This was a hidden gem that we stumbled upon while visiting the Garden District. William, the bartender, was knowledgeable and so fun. He is the mastermind behind many of the house specialty cocktails. We had aperol spritz and Swampy thing. All were delish. A really fun part was all the locals who stopped in. Very friendly and fun. Check it out. Very close tk the St Charles /Broadway stop on the St Charles line.

I've been eying the Parkview Hotel every time I'm in Audubon Park or passing by on St. Charles. It's so beautiful and once I heard they have a bar-- called the Gilded Perch at that-- I knew I had to check it out. And last night we were in the mood for a festive drink. While there's a lot of bars all pimped out for the holidays (pop-ups) in this city right now, I knew going to one of them would mean chaos and crowds. Several have actual lines to get in and I'm not standing on a line to get into a bar in New Orleans. I had a feeling Gilded Perch would be a little more chill as it's not on every influencer's radar-- at this time of year at least-- and I was right. It was beautifully all decked out with a huge Christmas tree in the sitting room across from the tiny bar parlour. We got there earlier in the evening, before 8, so it was pretty empty and we had the room to ourselves for at least 20 minutes before a group came in. The space is beautiful, holiday trimmings or not. Peacock-themed (with a beautiful mural and taxidermy... uh why did I just do a search for hunting peacocks and why is that a thing? I'll just pretend these birds died of natural causes). The bar is super tiny and there are two small chaises in that room, with seating in the hallway and parlour across the hall. If you're feeling fancy, this is really the perfect place to get a drink or two (and on nice days, sitting out on the deep porch has to be lovely). The best part is that drinks are more reasonably priced than say, the Chloe further down St. Charles. I like being up here because it doesn't get the crowds that are always at the Columns and Chloe. No shade on those places, I just prefer less people around me in general. A glass of brut rose and a kir royale set us back 26 bucks before tax and tip. Not the norm these days. I love that I have a new hotel bar on my roster and way Uptown at that.

I really enjoy this quaint, unassuming spot in the Audubon uptown area! I always visit when I want to soak in that quintessential historic New Orleans home feel...it's soo cozy and unique. Their happy hour is pretty comparable with similar bars (weekdays 4-6pm, $10 cocktails), and the drinks are always tasty. Lastly, this is a great photo op spot! The vibrant wall art and antique furnishings make for wonderful backdrops, especially during the holiday season!

Such a nice place to get a drink and relax in Uptown. It feels fancy and unpretentious at the same time. The bartenders are sweet and welcoming and they always have a good cocktail menu.

The Park View Historic Hotel on St. Charles Avenue overlooking Audubon Park now has a bar. The Gilded Perch opened two months ago and serves new and classic cocktails in a glamorous space. The Park View dates back to 1884, when it was built to welcome guests of the World International and Cotton Exposition at Audubon Park. The building was purchased and fully restored by Liz and Terry Creel in 2008. The hotel feels as if you're staying in a friend's home -- that is, if your friend has decadent taste and hosts a bar in the parlor. The Gilded Perch gives New Orleanians a chance to venture into the hotel listed on the National Register of Historic Landmarks, see the collection of antiques inside, and enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail on the patio or sprawling porch. The décor at the bar is certainly unique. While much of it came with the Park View when the Creels bought it, perhaps the most eye-catching feature is the stuffed peacocks that adorn the space. The Creels own a farm and breed 30 different types of peacocks, King said. The peacocks immortalized at the hotel all died of natural causes. Now they have assumed a stately position in the hotel. A side wall in the bar boasts a mural of two peacocks and a gilded cage, a piece by local artist and teacher Anne Smith Reeves. The bar top is made of recycled marble, and the bar itself, like the hotel, brings patrons back in time. I visited The Golden Perch on a bustling Wednesday night where the small space was at capacity with folks staying at the hotel or just stopping by for a cocktail on the Avenue. I enjoyed a Champagne Spritz with pomegranate, the perfect libation for a summer evening. The relaxed atmosphere is delightful, and the small bar encourages conversation about the day's events with friendly strangers. The Gilded Perch is a lovely spot to grab a cocktail or aperitif to sip on the hotel's porch at the beginning of an evening filled with promise or to stop in for a nightcap after dinner.

Went for a casual Friday evening with friends. Sat outside. The service was impeccable and cooperative. They created whatever we wanted without any hassle. This might be the best bar in the entire university area of uptown.

Very good drinks and the food options were surprisingly complex in a way that was bot surprising and delightful. I got the daily punch, candy remember what was in it but it was delish. We ordered a bunch of small plates and happy hour items, all were winners. The cauliflower was both crispy and spicy with a delicious cabbage in it. The potatoes were huge, but savory. There was some kind of cheese bread, v good. Overall highly recommend.

I used to love The Gilded Perch. Not so much now. I loved how small and quaint it is. Sitting at the bar and talking to the bartender while he crafted amazing drinks. Tonight, stopped in for a last cocktail of the night...no bar stools. What? The bar area was full of two families...with kids. I'm all about the laissez faire of New Orleans, but why on earth would you have your hotel bar with nice cocktails full of kids?? I asked the bartender...where are the stools? He said that they take them out over the weekend since they get full. My response...full of what? Kids? No longer a favorite.
