Fascinating Mardi gras exposition and sadly educational Katrina one. This museum really was eye opening for me. Worth the visit.

"The Living with Hurricanes: Katrina and Beyond" exhibit gave me a feeling of deep despair, pain and sorry for the people of New Orleans . Then I took a walk upstairs and was mesmerized by the history and fashion of "Mardi Gras: It’s Carnival Time in Louisiana." So happy I experience the joy and sorrow of New Orleans all in one day. It's a MUST DO visit!

Okay, so let’s talk about the Presbytere, which was built in 1790 and was originally called the "Ecclesiastical House." Fancy, right? It’s done the rounds as a courthouse and a commercial business before settling into its current role as one of the five buildings in the French Quarter that make up the Louisiana State Museum.

Now, if you want to visit, it's $7 for adults, which is basically the price of a fancy coffee, so totally worth it. The museum's first floor is all about Hurricane Katrina, and the second floor is dedicated to Mardi Gras. It's like the most New Orleans thing ever—a museum that's both extremely deadly and at the same time divinely beautiful. Talk about capturing the essence of the city!

Their current exhibition of Mardi Gras is amazing for anyone who doesn't know a thing about this crazy tradition. Everything from its origins and structure, costume design and jewels to popular themes and modern satire. The first floor of the museum is dedicated to hurricanes, also very informative.

We visited the museum for the Mardi Gras exhibition on level two but also saw the exhibition about Hurricane Catrina on level one. Both were very informative.  We had no idea how often New Orleans suffered with the devastation of these hurricanes.
In the Mardi Gras exhibition, we learnt how the date of the processions starts on the 6th of January and ends on Tuesday shrove Tuesday here or as the Americans call it Fat Tuesday before Lent.
We saw the babies that are placed in the king cakes. Also, the stunning jewellery and head pieces designed for the queen of the processions. Fantastic museum and nice and cool to escape the heat outside.
