The wedding of a family member was held at this historic venue. Don't let the location deter you. The location is secure. They offer free valet parking. And the venue is all about Baltimore. It's on the site of one of the Carroll mansions and close to the flag house. Lots of history to consume. There is also lodging on site. And a courtyard for weddings right off S Front St. This is where the ceremony was held. The catering venue consists of four floors. Elevators are available for those needing it. The cocktail hour was held on the second floor under the City Lights. Dinner on the fourth. Wall murals all about Baltimore! Easy access via elevator or stairs. The food and beverage business at 1840's Plaza is exclusive to Rouge Catering of Hunt Valley. Exceptional team of professionals and food! Many shy away from evenings in town. Most of the time I can't blame them. But 1840's Plaza is well worth considering if you're planning a family or business event. Even if the fire alarm mysteriously goes off!

What a lovely venue! I attended a Friday evening wedding in May 2022. The wedding was initially supposed to be outside but the rain spared no mercy that evening so everything had to be moved inside. The staff and crew executed everything perfectly!! The transition was smooth! The ballrooms are spacious, vaulted ceilings, nice drapery but a bit outdated for my taste. I'm sure that's the theme of the place but I think even if vintage or retro is the theme/look, they could still use a facelift. It's wheelchair accessible! The courtyard is also love and spacious. Huge dance floors. 4 stars instead of 5 because of the food. It was bland, dry and bare served room temperature. For dinner we had dry stuffed chicken with some sort of flavorless sauce, green beans that were sautéed lightly, also flavorless and truffle mashed potatoes with caramelized onions. A rather bland seafood creole dish was on the menu as well. I took one bite and couldn't finish. They were absolute my delicious! I had two servings to make up for the rest of the food. We also had a seafood creole dish that tasted like canned tomato soup with with frozen shrimp and scallops. Others enjoyed. ‍

Beautiful venue in a convenient location in Downtown Baltimore. Also great for out-of-town guests! Although we reside in DC/MD/VA area, majority of our guests were from out of town, and we wanted to ensure convenience for them. Located in the Inner Harbor, the venue is close by the BWI airport, and right next to the venue is a hotel within a short walking distance. We had a room block with the hotel, and because of the proximity to the venue, our out-of-town guests did not need to rent a car and explored Downtown Baltimore. For guests driving to the venue, complimentary valet parking is provided the day of which was a big plus. The 1840s staff are extremely professional, friendly and accommodating, especially Stasia, who served as our main POC. She made us feel like family. It's a great venue for photos, especially the backdrop of the Fava building. The Carrollton Inn is a very lovely getting ready spot day of and place to stay on the wedding night. The Carrollton Inn breakfast is sooo good - we had to throw this in as well! Thank you 1840s for the great experience and memorable wedding day! And a special THANK YOU to Stasia!

This venue is spacious and charming. I only saw floors one and four because of a party I attended but overall, the place was nice. Only real drawback I saw was that the elevators are super slow and due to the party they were even slower. Something to keep in mind. If I'm not wearing heels the next time I visit, I'll take the stairs.

I don't know if I can say enough good things about 1840s. I love the uniqueness of the venue really can fit anyone's tastes and great for different photo back drops. Staff was amazing and friendly, really responsive and helped with my every need and question. Day of it was pouring down rain! The valet provided umbrellas to guests till they got inside! Nice touch! Packing up was also made easier by their staff, they went out in the pouring rain so I didn't have to in my dress! Would definitely recommend going to one of their open houses! You get to see the space in all it's glory, not to mention taste all the food! TIP! See the place sometime alone, if you like it and decide to book wait until the open house! If you book at the open house could save you $500 or so. I made that mistake, don't let it happen to you! We were lucky that no one else booked a wedding on our day so we had free reign of the venue for pictures or just hanging out. I don't know if my experience would have been the same if someone else was booked on that day. Whomever books first gets pick of time and then if someone else chooses that day they are scheduled two hours later. So you are taking a risk. They were super open to any of my ideas and made it happen! They provide tables and chairs which is a big money saver and they also allow you to bring your own alcohol so open bar is super easy! The bed and breakfast is great too, a little pricey but great for bridal suites and photos. The Carroll Suite I got was HUGE and the seven or eight people we had getting ready had more than enough room, even with hair and makeup people. If you have that amount of people you might be able to go a smaller room but if you have a big party one of the suites would be perfect. Breakfast that morning was also included! Would recommend this place to any bride!

My husband and I had the pleasure of dual celebrations - our 30th year wedding anniversary AND my 65th birthday at 1840 Plaza City Lights Ballroom. The venue is amazing, both elegant and fun. Kori was very accommodating and contributed to our overall experience. We also stayed at the Carrollton Inn. The Patriot Room, which overlooks the courtyard, is absolutely lovely and perfect for a relaxing evening after festivities. Breakfast the next morning was hot and delicious. We would definitely recommend this venue for special occasions. So glad we found this hidden treasure in Baltimore City.

Very nice event. . Was here for the Brew more it was indoors. With nice appetizers. 2 floor levels. Samples of beer and food. Great people, they have several booths down stairs to sit at and a sofa on the upper level. Restrooms on both levels. You need that when drinking beer. I really enjoyed my self. Good event! The three hours went by fast when you're having fun. This also included a DJ. .

I stayed here one time a very long time a go right there and then I decided that this was where I was going to have my wedding and my honeymoon. So now many many years later I am a happily married man and I am greatly looking forward to my honeymoon at the plaza

The 1840s Plaza is an awesome event venue. It's historic and grand, and can also be breathtaking at times. The plus side is that now its first and third floors are home to our church gatherings on Sundays (and sometimes other days too). It's pretty awesome to have it at the 1840s Plaza. There are plenty of parking spots here -- street parking on Front St. and Baltimore St. as well as a lot to the east of the building.

I have attended 2weddings at 1840 Plaza. Worst food ever, drinks so weak it's crazy. Food served cold, over cooked dry chicken and beef, it's shameful how much people pay for such poor quality. Is never ever recommen 1840 Plaza
