It's neither amazing nor horrible. I e read all the reviews, and while it is outdated, it was clean. They do have things they need to update but it is 25 years old. I did notice a few iffy spots but for the most part, it was a quick stay for me and the bed was clean, the shower was clean and the ac/heat worked. I can't ask for more. I didn't try the breakfast, mainly because I didn't want to walk across the street to get to it.

Booked this place last December when I planned my spring trip to Detroit as it was reasonably priced and in a good central location. We had a late check in due to delayed flights but Kim, the night desk clerk was very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. Our stay was very quiet considering how packed it was. Hallway was very quiet but wreaked of marijuana at times and hot as there's no AC or it was turned off. Parking can be hard to find late evening or at night but there are some spots behind a couple of the buildings. There are 3 to 4 separate buildings and one is connected to the main lobby so not sure if that one was noisy or not. As for the suite, it was fairly clean and comfortable with the exception of a couple of splash marks on the bathroom and living room walls and an older stove that appeared to have semi dirty burners. Bed was nice and comfy, with pillows on the fluffier side. Not sure why Marriott designs TownePlace Suites like they do, but closet was across from the bathroom rather than in the bedroom. Sofa was hard and made of an itchy but durable material (albeit to last) as well as the ottoman. Breakfast was terrible! I was expecting a buffet like some of the other TownePlace Suites I have stayed at, but they had breakfast muffin sandwiches and a side such as potatoes or waffles in addition to cold cereal and oatmeal. yogurt, bagels, bread, and I did not see any fruit available. As a matter of fact, I got food poisoning with their egg and sausage muffin sandwiches on the first day (I tossed the sausage as I do not care for it) as I had dry heaves. They weren't warm but I had seen the employee putting them in the warmer so perhaps they had been sitting out defrosting for a while. Laundry room available on the 2nd fl of each building and they are coin operated (2.00 per load) for both the washer and dryer. Units seemed to be fairly new and in good working condition. Laundry supplies are available for purchase in the sundries area of the lobby (I brought my own laundry pods and Downy beads). As for value, I feel it could be slightly less expensive considering the cons that we experienced, but I did have a 10% cash back offer via my credit card (up to 55.00 max) and cash back on everyday purchases in the amount of 50.00 so that made the price more appealing. I'd like to visit Detroit again some day as I really enjoyed it and not opposed to staying at this place again (& area); however, I would like to stay at one of the other surrounding hotels to see how they fare in comparison.

Stayed here as recommended by a friend when we came out to attend a Lions football game. The Front Desk staff is excellent, knowledgeable of the area and gave great advice on where to order food from...but that's about it. They have renovated part of the rooms, the living room...not sure why they stopped. The kitchen was adequate, has a older stove, full size fridge, and even a dishwasher..the bathroom might have been renovated but the shower still backed up when you took a shower. And when we checked in, there was no body soap in the container. The hotel is located about 20 mins from downtown w/ no traffic. It's next to a Walmart if you need anything...but there aren't any other restaurants within walking distance WHEN ITS COLD AND SNOWING...otherwise there is a bagel spot about 15 mins walking across the main road.... I wish I could give them a better rating but the blanket was dirty, the breakfast was terrible (pre made fried eggs, sausage, boiled eggs, bagel, English muffin, ceral, yogurt) I thought it had fresh options like waffles and other meat (for those who don't eat pork).... Oh well....it was a one time trip. Kim the manager was great...you can tell she cares about her property....

We were very disappointed in our stay. We checked in for 3 nights on June 13th, 2025. The hallways smelled like stale marijuana, but the room smelled worse. I would describe the smell as a blend of stale marijuana, body odor, human fluids, and mold. We had the front desk switch our room. The new room was slightly better, but still smelled bad. My son got a headache and I started to feel nauseous. We stayed one night and left the next morning. Marriott should really look into this location. It does not meet the standards of the brand. In fairness to the hotel. The front desk employee was very nice and attempted to resolve our issue.

The suites are so cramped and these beds are not queen size and the lampshade is unscrewed it smells like mystery meat and most of the stuff is outdated and breakfast options suck

1AM - discovered a gross stain (looks bloody?) on the edge of my comforter. Messaged hotel via Marriott Bonvoy app. Decided to just deal with it and avoid that edge of the bed because it's late, and I'm tired. 648AM - Hotel messages back and confirms bedding will be changed. 3PM - Arrive back at room after all day meeting. No bedding changed. 330PM - Called front desk. Most of housekeeping is gone for the day, but someone from housekeeping will deliver a replacement comforter. No one ever came. I jumped into meetings for 4 hours and when finally done, I was tired, and it's raining outside. I was just too exhausted to walk to different buildings. Although a minor issue overall, I'd hate to see how this hotel handles emergencies. I started this hotel with a two star rating since it's dingy and old. Remodeling is severely needed to add space to the breakfast area. And speaking of breakfast, it's pretty meager with only a Jimmy Dean's breakfast sandwich, packaged Belgian waffle, oatmeal, cereal, etc. There's no hot eggs, bread (just bagels), or bacon/sausage. I think I'm better off staying at the Allen Park Hampton Inn if I'm to choose something outside of downtown due to high prices. This location is about 3 miles from the freeway, but I'm trying to re-earn Marriott platinum status. I don't recommend! AAA Room Rate $130 x 2 nights Taxes $27.30 Total $287.30

All I can remember is the hallways smelling of stale smoke, ganja, and Swisher Sweets; my allergies are killing me just thinking about it! The dogs barking, the late night door banging, or the groundskeeper obviously staring in my room for a ridiculously prolonged amount of time, Calgon take me away!!! Lol I stayed here for two long heats and I wouldn't do it again. Otherwise, for appearances sake, it looks like any other TownePlace suites, except the kitchens are actually a little bigger, albeit worse for the wear. And everyone was very friendly and helpful and nice - except the groundskeeper! Lol

Stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks while becoming familiarized with Michigan. Pros: Lily the receptionist is truly an angel. She is kind, friendly, and easy going. She goes above and beyond to welcome you each time you pass the desk not just when you first check in. The room has plenty of storage and is situated in a way that it does feel like there is separation between the living and bedroom area even though it is all open. Laundry is easy to access and use if you need it. It's about 5 bucks a load if you also buy single use soap from them and they provide quarters for you at the desk. Location is near many conveniences like Walmart (if you want to stock the fridge) as well as quite a few food options. The shower pressure is great and relaxing. Parking is very easy to access. Breakfast is offered daily and the offerings change. Coffee is offered all day. They clean the main areas thoroughly and regularly. Cons: It can be loud. Every week, especially on Fridays, it seemed like the parking lot would become a full on party with loud music, talking, and even singing outside. This went on until way past 10pm. The one night I called to ask if there was an enforcement of quiet time I was told yes and that quiet time started at 10pm but the noise did not stop until way past 11. While it is clean, the rooms do need some TLC and the mismatched linens, incomplete dishwater/silverware offerings do make it feel like the hotel is struggling a bit. While I was able to do everything I needed to do and felt safe in the hotel, I would have preferred it if the room was in nicer shape and it would be wonderful if security would let all guests know that being loud in the common areas is not allowed. Letting the noise levels go on the way they did so regularly made it feel like an apartment instead of a hotel.

Our room smells like smoke. It is awful. Housekeeping often does not come on assigned days. We paid in advance and have asked for help to neutralize the smell several times but they have done nothing. Avoid this hotel. It is not at all consistent with the Marriott brand. If you hate the smell of smoke stay away.

This hotel is gross. The kitchen counters are dirty the kitchen floor is so dirty and sticky that my shoes are sticking to the floor. The hallway also reads of pot. I would not recommend this hotel. Don't stay here
