The greatest American fried chicken served ever.

No wonder this place is an institution. Part of me believes it won't be here for much longer so take advantage of it!

The side dishes were excellent too - the white bean / red beans sides definitely stick to your ribs.

Some of the best fried chicken that I've eaten.  No reservations so be prepared to wait.  If in New Orleans...this has to be on your list to try.  Don't forget to order an extra side of gravy.

Best fried chicken I’ve ever had!! There was a long wait and they don’t do reservations, but it was 100% worth it. The seemingly humble side dishes were packed with flavor!! Highly recommend the green beans. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Hope they reopen soon.

Best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Everything was incredibly fresh, the chicken was juicy (I got dark meat), the breading was crispy and flavorful. The mac n cheese was also delicious, although the portions were a bit small for my liking. Peas were good too. I got a side of fried okra which were okay. The corn bread was small but moist and delicious.

My complaints: I was expecting a long wait, and got it. Waited an hour in line, but it was fine. They have benches so that’s nice. However, once I was seated, I ordered within 5 minutes (they have the menu posted outside) and I waited 50 minutes for my food. It’s nice that the food was fresh, but waiting for that long kinda sucked.
The portions were also pretty small (except the chicken), and I wish they were bigger so that I could bring them home. It’s also not super cheap - $15 for 3 pieces of chicken and a side, and $5 for an extra side. I don’t think I’ll come back again, mostly because of the wait. If you only have a couple of days in NOLA, I would suggest spending those 3 hours waiting and eating at another location - or waiting 2 hours in line at Preservation Hall for some good jazz.
