciated visiting the Southern Food & Beverage Museum. Admission was only $12, ort $9 with a student, senior, and military discount. They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and they open a little later at 11 AM. You can browse through culinary antiques. Photos are allowed and they do have some photo props around the museum as well. The museum is not that big so an hour was sufficient to walk through everything.

This was a great cooking class! The dishes were all chosen to be solid examples of New Orleans cooking. It was very hands-on, we did the chopping and the cooking ourselves. It was not the kind of class where you just sit and watch the instructor prep and make everything, we cooked! The instructors were charming, knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. I highly, highly recommend this class for someone who wants to add a menu of New Orleans dishes to their cooking repertoire. And bonus, we got to eat what we made! It was delicious!!!

A lot of great history and information! I learned a lot and as Popeyes being one of my favorite fast food restaurants, I really enjoyed learning the history some of which was interactive. I just feel like the museum is a bit of a drag. You only need one hour really. I wish the bar and kitchen as opened. I was very hungry by the end after seeing everything about food and drinks. Still would recommend.

Fun place to check out on your day off and learn about foods and drinks of the Great American South! At first I thought that only Louisiana was it's focus, but lo! The museum highlights all southern states' traditions, native fruits/veggies and landmarks known for dishing up local delicacies. The displays are wonderfully engaging and eye catching and there is plenty to absorb. The only complaint is that this place could use a THOROUGH dusting. Dead flies and a thick layer of grime on all the surfaces. I understand that non profits are usually strapped for cash so at least open a volunteer opportunity to clean once a month, will ya? SOFAB also boasts the largest collection of absinthe memorabilia in the country as well as a fully operational bar so you can sip on a sazerac or old fashioned while perusing the displays!

I hate to admit it, but I was disappointed in the Southern Food & Beverage Museum. I do feel like this place has a lot of potential to be better but at the moment the way that it is, it's kinda a waste of money. There's no real story to be told at this place and even though there are some things to read, there's no really rhyme or reason to the placement and layout of this place. We didn't even get any food when we were here, or drinks! I don't know why I had thought we could or would but I feel like that would have elevated the experience.

Highly recommend the cooking class. I received it as a Christmas gift from my wife and we really enjoyed the experience. The class was very hands on and you learn a lot of tips from Chef Dee. Plus her recipes are so great that you end up eating a great meal at the end! We made Gumbo, Maque Choux, and Bananas Foster!

I really wanted to like this place, but felt let down. I read reviews that there was a historic bar inside and cocktails were good (which makes sense since it's the home of the American Cocktail museum), but when we arrived the bar was closed. The display about influential women in the culinary history was cool, but it didn't offer much outside of flimsy displays which felt lackluster. I wouldn't recommend.

Had the best time at the museum. It is definitely a must do. If you have time, you should also sign up for the cooking class. It was the highlight. The chef and her assistant was great. We prepped the ingredients for jambalaya and also cooked it. She explained everything so well. 20 out of 10 recommend.
