I ordered the catfish dinner along with the catfish steak. Had it cooked to order. For starters the breading for the catfish nuggets was awful. The nuggets were over cooked. And last but not least I got really ill after eating and had a severe case of diarrhea. The only thing good about this place was the customer service

Friend of mine put me on to this place. I ordered the 5 piece jumbo shrimp, and Chicken wing dinner. Everything was fresh and cooked to order. The jumbo shrimp were actually JUMBO shrimp, HUGE & delicious!! The chicken was seasoned properly and fried crispy. Next time I'll be ordering the fish--they have many different types of fresh fish available. Not super expensive, given the portion size... definitely a new "favorite spot"!! No photos available because the food was too good!

During my Coronavirus lock down I've decided to try a local spot whenever I don't feel like cooking. Ok so maybe I don't ever feel like cooking =) I had a taste for beer battered fish but couldn't find it so catfish nuggets was next up. Their fish and chips are a pretty decent size. This is certainly a good value for the money spent. My con is taste. I just need some seasoning on this fish. Maybe a dash of salt in the fries. Having to take my greasy bag of food to the kitchen to add dashes of seasoning is not what I paid for. On a positive... this dessert was killer. The banana love is an interesting concept. Seems like a whipped banana pudding used on top of yellow cake. Complete with a vanilla wafer on top. This is absolutely amazing.

On my last handful of trips downtown, I have noticed their sign advertising gumbolaya. Yep, a gumbo/jambalaya collab. It's not cheap ($15+ for a quart), but it's good! The service was also nice and friendly and the place is immaculate. I plan to go back to try the hush puppies and crab cakes. Wish they sold cornbread.

The shrimp are a good size, and the batter isn't too thick. They have a variety of fish, and you can choose to buy it fresh or have them prepare it.

U Buy We Fry! Passed this place a thousand times and have always wanted to stop and.... ...today was the day! There are a couple of U Buy We Fry places in Detroit but this one seems to be the crown royal; always busy with it's tropical decor and neon lights. As you enter the joint, the fish smell hits you. The place is a huge, open space with a counter and frier in the back. There are couple of seats and pictures of famous people line the wall which include P Ditty with J Lo, Donald Trump, and some Fox 2 New Reporter. As for the fish, they offer a huge variety including whiting, orange roughy, ocean and lake perch, bull dog (carp), catfish, shrimp, rock bass, and tilapia. The options are fish n' chips or sandwiches. Depending on the fish they may freshy filet it for you. I decided on the steak of fried fish and selected orange roughy. At 6.79 for fish and chips - it seemed like a steal. The taste was surprisingly good! Nice crisp batter and fresh fish. Fries are thick but a little soggy. Comes with wheat bread, tartar sauce and frank's hot sauce. This place has a private lot and I probably will return again when i need my fill of fish n' chips. Oh and my Japanese friend gives it two thumbs up! :)

Wasted my entire lunch break Pulled up at 11:25 to an empty place one person seated which he complained that he was waiting 40min for his order as he picked it up...however I waited for my order to be taken ordered a catfish sandwich at 11:30 and order didn't come out until12:15 no apology I will never come to this location EVER and suggest that you do the same!!!

My mother likes getting her occasional fried fish from here. It's pretty good and not too far. Ordering a fish sandwich will give you a good number of pieces of fish. Haven't tried the rest of the menu. I recommend calling in your order since ordering in house can end up being a long wait. A few times during the holidays , we called, no one answered but only to find out the place was closed while driving by even though it was during their regular hours. I hope they would set their voicemail or put up a sign next time.
