Checked in for four nights to explore Detroit. Selected this Marriott because of the safe & central location. We were in room 5107 on the 51st floor with a view of the Detroit River and Canada. The room was about 300 ft.², minimalist and very dated. We didn't have bathrobes, conditioner, cotton balls, Q-tips, magnifying mirror.... The king size bed was comfortable, it was quiet, water was hot & water pressure was good. The shower curtain didn't keep the water inside. There weren't towel bars or hooks to hang up our used towels, the bathroom was so wet; we used our 2 bath towels to prevent slips. The room was dark with the lamps on. There was no vent in the bathroom and it got very smelly & steamy . There was wall to wall carpeting and I didn't stop sneezing . There were inconveniences in this small expensive hotel room, after phone calls most were addressed. This 70 story hotel has a food hall on the first floor and check-in was on the third. The fitness center is on the 40th floor with lots of cardio machines and free weights. The concierge lounge with a complimentary bufbreakfast, hors d'oeuvres and snacks is on the 56th floor. Carla welcomed us in the evening and pointed out the vegetarian and other entrées as well as drinks and snacks here. Jackie was personable and friendly at breakfast. The coffee, juices. Cereals, muffins, fruit, eggs, bacon, and sausage were a nice way to start the day. The first floor was the General Motors exhibit, just fascinating! The people movers were connected to the hotel .

I was upgraded to a river view room on the 46th floor thanks to my status which also gave me access to the concierge lounge. The hotel is convenient to downtown Detroit, sitting right next to the entrance to the Windsor Tunnel. The Peoplemover goes through the lobby which gives you access to a good amount of downtown without having to walk too far. Or you can walk two blocks to the light rail. My room was clean, quiet and comfortable. I was here for five nights (Sunday to Friday) and kept the "do not disturb" sign on the door for all but one night. They honored the sign and the one time they reset the room very nicely. Clean, and excellent. My complaint is the elevator situation. It is nice that they have separate banks of elevators for the lower and upper floors but they had at least two of them out of service making for long waits and, when the elevator car did arrive, a very crowded ride. This is a great location for a hotel. Also we found the staff here to be very helpful especially Carla and Jackie in the Concierge Lounge. They really try to make your stay a rewarding experience. If there was an issue, the staff at this hotel addressed it in a timely manner. The hotel is part of the Renaissance center complex and it is a short walk to the people mover. The exhibit of GM cars is in this complex and you don't have to go outdoors from the hotel. The room and Hotel however looks dated. We stayed in room 5107 which was kind of small with not much storage room and space for our things.The bathroom was adequate, nothing special. The gym has quite a few things there's an area to stretch, machines, elliptical, and treadmills. The issue is like the rest of the hotel. It is datYou can get a good workout here though despite that the ventilation was not adequate.

This hotel like many will let you order some things but not other things- I wanted room service- chocolate cake and ice cream - the cake I could order but the ice cream I had to go down to restaurant- I know this is petty and small , however how insane is it Never going to stay at this place again

Arlissa the custodian for the gym on the day that I went was AMAZING at keeping the facilities clean and sanitized! I travel often for work and she was wiping down every piece of equipment and was very friendly to the gym goers in the process giving them cold waters and towels.

I stayed at the Marriott for a conference. When I entered in the lobby and was greeted by front desk staff. The lobby and bar is massive. The rooms are roomy and clean. The hotel is a couple of blocks away from the convention center and downtown. The one cafe I are at had a bomb breakfast sandwich. They come and clean your room everyday. A very pleasant stay.

I've stayed in several different hotels in the Downtown area and The Renaissance will never receive our business again. Upon arriving to our room, it was visibly dirty. The floors had trash and food particles on it and tables surfaces crumbs and beverage marks. The bathroom appeared to have been partially cleaned as well, leaving the counter and shower visibly dirty. Additionally, the thermostat read 82 degrees, it was sweltering in our room. The hallway was also ridiculously hot. We inquired with the front desk about moving rooms, we were informed that they were completely full that evening but that they would send someone to clean the room. We left for dinner, a concert, and drinks after and when we arrived back to our room it was still dirty, no one had been to address our issues. Disgusting, never again.

All staff was friendly and helpful. Room was very clean with a superb view of the Ambassador Bridge. There is no pool but the (skywalk connected) Courtyard hotel has a pool. Haven't been here since I was a child, it was very nice to walk around the atrium and see the cars just like 30 years ago. The RenCen has always been an iconic staple, glad to share it with my family in 2025.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Elevators were a joke and getting around the hotel for restaurants or parking was terrible. Would never stay there again.

When I tell you to skip this place.... skip. At $200 plus a night I have had better stay at motels. The room was not clean on arrival. There was an empty bottle of lube at the foot of the bed and stuff all over the floor. There was dust and finger prints.
