We stopped by on a recent Saturday a couple hours before an MSU basketball game. Honestly I haven't been to Harpers in 25+ years since college and I had to laugh at all the bad reviews, because they pretty much detailed the exact service we experienced. We only stopped because some of the other places such as HopCat & ElAz were packed. Harpers was only about 1/4 full which was surprising before a weekend game. We were seated right away but there was one delay (and excuse) after another as to taking so long to get drinks & the order placed. 25% full was apparently an unexpected rush because we kept hearing how shorthanded they were. Anyway, I did post an extra star due to the host keeping us informed and taking the initial order, just to keep things moving. During our stay the table next to us had two groups back to back just get up & leave due to the crappy service. The food itself was good and no complaints there, but it's obvious that management has had no clue for quite some time on how to give proper service. Yes, it is a college town bar/brew pub but that's no excuse for such mis-management. We were lucky that we had an extra 30 minutes to spare or else we would also most likely had picked up early and left. There's just too many decent places in the downtown E/L area that do take care of customers and if you're looking to get proper service it would be best to try those other options.

This place is genuinely a big joke. Halloween night if you're lucky enough to secure a table; busser's will come and take full drinks off your table and when you confront them about it they'll shrug their shoulders and say it's not their problem. This happened multiple times through out the night but after the 3rd time enough was enough. Bringing it to a higher authority's attention; they say "there's no proof" and won't do anything about it. Also take into consideration their drinks are already over priced. No toilet paper ever restocked in the bathrooms as well. Insane cover charge for poor service. I highly recommend going anywhere else.

This was by far the worst bar i've ever been to. Every member of staff whether it was a bartender, busser, or even security are exceptionally rude and disrespectful. Had drinks taken right out of my hand multiple times. When confronting the busser/bartenders, they dismiss it like it never happened. Zero sight of any management around that place. Not to mention, all of the workers barely seem over the age of 20. No toilet paper in bathrooms, disgusting sticky floors and chairs, over priced drinks/shots, unacceptable management, the list goes on and on. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your time at this place unless you want to be disrespected and have things stolen from you.

This place sucks. Overpriced. Never got the food, but it probably terrible. Walked through the kitchen a bunch of times when going out. Looks nasty. Service isn't to bad. Workers kinda mean sometimes. Vibe get bad to. People Always trying to fight.

I am a consistent customer here, but after tonight I will never go back. The service was horrible as well as the security they claim to have. The entire night I felt as if I would be trampled. I told security about a guy who threatened to punch me and his exact location and description but said they could do nothing. As a women I feel very unsafe here.

This place was disgusting absolutely gross. The service is awful and there was a hair in my friends food and something gross in the drink. My friend who wasn't let in was completely over the age of 21 and they took the ID without any reason and argued for it back. You can't just take someone's real ID for no reason. The ice is very gross too I really would think a place like this would be closed down already

Favorite college bar in the area. I've never had their food, and I've never been before 9pm so can't testify to that, but Many good mems and patchy mems from the heavy poured drinks lol. If you want a loud, fun, party hearty night out, go to Harper's. Quick service, good vibes. 5/5

Walked in at 7 Pm on a Wednesday. 10 staff members standing around the bar. Greeted by none of them. Walked to the patio. Sat down. Weird vibes. No one ever came to serve us. We left.

Ordered 2 margaritas for the $4 special. Came out $19.20 total. When I asked the bar tender why it was so expensive she said, "I had to specify I wanted the special." Then she quickly grabbed the receipt and moved on. Never had this happen to me at the Riv, Dublin, PT's, Mash, Lou Has, Tin Can, The Avenue, Landshark, or Rick's. For the sake of your wallets go to Meijer and get the ingredients for a margarita instead.
