This is a lovely space, just what you expect when going to see a top notch performance. I came to see the RISE community summer camp production of Shrek Jr. There is a parking garage right next to the theater and its accessible to all. The inside is beautiful, ornate and a nice size space. I was comfortable in my seat and good see the whole stage perfectly. This was and enjoyable experience and i will have no problems coming back for another show or event.

My first visit at the Hippodrome for The Lion King was wonderful. The Hippodrome has a dedicated garage and the entrance is on N. Paca. A bit tight at the entrance but once you clear the area parking spaces are fine. Ample signage to use Fayette elevators (purple) allow direct access to the theater. Access to N. Paca elevators (lime) and stairwells are open and well lit. Arrived very early and in consideration for the blustery evening, building access was opened however security screening did not start until 6:30pm. Outside food is not permitted, snacks and beverages are available for purchase at the bar area. 2nd level seating areas and couches for holding space until doors open. Once inside the view of the theater is beautiful. Usher attendants in my section were very friendly. Steps are steep and seating is tight. Seating at the balcony level was perfect, and I am glad we arrived well ahead of time. Ushers with lights were on standby for those who came well after the start of the show. I agree with others, it is disruptive for all when late comers have to be ushered in. If your seats are in the middle, the entire row has to stand to let you pass... I won't go into detail about the production but it was absolutely captivating from start to finish. The acoustics, the costumes, stage use, I mean everything was simply stunning. Reminiscent of my days of Annie, South Pacific, Miss Saigon, Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, and beloved Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables, this evening with my son was full of joy. He and I can't stop talking about Rafiki. ***One star taken off for the crass interaction at the merchandise area at the end of the evening and final exit from the garage. I'm not sure if these two employees work PRN here or on standard payroll at the Hippodrome but I felt they were very unprofessional. Yawning, rushing, and "yeah" and "don't know" responses with zero eye contact during my check out for merchandise was distasteful. It's 10:30pm and I get you're tired, perhaps customer service retrain is in order. I didn't ask for red-carpet or white glove service, but I'll remember for my future visit. The parking attendant standing at the exit gate dropping profanity bombs at the decibel level in a football stadium as it echoed through the garage, you startled my son who dozed off while waiting to exit. As others mentioned, dining around the theater is limited. Plan indeed especially if parking onsite works for you. Parking at the Baltimore Grand garage on N. Paca for the special event was $15 during my visit.

I've now been to the Hippodrome twice. First time to see Frozen and recently Come From Away. I love the performing arts and theaters in general. It's so great Baltimore has this theater for performances and it's a beautiful one too!

This beautiful theater is one of the only draws for us to come into this area of the city. We've had season tickets and have probably been to upwards of 15 shows at the Hippodrome by now. We go up to NYC Broadway theaters frequently and the Kennedy center and we always say that the Hippodrome has most of them beat in terms of decor and design (the theater itself- not the lobby which is fairly standard). I highly recommend finding a restaurant beforehand or eating at home because there will not be nearby options. They do offer popcorn/candy/alcohol inside. There is a parking garage, but be prepared for lonnnngggg lines to get out once the show is over. We typically try to get street parking to avoid the chaos. The seats tend to be a struggle for my 6' 2 husband as there is barely any leg room...but that is the case with most historic theaters. We ended up cancelling the season tickets because the most popular shows, like Les mis/Book of Mormon/Mama Mia, were not even included and you have to buy those tickets separately. And the less well-known shows that they have on the season ticket holder list weren't really good enough to hold our attention. All in all-- if a show is coming to the Hippodrome that you love, I recommend checking it out and forming your own opinion because this theater is truly a baltimore treasure.

Fourth show at this location, this visit we were seated in the right orchestra area-back in row Z- we had a great view, but I noticed the rows behind us seemed to be blocked by a column, definitely noting that for future (though their website does offer a theater view before buying tickets so we knew what our view looked like) Again, I love the ambiance of the theater- the gorgeous entry, the open areas to mingle, the friendly staff- I spent a good amount of time asking the ushers about other show experiences hearing recommendations- easy free street parking nearby- great night out

Great experience today with the show! The parking at the theater was amazing. Definitely what tipped the scales for the five star review! You literally park and walk in! Pretty easy to access just take your patience with you when you leave. All the attendants are very helpful! The way they had everything set up what super easy to navigate and easy to enjoy some pictures! The show was pretty cool! Easy parking plenty of restrooms very well taken care of! We will definitely be back

I was there to see The Lion King on stage and it was wonderful. The only suggestions I have is to try your best to get seats towards the middle because you won't be able to see the sides/ corners of the stage. Otherwise very nice theatre.

Took my grand to see Cirque's Twas the Night Before Christmas...she enjoyed the show (her 2nd Cirque) Venue is great. Parking was $12. I got there an hour early and had no issue finding covered parking in the garage. Elevator dumps straight into the theatre, so you don't have to be in the elements But there's street parking if you want to circle the block and hope to find an empty..and spot hero had some avail as well Outside was well lit, with police officers standing at the corner of the entrance, so seemingly safe. Opens an hour before show There's a couple of places on the block to grab a quick "fast food type" bite before or after. Entry early, we didn't experience a long line, entering nor at the concessions. Snacks are $4+. Candy/popcorn/chips. Sodas/water and alcohol drinks available and they let us take them into the show. But you must hold them...no drink slots on the armrest Plenty of places to sit in thewhile waiting for the theatre doors to open (30min before show) "Small" theatre, we were in the balcony and I feel still had a decent view. Bathrooms were nice, and they have a person directing elevator traffic to avoid pushing and shoving..I took the stairs..only a couple short flights As with any garage parking, took about 20minutes to file out along with everyone else, but people were kind (?christmas season?) and let folk alternate the lanes for a smooth departure I'll def return to the hippodrome

I had been waiting to see MJ live for a while and when the show finally came to town I purchased a ticket. I saw all of 15 minutes of the show because the seats are so uncomfortable and ridiculously close. I'm only 5'4 and my knees were pressed so tight to the seat in front of me. It was so uncomfortable and painful. I tried to readjust myself several times but there was nowhere for me legs to go. I had to apologize to the gentleman sitting next to me because I was invading his space to try and adjust my space. The chair pressed so far into my knees that I still felt the pain several hours after I left the dreaded seat. I will never see another shoe at this venue. I'll be traveling to DC or New York from now on.

I came here to see The Wiz during its run in Baltimore. I enjoyed the show, and I will definitely come back to see what other productions they offer. GLOWS: -The aesthetic is very classic. I enjoyed the historic features still present. -I sat pretty far back, but I could still see and enjoy the show. I was in orchestra. I'm not sure about the view from Mezzanine -Meeting the cast of the show afterwards was epic. The cast had a quick turn around and didn't take long at all to come out and greet the audience! -The signature drinks for the show at the bar was a nice touch. GROWS: -When I arrived there was a lot of chaos due to people getting tickets at will call and other folks trying to leave tickets for parties arriving at different times. -The power went out and the show started late. -They didnt have a good variety of snacks at concessions.
