Cool spot in the fabulous Book Tower building for a quicker bite. It does feel like one of those small Japanese bars you could just find and wander into while out and about. Smaller food menu of elevated fusion bar bites. We tried the yaki soba (billed as spicy and actually is pretty spicy!), the wagyu dogs (a little extra umami with the dried seaweed flakes), the wagyu sliders (yummy! large chunk of fresh heirloom tomato adds to this one), and the chicken katsu sandwich. Small portions but the kind of food that will fill you up! Also tried their special yuzu colada cocktail served in a fish glass. Presentation 10/10. Light and refreshing, but not the most standout cocktail in my opinion.

Music is not at all to my preference. lol Sushi was VERY good. I did not, however, expect individual servings. I was highly disappointed that they ran out of wings.

This is a truly awesome Japanese styled bar/gastropub with a wide assortment of alcoholic beverages and also Japanese fusion food/snacks like wagyu hot dogs and sliders, yakisoba, spam musubi, etc. Great beers and service - and the inner ambiance is super cool, with adult anime sci-fi/horror classic Wicked City playing in the TV in back plus Vinland Saga playing on another TV. Highly recommended!

I was looking for some happy hour spots in the area and Sakazuki popped up on my radar. From what I read online, it kind of sounded like a Japanese-themed speakeasy that served food and had a nice happy hour menu. I'm rounding up from 3.5 stars because it was good, but not really as amazing as I was hoping. The bartender was super friendly, gave us an overview of the menu, and let us know that we could ask them to make anything and they'd surprise us with a drink. The menu consists of plenty of Japanese options for drinks, specialty cocktails, and some snacks. The vibe inside is cool with retro photos and decor. I ordered the Hello, Kat cocktail: blanco tequila, midori,lime juice, vanilla, matcha, and Nate got the supa sho (asahi super dry beer + shot shochu). I really liked my drink - it was refreshing and a bit sour, slightly sweet. For food I was excited to try the spam musubi and tamago sando to compare it to the sandwiches we had in Tokyo. Unfortunately, they were out of the tamago sando so we got the sushi dog instead. The sushi dog was really interesting - the "bun" was deep fried California rolls, and it had a bunch of pickled veggies on it. The veggies were just long strips of crunchy veg which made it pretty hard to eat, but I liked the idea. The spam musubi was good, but the spam was pretty dry. I love the concept of this spot and the fact that they have good deals for happy hour. I'd probably come back but order some different food items next time.

My husband and I had a little staycation downtown for my birthday a couple of months ago and stayed in the Book Tower's hotel. Researching the hotel we found that we had more than a few options for drinking and dining right in the building which was very convenient considering it was quite cold outside that weekend. Sakazuki in particular grabbed my attention. The description on their website reads, "Sakazuki is a modern Japanese pub as one would attend on the way to the train station or to a baseball game in Tokyo...Cocktails here draw inspiration from Japanese pop-culture, nightlife, and anime. A little silly, and sure to make you smile, the colors are vibrant, sometimes even fluorescent like a neon sign in a Tokyo alley." Uhm, excuse me? Everything about that sounds delightful. I made sure it was to be our first stop upon check-in! Alas, my husband and I both had to work late though we hoped we'd find some place could hook us up with a late dinner. I saw that Sakasuki was open later than most and hoped that included the kitchen as well. Now, their menu isn't huge but it did look VERY appealing for late night bites. It's mostly snack food/street food options like Katsu Sando, wagyu hot dogs and hamburgers and an ekiben bento box (bento box found mostly on trains or at train stations). Alas, we arrived about a half hour after the kitchen had closed so no food (womp womp), but it was such a nice chill place we decided to stay and have a cocktail first, toasting the weekend with a yuzu colada, served in a cute fish glass. Cocktail was great, the bartender was really nice, and nerded out with my husband about all their whiskey and sake options. I'd definitely make sure to return here for a cocktail, and take out of town friends here to boot. Though next time I'd make sure we get there early enough to try one of those sandos! Ps--shout out to the large number of Queen photos and posters on the wall. Always appreciate toasting a special occasion with Freddie Mercury.

Could be cool- if the bartender didn't make us feel like the biggest inconvenience for walking in. Came in with a group of six on a 1/3 full establishment. We had hoped to come in and grab a drink at the bar but the bartender was just shy of nonverbal replying with grunts, nods and glances. Instantly, our first thought was to apologize for coming in.... For reference, this was about 5:30 on a Saturday. Until I know there is new staffing, I won't be back.

Pretty underwhelmed. I feel like this place is combined with a different restaurant and there still aren't any good food options. Portions are small, and when I asked for a good snack, I was suggested a bento box.

We have been wanting to check out this new location since it opened. We had a night planned consisting of drinks up here at Sakazuki then dinner downstairs. We had no idea what an amazing night we had in store. We got off work a little early and arrived just as they were opening. There was a lot of prep going into opening. There was a very fun vibe about the place. There was a lot of unique art work and bright red accents.. The bar staff split their time between four locations. All are within Book Tower. We grabbed a table and looked over the menu. He decided on Sake and I chose the Toki Koshu. They had light snacks to choose from, however, we chose to hold off because we wanted an appetite for dinner. We had no idea that going downstairs would be even more amazing! Definitely recommend this experience!

Book tower has newly opened a bunch of restaurants and bars. This small Japanese pub is a perfect little spot to start or finish a night - offering yummy light snacks, delicious balanced fancy cocktails and a long list of sake! It has a very cool low-key vibe that actually did remind me of my time in Tokyo. Considering they have only been open for a month or so, the bar tenders knew what they were doing. Super friendly service and with loads of knowledge about the different menu items. I'm very excited to have another rad spot to sneak into when downtown.
