So much history packed into this museum. They have their own parking lot so finding a spot was a breeze. We went on a Friday morning right when they opened and we had the place to ourselves for the majority of our visit. Having my brother-in-law, a retired automotive engineer, along made it even better. The history was fascinating. My favorite was the half scale working model and full scale side by side of Mama & Baby REO. The replica of the boardroom with the angled table to show who was in power gave a snapshot of board meetings of the past. We took our time walking through. Seeing the EV-1 was especially interesting. If you are a car buff, this would be a must do while in Lansing.

This museum is packed full of cars and vehicles, plus related memorabilia and some footage of some of the vehicles in action. There is also a lawnmower section. It is named for Ransom Eli Olds, who was a leader in both Olds Motor Works and REO Motor Car Company. The set up of the traffic lights provided quite a bit of entertainment for the family. They offer one car to get in and out of for a photo opportunity, a 1954 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible. The rest are for observation, and there are quite a few interesting ones. A "Mama" and "Baby" set is fun to see - the baby is a miniature replica of the full sized mama car. There's also an early EV to see. They have a small paved lot available (check signage, however, as some spots are reserved). Staff was friendly. If you are interested by the history of cars or are accompanied by car enthusiasts, this is well worth a stop!

A must see for all automotive enthusiasts! We came here on a rainy Sunday afternoon (open 1200pm-500pm). This is an eye opening education in the life and inventions of R.E. Olds. If you enjoy the history of automobiles, motors, transmissions and how new technological advances influenced their changes/updates through the years, this is the place for you. Note: price of admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and students under 18 years old.

I always forget about the smaller museums. Driving through Lansing to drop someone off, I remembered hearing about the Olds museum. Little did I know it was exactly one block away from the convention center. So, on a quiet Sunday afternoon, I paid my $6 and went in. I was very impressed at the layout and the amount of history here. I didn't realize how diverse R.E. Olds was in his endeavors. And I was very excited to see so many old cars there, from the teens through 2000s. And in keeping with a "transportation museum" theme, there were other cars in there as well, including a Cadillac CTS and the Saturn EV1, which I really didn't expect to see. And lawnmowers and an REO Speed-Wagon, which. After about 2-1/2 hours of wandering around, I could only say there were only a few cars I was hoping to see: I was looking forward to seeing an Aurora and a first generation Toronado, both of which I believe are among the best cars they ever did. I am looking forward to going back someday -- I have to believe they rotate the cars often enough, especially the newer 60s and 70s cars. Definitely go.

I m back. More cars, more fun...love this place. Where cars began. I was there quickly this time, I had to see the leather license plate from a 1899 Olds. American Pickers, Mike and Frank, picked it up in Detroit in 2012 and traced it back to an Oldsmobile. Awesome, it is right on display there and I couldn't wait to see it. The same and some different cars are there and it is always a joy to return here. My only problem, hey, sell better postcards would ya!? Post cards are awesome, and I still send them. So pick up a better selection. OK?

It's a little spendy for the size. It takes about twenty minutes To go through. Although I think if you were really into old cars it would be more for you. It's nots very kid friendly but I never expected it to be really. just a heads up in case you think about taking small ones. Filled with many cars and lots of historical facts though

Great museum! Well worth the $7 admission. Contains history from R E Old's original house up to some of the latest Oldsmobile cars. You can tell that the volunteers have the passion for automotive history.

We stopped to visit this museum on 11/27/17 at about 3:00 in the afternoon and it was closed. 6 of us in my family and we were doing a few museum tours in Lansing. Pretty upset that you were closed. (My town is mis-listed on here....we are from Arnold, MI)

This was my first time at the museum. Went with my brother and had a ball particularly with the 50's and 60's models from when we were kids. Will definitely go back.
