Great local spot for Mexican and margs! The server was very nice and attentive. The ambiance is great and not too loud and plenty of TVs for sports. The food is good with nothing really setting itself apart from most other similar restaurants but you get large portions. The margaritas slap though as the kids say. And 2 for 1 at happy hour.

Listen... the birria tacos? Fire. You get three and they do not disappoint--crispy, cheesy, and that consommé? I wanted to drink it. But the real surprise was the pineapple bowl...rice and steak cooked to perfection, served in an actual pineapple. It's giving tropical, it's giving delicious. Drinks were strong enough to make me text my ex but classy enough that I didn't. Vibes are right, food hits every time. 10/10, will absolutely be back.

Decided to visit El Patron Saturday and get take out. I'd heard great things about the one on the westbank and decided to try this one out. When I walked in, it was basically empty. They had less than 10 customers. I ordered a steak plate that came with onions,bell peppers, beans, rice, guacamole, and lettuce. The girl who took my order was nice. She said it would be around 10 mins for my food and she was right. To my surprise when I opened it there were also some tortillas included. While it smelled good, and the steak and onions looked good, it was lacking in flavor. I had to put Tony's on my steak and peppers because there wasn't much flavor. Once I cut the steak up and put everything on a tortilla, it tasted okay but still not great. If I go back I'd try something different.

We decided to give our old fav another try. I am gald we did. Things seem to have improved. The service was great and the food taste and quality has too.

We were skeptical because the reviews aren't that great, but this place was fantastic. The A/C works well the place was nice and cold. The music in the place was not too loud and the booths are really big and comfortable. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful with every request we had. The salsa was our first indication that this place would be good, it was thick and flavorful not watery and sad. I wish I took photos of the rest of our meal but it was so good we dove right in. We had enchiladas verdes and they accommodated us and put two sunny side up eggs on those. The Spanish rice was so perfectly cooked, not mushy, and it had a sweetness to it like it was made with fresh tomatoes. I had pollo mole and it tasted homemade. My husband had carnitas and they were tender, flavorful, and had a nice crisp to them. He got the salsa verde on the side with them and it was creamy delicious and had the perfect heat from Serranos in it. The charro beans were also so good! So much flavor and had beef, bacon, and salchichas in it. So so good. I highly recommend giving them a chance. Great place for a casual Mexican meal. Oh also the horchata was really good and not watery.

There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes here that people don't see. The atmosphere can be really negative, with drama and unprofessional behavior being brushed off like it's normal. It seems like respect and communication aren't priorities in how things are handled, especially when it comes to how people are treated. Just something to keep in mind.

One of my favorite Mexican places in the area and it's a great place to get out of the chaos of the city. It's your standard texmex with the free chips and salsa. They just do everything right. All the ingredients are good and the service is always lovely. I recommend taco Tuesday if you're on a budget. You can get out of there for under $10 and be totally satisfied.

We always enjoy it here, i usually get the same thing but i ventured out the last time and it was great. I had this large burrito and it was delicious. Always good!

My wife and I used to eat here regularly, years ago, but stopped going after the service and quality of food went down. We decided to give them another try. The first thing I noticed was the lack of other diners. It was around 6:00 pm on a Friday night. Besides my wife and I there was only 1 other couple in the restaurant. I just thought well, maybe it's just a slow night. However, other restaurants, that we usually eat at, had packed out parking lots. My wife and I ordered fajitas. I had chicken and steak fajitas, my wife had the chicken. Our food came in a reasonable time. The chicken and steak strips were laid on top of what was almost entirely onions. There were a few strips of bell pepper (3 or 4 pieces) mixed in with the strips of onion. I guess there was a shortage on bell pepper.....with the first bite of chicken I knew we had made a mistake eating at El Patron. It looked like the chicken and steak were probably cooked separately and then placed on top of the onions. The food was very bland and tasteless. They were the worst fajitas I have I ever eaten. The steak was tough and tasteless also. I took about 4 bites and sent the dish back. My wife ate about half of hers. We were both disappointed. Couple the poor quality, tasteless food with the loud, obnoxious music and televisions displaying a show called "ET" and you have a recipe to drive customers away. No wonder this restaurant was practically empty. We won't be back....

The good fast good tasty food. Fresh refreshing Margaritas with a nice amount of kick. The bad Whoever idea it was to drinch a BURRITO in cheese and sauce I HATE YOU. Why have these restaurants adapted this trend of eating a BURRITO with a FORK! I intentionally asked for no cheese or sauce thinking hey I can get some extra foil and eat a BURRITO like a MAN But no it's to big the BURRITO is not steamed so now I have to eat this BURRITO like a woman why not have an option for ppl who don't like eating a BURRITO forks this is not a bowl!! Oh yea people in Chalmette POST REVIEWS WTF
