Gene's Flatbread is hands down my favorite lunch spot in Boston. All the food there is amazing and my favorites are Xi'an cold noodles and the cumin lamb noodles.

As a spicy food lover, something I especially like about Gene's is that they don't tone down the heat. Their extra spicy dishes are some of the hottest food I've found at any restaurant in the Boston area. And if you don't like spicy food then I recommend the pork flatbread instead, which is made with a sweet five spice blend instead!

A hole-in-the-wall that gives hole-in-the-walls a bad name - the space is falling apart, it's just barely clean, the service is disinterested. The famed hand-pulled noodles with spicy cumin lamb have good flavor, but the noodles are so thick and chewy they're bordering on unpleasant and undercooked.

I went to Gene’s Flatbread based on recommendations and reviews and I was severely disappointed, especially as someone who loves hand torn noodles. I got the cumin lamb hand torn noodles and it was mostly a bowl of carrots with a small amount of noodles and greasy lamb that lacked flavor and heat for being so called spicy. I also got the lamb flatbread and that was nothing, but a pile of grease with yet again no flavor. Save your money and try other spots. The place felt a bit dirty as well.
