Last two times I tried to book, they charged me but didn't let me use the car. I then had to book again and they charged me a second time. Since they overchadged me I couldn't extend and was then hit with a late fee. Customer service was no help. They basically robbed me.

Poorly maintained and way too expensive...the price for renting two hours is almost equal to renting a whole day in other car rental companies like enterprise or hertz

I have been a Zipcar member for a very long time and have had a great experience with the company and the people involved with my rentals. This experience was a total negative one. The van I rented was in terrible shape, pictures attached. Both sides bashed in, front and back had many dents. The back of the van was very dirty with the carpet coming up, making it difficult move furniture in and out. It was rolled up at the door so everything had to be lifted extra to get things in. The van was located in a parking lot with a card needed to enter. The Zip card did not work. I the pressed the service button several times without a response. When I contacted your customer service, I was told to "press the button". When I responded that it was useless, I was told I needed to go another location. I could not do that since I had make arrangements with movers. I had to pay a total of $16 to get in and out. I called when I picked up the van and asked if there was an Express Pass included and I was told yes. So I used express lanes, but was unsure if the fee was paid. I was subsequently told it was not included. if I had know this I could have had my own Express Pass device with me. I am also concerned about the extra mileage charge. Again when I called with questions about this van I was told extra mileage would only apply if I had the van beyond my turn in date. This was a problem filled trip, very unlike all my other experiences with Zipcar. I am not asking for any reimbursement for the charge at your pick up location, but am concerned about the extra charges and the incorrect information when I contacted you. Mike

The concept is great and the gas card is the saving grace though this company has constant issues and horrible customer service policies. I've used this as a last resort many times and when a car is in good condition it's great but so many cars are filthy inside, damaged to the point of vandalism, many have had mechanical problems, some weren't even at the location or were inoperable. If you ever do book a car make sure you give yourself at least 2 hours of potential troubleshooting or customer support time since it's not uncommon to need to be reassigned a new vehicle if available. Not to mention the next vehicle may have the same issue. Even though we submit images at the end of every ride they don't know the condition or do any checks or repairs on their fleet. Their customer service is at times disrespectful in their apathy and sometimes annoyance at the issues presented. They waste time and state they'll do things only to fall through because of "not notating" crucial details even when requested to do exactly that. I wish I could upload pictures to paint my point but at least in Baltimore they're god awful and don't even offer any courtesy or compensation down to direct expenses coming out of pocket for their incompetence. The gas card makes them a necessary evil at times but TREAD WITH CAUTION!

I've been a zipcar member for over 5 yrs and they have become complete trash!!!! one two occasions have they taken about $160 from me outside of the booking charges. on 9/25 I rented a car. trip total $71+. I see they made two other transactions on my card. one for $81 another for $89. Luckily I use a prepaid card. I needed to extent my trip and of course I am not using another card. I called zip car because I refuse to pay the late fee, and their solution was to extend my trip and charge me later. To later be hit with a cleaning fee. (How convenient) the extention should have been complementary considering they have taken a large sum of money with no explanation. I decided to just pay the extension and cleaning fee for them to take another $81 and $89. Called customer service and they hung up on me!!!

There lack of customer service is horrible. If you have a problem, calling their non- customer service line is nothing but a headache. Their lack of sense of urgency to resolve problems makes it clear they could care less about their customers. No one has a clue. Pathetic. Then the best they can say is they're going to escalate the proble and it will take 2-3 days? Absolutely garbage customer service. Find somewhere else to get a car. ZIP CAR IS CLUELESS!

Zip car went in to my account several times and also closed my account because of them messing up my reservatio they gave me a car that was dented and dirty and no gas they said a manager would call me and never did don't go to them they are bad for business and they will keep charging your card I'm still waiting on a manager to call lol

I have the worst experience of my life in regards to renting a car! I took an Uber to the first vehicle( grey Mazda SUV) IT WAS DISGUSTING, SMELLED LIKE SMOKE, AND HAD MAJOR BODY DAMAGE. I spoke with the representative to switch me to another car. I had to wait in the cold for another uber. I get to the next car, it too is disgusting, their once again is a smoke smell, stains on the inside, and body damage (less body damage than the the first). Pictures are attached

i agree with other sentiments here. Zipcar had gone way down hill. don't sign with them. Horrible customer service, cars are filthy. Also unreliable as cars are not there when reserved and they don't tell you.

Before even writing my post, I noticed that someone already complained about the same EXCESSIVE FEES!!! I'm and Uber driver, and unfortunately, I needed zipcar until my car is fixed. Using zipcar as an Uber Driver, to extend the vehicle another 24 hours cost (approx.$100) plus $75 dollar deposit. Simple put, I need to make a minimum of 175 every day before I can reserve a vehicle. Fast forward, I thought I resolved this issue by booking for 3 days at a time. Boy oh boy was I wrong. Zipcar allowed me to book another vehicle 2 hours away, but once I arrived to pick it up, the app asked me to pay 18 dollars over due for tolls. The money to cover the 18 dollars had been in my account for over a week. When I tried to pay the 18 dollars, zipcar charged my card 6 dollars for only 1 toll + a 75 dollar deposit. This left a 12 dollar balance owed to zipcar for the remaining tolls, before I could enter the vehicle I'd arrived to pick up. I now only had 15 dollars left on my card on file that they would accept. I had to cancel the reservation because they wanted an additional 75 dollar deposit plus 12 dollar balance. Customer service were all from another country, and seemed to take pleasure in hearing an American stress over a rental vehicle. They said they're Supervisors hadn't gotten to work yet, and it was 11:30 am East coast time. Lastly, UBER DRIVERS BEWARE!!! Not all zipcars, or RENTAL VEHICLES you can reserve in Maryland have a maryland, or virginia state inspection. If the vehicle you reserve doesn't have this, you will NOT be able to pick up passengers In the state of Maryland, and will only be able to do Uber Eats. If you do Uber, and live in another state, please confirm this detail before spending considerably for a rental car. For context, I'm an Uber drive whose completed over 20,000 trips, and born firsthand witness to the inhumane way platforms like zipcar and Uber treat the very people upon which they're livelihoods depend...MY words today are a first step to get justice for what they have done, and are doing to us
