Practical, comfortable hotel. Great hotel if you need a quiet place to work, are there for a conference, or are not planning on spending a lot of time in the hotel. Pros: -elaborate, aged architecture in the octagon -friendly employees -located in a safe area -affordable -convenient location -quiet -free continental breakfast -tea, coffee, and infused water stations set up throughout the day -large gym with cardio equipment, free weights, and squat racks -large windows -patio area -ample seating in common areas -comfortable, soft beds -clean rooms Cons: -small parking lot closest to the hotel, however, they also have a parking garage -we booked a room for three people, but there were only two towels in the room. They did quickly bring us another towel -the employees do not explain the amenities, except they do mention the breakfast start and end time -small offering at the breakfast (bagels, English muffins, bread, muffins, yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs, coffee, and tea) -large and difficult to navigate (particularly when trying to get to the fitness center) -no pool Other: -construction going on in certain areas -simple interior in the hotel and conference center (other than the octagon) Definitely would stay here again!

Very nice hotel I would have given a 5 star rating but the breakfast they had was only during the week the weekend is continental breakfast which was nice. The door to our room didn't work very well ended up open all night but we felt safe leaving in locked. The campus is Beautiful! Walk around the octagon read about the history look at the floor and hinges. The people are very nice rooms are clean! We would stay again.

I stayed here for a conference so this is for both the hotel and conference center. I'd give the conference center 4 stars and the hotel 2 stars, so it averages out to 3 and you can read whichever is more relevant to your needs :) I think it's a really nice conference center. The area is really beautiful, the facilities themselves (i.e. the conference rooms) are clean and well-appointed, the staff was great, and the food was excellent. I loved that they kept us well-supplied with delicious meals, snacks, drinks and caffeine throughout! The hotel left something to be desired. The staff was really nice and friendly and the rooms are clean, but they are very dorm-like in a lot of ways. Definitely good enough for staying at the conference though since I had no free time! :) Overall had a nice stay here and would recommend it, especially for a conference or meeting.

Okay. Let's go over "hotel" vs. "conference center". Let's start by noticing that this one is on the Johns Hopkins campus. It's there to support the university's teaching & research. It has facilities for meetings & short courses. Lots of people are coming from the local area (Exhibit A: large parking structure), but some need to overnight. When this one was built the standard accommodation on universities was the dorm room so by comparison to that, these rooms are palatial. But still, IT'S A CONFERENCE CENTER. Now sometimes universities will rent out unused rooms. Mainly they think of this as a community service because where else are you going to stay in Mt. Washington? Maybe they turn an extra buck or two but that's not why they are here. So before you book here for some inlaw's wedding banquet, set your expectations appropriately. & BTW, the village is a half mile walk on a paved trail. Very pleasant.

The staff was very polite, it's not a four or five-star hotel so understand that, and it is not priced like it is pretending to be. It can use some updating but I wouldn't hesitate to go again. The grounds are scenic and well kept, it is surrounded by a nice residential area, our room was clean, the TV was adequate and it had a small fridge. Parking was free and close by. We had a small balcony off our room with nice views of the Octagon building and the greenery. We did not eat there but just down the road, you have a Lil area where there is a Whole Foods, Starbucks, a wine store, a nice Pub, and some cool little restaurants. It is a 15 min drive to JHU, which served our purpose well. The website shows a very well equipped gym which I did not get a chance to use this trip. For us it was a very pleasant experience.

Stayed at the Mt Washington Conference Center Hotel for a night while in the area for meeting. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly and was checked in quickly. Things went down hill from there. Went up to my room and was greeted at the door by a guy who was already staying in that room. Headed back down to the lobby to advise them of the error. Once I get to the lobby there is no one manning the desk. I ring the bell, nothing. so I take a seat and wait. 25 minutes later the clerk finally walks off the elevator. I explain the situation to her and she assigns me another room. I head up to that room and the key card doesn't work. Back to the elevator and down to the lobby. The clerk reprograms the key card and I head back up to my second room. Open the door and walk into a room that isn't ready to be occupied. The beds are both stripped, no towels in the bathroom, etc. Turn around and head back down to the lobby. Again, no one at the desk. After another 10 or so minutes the night clerk comes in. I explain the situation to him and he assigns me to a third room. I head up to that room and finally have one I can actually stay in. Take out the confusion with the rooms and it's probably a 3 star rating. Jerk me around for an hour when all I want to do is go to sleep after a 3 hour drive down and it costs you 2 stars. On the bright side my company no longer uses Hotwire to book hotels.

Stayed here in April for a conference. My room was booked through the conference coordinator. I live in Virginia, but did not want to fight commuter traffic every day to go back and forth. Conference Monday - Friday. I checked in, all was good. Room decent, people pleasant. Checked out Friday, paid by bill (corporate card). No problem, right? WRONG! Later get Credit Card Bill and they charged an extra night, for 'early departure'. Really? My reservation was for Monday-Friday. Apparently they had me down as leaving on Saturday. Which, by the way they never mentioned upon Check-in or Check-out. And, by bill upon checkout, did not reflect an extra day stay! CHECK YOUR BILLS. This is pretty shady business dealings if you ask me and I will never stay here again and I will spread the word far and wide as well.

Needed a hotel room for one night and searched Hotwire for vacancies. Searched for 3.5 star hotels in the Baltimore area and received information for such a hotel near Johns Hopkins University. I purchased the offer and received the Mt. Washington Conference Center, which I immediately disliked upon viewing their website. Also, Hotwire sent a text requesting my first impression of the hotel of the two choices I selected the sad face. The first room I received, the carpet was well worn, the bed spread had many visible lumps, and the supposedly fitted white sheet was dirty tan and spoiled with hair. I immediately requested a different room. I received another room on the same floor with the same issues of very well worn carpet, bed spread with many visible lumps, and a discolored fitted white sheet. I slept on top of the flat sheet which looked much better than the fitted sheet. I was not happy with the second room but since I was only staying overnight, I dealt with the situation. The bathroom had an updated vanity but the tub was badly stained from ongoing use, as well as the toilet with a peeling seat. The staff is friendly and somewhat knowledgeable about the property. The Mt. Washington Conference Center needs a major renovation and not just select furnishings. Mt. Washington Conference Center is an old outdated hotel that should not rate higher than 2 stars. I am too frustrated with Hotwire and wish they would properly designate star ratings and operate using it.

This is a really quiet, calm location - hard to believe you only about 8 miles north of downtown Baltimore. Mount Washington is a nice little village. It's a bit of a hike down steep (and unlit) stairs down to the village from the hotel, but worth a walk around. The hotel itself is 80s era and has not been renovated in a very long time. Public areas are clean, but just old. The room itself had decent bedding but was again, just really old. Laminate everything, including bathroom counters. Grimey tile floor in the bathroom. No services available in the hotel - no dining at all. It mentioned free breakfast somewhere but I sure didn't see it and it wasn't mentioned by the staff. There are dining options down in the village, but not a ton of choices. Thanks for the flat panel LCD tv - could we actually get some HD signal to go with that? Broadcast channels (ABC, Fox, etc) didn't work at all the first night, then I was able to get NBC the next 2 nights - but that was it. Booked this on Hotwire as a 3.5 star hotel. Ridiculous. More like a 2.5 hotel -- and that's giving credit largely for the location. The 3 star hotel in the same Hotwire zone (University) is a much nicer property in a (busier but) better location for less $. Won't try this one again.
