This is a great lounge for you to hang out with friends and party as grown people. Very often grown folks don't have an environment that they can feel comfortable enough to let their hair down. This is one of the greatest environments in the city. You can enjoy the music. The drinks are great and the dancing is pretty good too. Everybody has a good time here and I came for a birthday party for a good friend and enjoyed every moment and can't wait to go back. The best part was the bartender did not charge extra to make your drink the way that you wanted it because she believed in good service.

I attended a Cigar and Sundresses event had here. There was a great crowd there. The music enhanced the vibe of the atmosphere. The cigar selection was plentiful with a great variety. The cocktails had was delicious. We did not order any food so I'd like to go back on another occasion to try it.

Where do I start... This place was absolutely the BEST!!! This was my 1st time visiting a "Drinking Den" and they did not disappoint with my experience. My whole soul was on ice that night. The ambiance takes you as soon as you walk on the property with the best patio lounging in the city. Very Good ViBe with grown folks Energy. The drinks are well made and in nice glasses. The Food...The Food. The Food... Those wings were AMAZING (lick your fingers good). I wish I could find wings in LA like that. The DJ had that good music flowing. I danced a little, talked a little, sung a little, and did a little cha cha too. If you're in the area and looking for the perfect spot with just enough of EVERYTHING. So... Soul on Ice... I don't usually write essays for my reviews but there's important parts you need to know before you hit this place up. Went with a few buddies of mine to check this place out on a Friday while searching for a birthday party venue. For those who come to this place thinking "Oh it's on Livernois, great!" just understand this is Livernois and Joy road... not Livernois and Seven Mile... this is a little oasis of a bar in the straight up hood. And the owner deserves kudos for sure. I hope the place inspires other building owners to do something with their properties. That said, you don't have to get valet parking but ya probably wanna get valet parking. Thats $10 which you get validated inside by your server. Before walking inside we're searched by security to which my buddy says "What type of place are we at that we gotta get searched before we go inside a restaurant?" The bouncer replies "Detroit." I got my laugh of the week out of this reply but it's a damn shame to be patted down before going in nice place like this. The inside is beautiful. Very nice for a black owned establishment. Hate to say it like that but we know there's differences between a "nice" black owned establishment and a "nice" white owned establishment... there's money levels to this. A $3 coat check is offered but it's optional. There's a DJ space in the middle of the place so looks like they'll have resident DJs, no dance floor though. Finally, the important part: food and drink. Both menus are light. Was not really impressed with either menu. We had to wait because the kitchen didn't open until 6pm. That blew my mind. Your kitchen is supposed to open when the bar opens... Now if you want to CLOSE the kitchen before the restaurant closes okay but this is the first time I've ever heard of a place waiting to serve food while customers are sitting there starving. So we smashed the hell out of two bowls of spicy peanut mix waiting for food. We get food and I selected the sweet potato waffle with tenders (or so I thought) and my buddies had turkey burgers which the waitress recommended. The waitress brings my food out and I get tenders and waffle fries. I ask where my sweet potato waffle is and she says "oh let me see how I put it in." Not sure how she got this wrong I literally pointed to it on the menu for her. But she offers to fix, it's no problem. She comes back out with sweet potato fries... I start to wonder am I on shrooms cause I swore I said sweet potato waffle, my friends assure me I did as well. The waitress says the fries are on her as if to say "you ain't getting nothing else so shut up and enjoy this shit you didn't ask for." The sweet potato fries were stuck together in two big clumps. Tenders were freezer isle quality... not fresh. Waffle fries were good. My friends picked through their turkey burgers but didn't finish. They were big burgers though. The drink I had, Soul on Ice, was well made. The bill for three drinks was $50 including tip. Not sure what it was for food, the homie paid, but if it was more than free... it was too expensive. Our waitress never asked us if we needed to validate our valet so we had to come back inside to pay for valet. I went back out and waited in the freezing cold as the valet pulled my car (which was right in front of me in the parking lot) out onto the street. I could have walked to my car and got in myself in the time it took for the valet guy to get my ticket. None of it made a whole lotta sense to me. Again... sorry for the essay, but I think the bottom line here is please, come support this place yes. BUT don't let your eyes deceive you and come here thinking you're about to get fine dining. The food is bad bad bar food and doesn't match the look of the place. Get your drinks here pre dinner or for a night cap.

Highly recommended. Salmon croquette is what I ordered, delicious ! Staff friendly, ambiance exceptional, music great, enjoyed my night with my girls. Special shout out to bartender Nikki she provided TOP TIER SERVICE. Definitely returning soon.

Recently, I went to Soul On Ice and enjoyed myself immensely for a private party. The valet service was perfect. The food and drinks were excellent. I appreciated security looking in my purse and frisking to ensure safety. Yes, the location is Livernois/Joy, but "WE" have allowed our neighborhoods to deteriorate. I commend the owner who stepped out on faith, believing that this is a start to revitalize this community. Soul on Ice is for the mature crowd. We need more investors to believe in the revitalization of Detroit. Please support Soul On Ice!

Finally had a chance to check out Soul on Ice for drinks recently. We found seats without much trouble. Service was excellent. A couple of servers came by to make sure we were taken care of and to answer any questions. The music was great and the decor was comfortable and contemporary with an art deco flair.

The DJ and ambiance was nice. The drinks were tasty. Ther service was SLOW. Like slow is an understatement. I would say the food was good but I didn't recieve everything I was suppose to reieve on my plate. When I mentioned to the waitress they forgot the coleslaw that was suppose to go with my shrimp, she told me she would bring it, it never came! Boxes for my food came, the check came, my second drink which I drank while waiting came! But that coleslaw never made it! When I asked for it the third time I was told they were making it. I guess the cabbage had to grow bc I never got it. This was my first time coming to this establishment, and although I liked the vibe the DJ set, probably my last. There was limited seating bc everything was reserved. The manager was nice enough to give us someone's seating bc we were ordering food but it literally was 30mins before our order was even taken and another 30-40mins when food appeared, which didn't contain all that it was suppose to. Let's just say that after all the instagram hype I was expecting a more fulfilling experience. PS check your reciept, tips are automatically included. I didn't realize this until after I paid and saw actually added on an additional tip which truly was not deserved. Long story short, I came and after my experience I had, not motivated to come back.
